Today I'm gonna teach you how to do a fakie magic slide.
Yo, check this out. Today...
Hola YouTube, my name is Ricardo Lino and I'm a wheel addict.
Today I'm gonna teach you how to do a fakie magic slide.
What's a magic slide? What's fakie?
Well, fakie is when you roll backwards.
If I'm gonna roll backwards, then I'm going fakie.
Magic slide is when I slide with the inner edge of my wheels.
Imagine like if these were my feet, I would be on the inner part of the skate
and then I'll be sliding sideways.
So that's what I'm gonna teach you today.
The main reason why I felt that I needed to learn this trick
is the magic slide can be kind of like as your eject button
if you're going really fast and if you need to stop.
But at the same time, if you go forward and if you need to do a magic slide,
it's not as easy if you're still learning.
But if you can do a fakie power slide, which is the most basic power slide,
then I would say the fakie magic slide will be easy for you.
What you need to know is this trick, if you go really, really slow,
it's going to be harder.
Also, if you're going really, really fast, it's going to be sketchy
because going super fast, imagine if you're going like 70 or 80 kilometers per hour
going forward and then turning backwards.
That's sketchy.
So it's more of a trick for you to do at a moderate speed.
And what you need to know first is,
let's start by just being able to do a fakie power slide.
I made a video of how to do a power slide
and in that video, the fakie to power slide was one of the progressions.
So maybe go back to that video.
You can watch it right here or here.
I don't really know what it is.
And on that video, you'll learn how to do a fakie power slide.
Once you know how to do the fakie power slide,
the fakie magic slide, it's basically not too far from that.
The only thing is you need to learn how to transfer weight from this foot to that foot.
And you need to be weightless, if that makes sense.
You need to be as smooth as you can.
Basically, you go backwards and then you leave all the weight on your front foot
and the back foot is the one that's going to slide with the inner edge of your skate.
Now that you're sliding, you slowly need to put the weight in the foot which is sliding
and become weightless on the foot that was rolling until now.
And now with this foot weightless, with all your weight sliding,
you're going to be slowly turning that foot, the rolling foot, 90 degrees.
And again, your weight needs to come to both feet.
So it's more like a weight shift.
Like you need to learn how to transfer the weight from one leg to the other to both.
So let's go back to this and let me try to explain to you again.
So you roll backwards.
You keep all your weight on the front leg and your back foot drags.
Your back foot slides on the inner edge.
Now that your back foot is sliding on the inner edge,
you're going to slowly transfer the weight to that foot which is sliding.
And with the other leg weightless, you're going to be able to turn it 90 degrees.
Now that both feet are sliding, you're going to need to bring your weight
into both legs and you're going to need to balance it.
Important trick.
Important tip.
You need to keep your knees closed.
You need to keep your knees bending inside so that both inner edges are the ones touching.
Make sure that your feet will never go straight.
You always need to keep your feet like this.
If your feet ever go like that, you're going to fall.
At least, especially the one which is sliding in front.
The one that is going to slide in front, if that foot ever goes like, you are going to fall.
Okay?
Make sure that both feet stay like this.
Lean in.
Stay on the inner edge of your wheels.
Make sure that your knees are as close as possible.
And now, test it.
I would say the best for you to learn is if you go to a slippery surface.
Sometimes, you know what?
Sometimes if something is wet, this might be perfect.
Now that the winter is here for the Europeans and the Americans,
man, if it's raining, perfect for you to go out and learn this slide.
Usually, on a magic slide, there's not a lot of possibilities for you to slide out.
It's easier to control.
Especially if it's super slippery.
So take advantage of it.
It's raining.
It's wet.
It's slippery.
Go out and try it.
Okay, and now let me show you a few.
It's circle time.
Welcome to an alternate universe.

I hope this was helpful.
And I hope you learned how to fakie.
Oh, I still don't know.
I hope you learned how to fakie magic slide.
Now that you know how to fakie magic slide,
maybe just try a proper magic slide from forward to magic slide.
But that will be on the next video.
Maybe master this one.
This can save you in a lot of situations.
I hope you guys enjoyed this video.
