So superb, isn't it, Mel?
The game very much based around the serve and forehand.
Jessica Pagula will be playing in our next semifinal.
Taylor Townsend was also there.
Now, Mel, something that struck me about Samsonova.
Oh, what a brilliant ending
to a sensational set of tennis overall from both players.
A topsy-turvy battle.
Samsonova holding her nerve.
Had four set points on her own serve,
four on the keys serve,
and finally gets it done in 48 minutes.
That's a nice put away from Lyudmila Samsonova.
Looks like she's just trying to slow proceedings down
a little bit.
That's an astonishing number.
That's terrifically well done.
Samsonova with the presence of mind,
just to go back behind.
On the outside, thought that it was happening
because there wasn't anywhere to put the towel boxes.
That is delicious.
There's another forehand winner,
just guides it superbly, doesn't she?
Thundered away with a bounce smash.
Just turned it on,
and now she's serving for the second set.
Well, how about that for a set of tennis from Madison Keyes,
just kept so calm, so composed,
even when she was up against it.
She broke out of nowhere and then held her nerve superbly.
We're going to a third set here
at the Adelaide International, the first semifinal.
Oh, it looks like Lyudmila Samsonova's day is over.
Yeah, we're going to have a retirement here.
So unfortunate.
It's game, set, and match for Madison Keyes.
Lyudmila Samsonova calls it a day,
obviously felt that there was no way back,
and she's suffering with what looks like a hip,
a left thigh injury of some kind,
and doesn't want to push it ahead
of the first major of the year, which is understandable.
What a fabulous contest it was here on Centre Court,
our first semifinal of the Adelaide International.
It's a disappointing ending for Samsonova.
Oh, that backhand of hers, Pagoula, so crisp.
On the front foot of that exchange,
right on the baseline, taking it to Pagoula.
Yeah, she took the pace off on the serve to get it going.
Oh, well done.
Another serve that handcuffed Putin's saver.
She can keep up with her fitness.
She's going to be a dangerous opponent for Pagoula today.
Oh, that's outstanding.
There's the backhand that served her so well
in the quarterfinals.
Oh, that's a bad look.
Excellent hitting.
It did affect her.
She didn't win a point after that.
Lost the tiebreaker, 4-7.
Well covered.
She's made it by a whisker.
And Putin's saver has shown us her fighting spirit.
First getting to it.
Forced in, but once up there,
no problem for Putin's saver.
She might have known that was coming, just slowed down the swing.
Jessica Pagoula is into the final
in Adelaide and without dropping a set.
Good battle between the players, a nice exchange.
The first set very, very key in this contest,
but it is Pagoula who does take it and also the match
where she will meet her pal Madison Keyes in the final.
7-6, 6-3.
Yeah, it was a very, very solid performance from the American.
Had a good start in the first set.
