My path to OWNING less | MINIMALISM 🤎

I was more than convinced that doing and having more would somehow make my life better
and in a way it did but the more I had the more disconnected I became
and losing sight of who I was in the middle of doing and owning more.
And then 2018 happened. I experienced loss after loss, leaving me empty,
stressed out, overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated and feeling out of place.
There was nothing to do but to look up and trust the process.
We sold our house and moved to a small apartment, returned the SUV, had my baby girl,
decided to say goodbye and take a leap of faith. We said goodbye to friends and family and left
everything that we knew, moving from the big and known New York City to a quiet and small town in
Texas. But we didn't know anyone. We started over. To live more intentional, mindful and present.
Placing our priorities to experience life with more clarity, balance, understanding, laughter,
peace, joy and freedom. Things that were really hard for us to understand and experience.
My main goal was to enjoy my family. To engage with those around me without the rush, business
and financial pressure that we were experiencing at one point. To simply be. To have plenty of
space to run, to play and to grow without limitations. To make time to find myself and connect with my creator.
My life today is far from perfect, but my purpose is well defined.
Not for what I have, for what I do, the way I live, but for who I am.
So I am trying to teach my kids to be open and free without pretending perfection.
In peace with who God created us to be. Without falling in love with the things of this world,
money, fame, titles, approval and being okay with just enough. I refuse to teach them about following
trends and comparing their life with the ones they see on social media.
I am learning to lower the volume of the external world to be in tune with the one inside of us.
The journey to minimalism starts within yourself. All I had didn't arrive at my home in one day
and for no reason. Everything has a why attached to it. So go ahead and take your time to analyze
your life. Place the right emotions next to everything you own and evaluate it.
Because everything you own, owns a piece of you.
It was on my lowest that I was able to find myself and come to know God. If we ever find
identity in titles, positions, statuses, money or anything else, the moment those things are removed,
we will find ourselves lost and out of place. Thinking our worth comes from what we own
and what we do. But it is when we realize the material possessions are simply blessings,
we get to enjoy and share with others that we can understand what this life is truly about.
The first step in crafting the life you want, like Joshua Becker says, is to get rid of
everything you don't. The reason I choose to live this way is because my focus is to walk my unique
path with just what I need, no matter how little that may look to others. To eliminate the stress
and pressure that comes with impressing others with what we have and giving full permission to
myself to shine just the way I am. I have finally found the space to detach from everything else
around me, telling me I need more and better. To simply live a life with more meaning and less
stress. Thank you for watching. Until next time.
