Betsy's "Little House"

Hi everybody, I'm Betsy and this is my little house. I moved in in January and it's only 950 square feet. Come on in and see if it feels bigger than that. One of the things that I think makes this little house seem bigger are the vaulted ceilings and the skylights. And one of my favorite features of this room is my wood-burning fireplace, which I love. I was raised with a wood-burning fireplace and really wanted one in my little house. My mantle was handcrafted out of walnut locally, as well as my countertops, which are black ash. As we head down the left hallway of my house, we'll be heading toward my flex room. You can get a little sneak peek of my bathroom on the right, and we'll come back to that later. In my flex room, part of it is my office where I work during the day as a property manager. And then I also have a sofa bed so that my grandchildren can spend the night. Heading down the right side of my house, we'll be going toward my master bedroom, but now we're going to give you a look at the bathroom. So this is my master bedroom, and I think the vaulted ceilings back here also make the room feel so much bigger. My favorite feature in this room is the wooden wall in the back, and that was made from fence boards from a horse fence that my husband and I used to have that my brother helped me plane down, and a friend of mine put on the wall, and then I whitewashed it to give it that effect. The range hood in the kitchen was also made by my friend and from the same wood as the wall in the bedroom from our horse fence that we took down years ago. I'm sitting on my patio now. I love to come out here just to relax and enjoy nature, and sometimes I will read a book and just listen to the birds.
