It's a close encounter of the giant kind for Earth Touch cameraman Barry Skinstad in this HD nature video. A very curious southern right whale has decided it wants some human company!
When I got in the water this massive big shape just appeared out of this blue curtain.
She swam up to me, had a good look around. I think she was as curious of me as what I was of her.
What really struck me was how graceful she was. As time went on I got a bit bolder and
started doing some dives and what was really remarkable is every time I dived
she dived down after me and almost looked to see where I was.
She was quite content so long as she knew where I was.
When I moved back up to the surface she would follow me as well. What was really impressive
as well is she knew exactly where I was all the time and was very aware of not to hurt me. Every
time I sort of moved down her body she would tuck in a fluke or move away
and she was very happy and very content with me being there.
