L. Kichenok & Ostapenko vs. Hsieh & Mertens | 2024 WTA Finals Group Stage | Match Highlights
Oh, that's so good. That's twice now that she was down the middle on the return.
Oh, so good. So smart.
You see this opening set and another break point for Shea Mertens.
Oh, would you believe it? Audacious from Shea Siu Wei.
With pace. So you're scared to be basically a sitting target in the net.
It's not a tactic that they've employed throughout the year that often.
Is it something to do with the fast pace of the call?
Just returning so well again.
Mertens digging out that one on the stretch. Rinse and repeat.
Two days ago, they opened up playing flawless tennis and took the opening set in 6-1
and they've done the same on day three. Great set from Shea and Mertens.
I could just watch Shea all day. I mean, extraordinary.
Well, we saw the majority of the deciding points go the way of
the third seeds in the opening set. Punchy volley that is from Kishinop.
Oh, it's brilliant. Stunning get from Mertens.
The second set once more, 2-3.
That's long. Brilliant defense from Shea and Mertens.
Yeah, well, you can almost see her coming and for once Shea didn't.
Oh, well, got very lucky with the first strike.
As I said before, it's the expensive part of the racket if you buy it in a shop.
May as well use it. A little bit puzzling with what's going on.
Players moving forward, moving backwards.
You have to keep knocking at the door.
Mertens and Shea blow the green group wide open.
It was a must win matchup and they deliver.
Raced out of the blocks once again, but this time they were able to see it all the way home.
Fine performance from this year's Australian Open champions.
As they get the better of this year's US Open champions in straight sets,
a 6-1, 6-3 victory in an hour and seven minutes.
