I've uploaded nearly 27 e-books to Amazon in the last two weeks.
This is a new passive income for me and you can do it too.
This is how you can upload your e-books to Amazon
and then have Amazon sell your books for you.
Okay, so first of all go to kd.amazon.com.
You'll see this page here.
Welcome to Kindle Direct Publishing.
Click join KDP.
You will need to create an account.
Once completed you'll be able to sign in.
Now here is the bookshelf.
It's kind of like a dashboard for all of your books.
You can see here I've uploaded a fair few
and at the moment I've made around about £10 in the last five, six days.
But in the last few months I have earned consistent 50, 60, 100 dollars
each and every month since I started and you can too.
So first of all you click create.
You have your e-book, your paperback, your hardcover.
So click create book as an e-book to get started.
I've already made some books here using ebookmaker.ai.
So I'm going to use this one as an example.
Make sure you've got your book written
and that you've got it in an EPUB file.
You put in your title.
You put in a subtitle for context.
This becomes quite handy when people are searching for your content.
You can add it to a series if you're having multiple books in a multiple thing.
The author, in this case it's me.
Description.
Once again I'm lucky that mine's already been written for me.
So I paste it in here.
Now I make sure that it stands out a little bit.
So my first paragraph I make bold.
Okay this way when you go into the Amazon listing it's not all plain text.
Okay it asks have I got the copyright permission.
Yes I wrote it.
If it's a public domain thing then you'd click public domain.
Is there anything sexually explicit?
No.
Is there a minimum reading age?
If you're making general smart then obviously there's a
categories.
Now this is where it becomes a little nuanced.
So this is dating advice.
So I'd go down here and I'd search for something that is relevant.
So this one's teens.
That would be teen and young adult.
Social issues.
Dating and intimacy.
Emotions and feelings.
In general.
Now you're allowed to pick up to three.
Okay so obviously these would change depending on the type of content you would do.
Whether it's backpacking.
Whether it's help guides.
In this case it's a dating thing.
So I've done dating.
Emotions.
In general.
It will list the categories here at the bottom.
Click save.
Keywords.
These are things that you want people to search for to find your book.
Now the first two to three boxes here are quite important.
That you hammer home this specific keyword.
So this would be dating for teenagers.
Dating tips for teens.
See similar.
Teen dating advice.
Okay and then you do similar kind of things.
But within the same kind of bubble.
So relationship advice for teens.
Now generalize.
Love.
Dating.
Romance.
Emotions.
Intimacy.
Basically echoing the categories above.
That way it's relevant.
And then I like to throw out at least one question.
So how do I find a date?
Once again these are the kind of things that you'd be searching for when you go to Amazon to find these things.
Now what I also like to do is add what would be like.
If it's not the teen that's looking for this book.
It might be a parent that's looking for this book for their teen.
So it could be advice for parents for dating teens.
That sounds a bit dodgy.
But you get what I mean.
It's supposed to be advice for parents about their dating teenager.
Not dating a teenager.
I'm ready to release the book now.
Click save.
Okay we'll now go through over here.
This is where you upload your manuscript.
It will be your EPUB file.
In my case I go back to my ebook maker.
I go for the dating tips for teenagers.
I've got the choice to download the ebook as an EPUB.
Generates my EPUB.
Okay I then upload the manuscript.
Takes a little while.
Okay once that is successful you've got a choice.
You can either upload a cover or create one yourself.
So if you could if you're creating one yourself.
You use the the auto generation template machine that they have.
Which is quite good.
I tend to upload my cover when it comes to ebook.
And I use the cover that's been given to me here.
Or I create one from Canva.
So for example here's the dating tips for men one that I did.
And I can simply change it to for teens.
So in this case I'm going to use this one here.
I'm going to download it.
Then I'm going to upload it for Amazon.
Okay so that image is now uploaded.
It's going to ask me have I generated anything using AI.
And I'm going to say yes.
Because I have.
But I've made a lot of edits.
So it asks me that way.
It then says do I want to launch a preview.
In which I can do.
I'm just going to wait for the preview to happen.
Obviously I've got the thumbnail just uploading.
The thing about this is it will also check your ebook.
To make sure there's no blatant issues.
So whether there's spelling errors.
Or whether there's weird symbols.
Or whether the the picture's misaligned.
That kind of thing.
Then it could go back and edit it.
Okay so in this case everything's okay.
I'm going to preview it anyway.
There's my ebook.
I can flick through it.
See all of my text.
Assuming I'm happy.
Then I can agree.
And go back.
Now I click save and continue.
And I move on to the price page.
First thing here is it's a KDP Select Enrollment.
Basically I always click this.
Because it's free money.
It will give your ebook out for free.
But every time someone reads a page or two.
You'll get a couple of.
And it's also a good way to get your book out there.
To get your first few reviews.
Select a royalty plan.
If you're using public domain stuff.
Then it needs to be the 35.
If it's all of your content.
Whether it's AI or not.
Then 70% is fine.
And then for an ebook I charge 3.95.
You can charge whatever you want.
3.95 for me is kind of pocket money.
And it's an ebook.
It's not that big.
Obviously if you're going to do a massively thick book.
Then fine.
You can charge more.
And then it auto fills in the other markets.
UK, Denmark, France, Spain.
Everything.
Okay click publish.
And within 72 hours.
Your book is live.
And you can also go back through.
Adding paperback and hardback covers.
Which you can charge a little bit more for.
Now you can see.
That my books and Alan Spicer.
Are live on Amazon.
Wide range of pricing.
But I have a good few books on there.
And you can too.
