Just because his shot may not be falling like it did in the first two games, he figured out other ways to get involved. They're going to need that tonight. Navs are 3-1 through the first four games. And now a long spell at home. Dylan Brooks. He knocks down a three-pointer. Late last year, Dylan Brooks had a game against the Navs where he went 0 for 8, and then played here a week later and had a season-high 29 points. Luka over the aforementioned Dylan Brooks, and Dallas is on the board. Here's Shingun down the lane, blocked by Gafford. Oh, but taken back by Jalen Green. And Green finds Dylan Brooks for the jam. Offensive rebound, he had a second opportunity, but then Dallas secures the defensive board after two missed deep ones from Smith. And it's Kyrie in the paint. I thought Van Vliet had the better matchup. Pull-up off the glass miss, but Kyrie reads his own miss, and then Luka with a laser pass inside. Gafford. Ball movement, ball movement. Van Vliet with Lively switched on him. Trying to go around him, and Lively challenged the shot, but Van Vliet finishes. Very nifty that time. Luka over Omin Thompson. Thompson did a good job of staying down on that shot. Wow. Of course we'd like to have somebody like Jason Terry, who very much had that role locked down in his time here, but their depth means that maybe it will be different guys who provide offense off the bench as Easton slams them. Now Green. Green runs into the defense, lost the ball against Luka and Lively. And then it's an attack by Luka, and slices to the defense to score on the scoop to the hoop. And they have been so far in this game, he's missed the two outside shots that he's taken. Chinguun with a fancy pass, and Easton with the finish. Eyes behind his head, or on the side of his head. That's a brilliant pass that time, against the Mavericks. Him and Adams. Oh, Ky. Wow. Shepherd right up on him. You couldn't consider it, but Irving hits the three over the rookie. Well, the Mavs need Ky scoring right now. Van Vliet answers back with a two. Good concentration on that shot. Finds Easton. Baseline drive. Low clock situation, Cam Whitmore in his second season in the league. Score first player, and drives and finishes. Now it's Easton, who slips. Kept the dribble alive, poked away by Kyrie. Easton retrieves it. Good pass by Adams, out of the high post. And they score on that. He had to adjudicate that one. He did. And regulate. Chinguun. And crafty inside. Green is back into the game now for Houston. Their top scorer, on average, this year. Tonight, the top scorer is Dylan Brooks. Here's Lively, finishing the alley-oop from Dinwiddie. It's amazing when you can get to the rim. And Klay Thompson on the floor. Took it away from Jalen Greenfield, Lively. A basket a moment ago, ended a drought of just over four minutes for Dallas. And now they score on back-to-back plays. Defense by Klay Thompson. I still get out there and play basketball a little bit with them. Alright, thanks so much for joining us, Mark. Josh Howard. 431 games, averaged 15 points and 6 rebounds. In his time with Dallas, was an all-star in the 06-07 season. There it is. Dinwiddie for Gafford! Three fouls on... I can't be that happy when I see three fouls on Luka and three on Lively. Thompson driving, fading. Tough shot. Howell, the screener. Luka, the driver. Flipped up and in. Getting another stop. Jalen Green wanted to go backdoor. Two-man game on the left side of the floor between Green and Chinguun. And a back-down way inside. Missed shot, follow-up. Jabari Smith Jr. Three-point play completed. And Houston ended a drought. They went five minutes without scoring. Kyrie, nice finish. Anytime you're struggling to score, put your head down. That's the start of a five-game homestand. Next up, Orlando has just lost Paolo Matero! That's Derek Lively. To the rim. Nice find, but also good handoff. Jalen Green hits a three. Dallas trimmed it down to 11. The biggest deficit they face tonight is 20. And that's going to count. And four on Lively. Chinguun in the paint. Nice attack. Dinwiddie inside. Followed home by Powell. You attack, that glass is open. You certainly need a little energy right now if you're Dallas. Grimes is in the game. Dinwiddie, Irving, Powell. And Irving hits a three. Three-point loss to the Spurs. Five-point win over the Spurs. Five-point loss to the Hornets. But a double-digit lead for almost two full quarters in this game. And it's Jalen Green with a drive and nifty finish. They've extended their defense. Lively got a stinger on his arm, by the way, on that last offensive rebound. He's been grabbing. And wasn't in a position to catch that pass. Brooks in transition, jams it. Timeout Dallas. They absolutely do. And the way they ended the season last year gives them confidence coming into this. Three for three. It's good. Out of the timeout. Big, big, big buck. Speaking of D, Marshall had a huge steal late in the game the other night against Minnesota. But he didn't challenge that Tari Eason three. The guy out of bounds is open. Irving. Two-pointer. Here's Kyrie. Loves that put-up. Great transition D that time. Brooks runs to an open spot. Missed on a three-pointer. Dallas with the rebound. Now Dallas has a chance for numbers. They score. Luka, timeout. This is about the smallest that the Mavs have gone in any situation line-up-wise this year with what they're doing here at the start of the fourth quarter to accelerate the pace of the game. Hardy forced to the outside. Now darts up the baseline. Finds Luka. By Hardy. That was about to be a give-and-go. Luka over Jalen Green. It is single digits. Nine-point game. Houston. Blake Thompson is back in the game. Houston going to push it up the floor. Marshall ran step-for-step with Jalen Green. So it's a seven-point game. But Green with a fancy finish inside. Irving to answer. And he got there and didn't finish. Not enough oomph to get it over. A rare miss in an opportunity like that for Green. Lost balance and circus shot. Jalen Green. Luka draws a second defender. A little daylight to drive. Blake Thompson first one tonight. A drought buster for Clay. Back to seven. Kyrie. Brooks trying to slow him down. Kyrie overpowers him on the drive. Blake Thompson. Great for his career. Closing out a lot of games because of all of his staffing. Over two defenders. Two minutes left. A stop and a three. With Tyant. Got to get the stop. First shot clock. Two seconds. Green puts it up and made it. Timeout Dallas with 1.12 to go. He's at 41% on threes this year. Plenty of time. Luka to answer. He does. And so there is plenty of time. It's a three-point game with 1.07 left. Five seconds to shoot. Not going to let Green get it back either. Thompson has it. Baseline. Got it. Tough shot. Here's Dylan Brooks. Brooks takes the shot early. It makes it. Here is Najee Marshall. And Marshall shoots. And the game is over.
