An area of archaeological and historical interest as well as great natural beauty, these islands are well worth visiting for a more tranquil and away-from-the-crowds Kenya beach holiday, especially when compared to the busier and more developed central and southern parts of the coast.

this is the more sanitized version of lambo island
this is my room
i'm in lama island now which is on the northern tip of kenya it is a beautiful island and its
old town is part of unesco world heritage it is famous for its coral built houses like the one
you can see behind me now even though it's part of unesco world heritage it's actually
in a pretty bad shape some of it is being restored but majority of it is like
literally falling apart as you will see in the video
so let's go start the world heritage site the old town and i'll show you the rest of the island
as much as i would love to create this illusion that this is the perfect place where you see the
culture and the heritage you can see the piles and piles the heaps of garbage and all the underfed
donkeys it just makes the experience really sad of coming here and the level of poverty that the
people here live under it's honestly mind-blowing i don't know whether to feel sorry for them
it will take me a little while to digest this experience
lamu is a world of contrasts when you go to the old town you will see it's quite downtrodden the
people live in felt and in poverty and then you come to shella and it's above the way it
literally is the tale of two cities on one island three kilometers apart the difference is striking
and you kind of forget about all that when you come to this side of the island just
look at the dunes let's look at miles and miles and miles of beach behind me
with no one on it i think it will take me a little bit more time to digest
the inequality and the difference but until then i've decided to enjoy since i'm here
i'm inshallah right now which is a village about three kilometers from the old town
this is the more sanitized version of llama island so sanitized actually
the prince of monaco has a house here surprise surprise
it is quite interesting there's quite a few places here to eat you're trying to chill
there's a floating bar and um you can also come to the banana house for a yoga lesson
i am just outside chella on the sand dunes and i
just climbed one the views are just incredible honestly it is a bit tricky and slippery but
it's rewarding when you get up there and you get amazing views just look behind me
and i'm still very close to the beach so the one i went to was much higher
is a bit different because it's an uninhibited island there's like ruins of an old town
called taqwa and you can also take the quick ferry boat over from shella over to mandal
there's some resorts and private houses but generally no one actually lives there
so i went to modulus they had a pretty good beach bar
a generally good pool this is definitely a good idea
