It's time to show you the finished outdoor kitchen.
But first, I'm going to show you how I got there, how we got to that position.
We actually love it.
We've used it so much this week already.
We have.
We've barbecued literally like five times in the space of five days.
Zoe is actually obsessed with smashed burgers at the moment, guys.
If you're new to the channel and you haven't seen us before, then welcome to the family.
If you are new here, we renovated our garden last year and we documented that all for you
so you can go back and watch.
But we had a little space at the side of our garden where we didn't really know what
to do with it.
So we've decided to build an outdoor kitchen from scratch.
When Joe says from scratch, he literally DRI'd this whole thing.
So if you're looking to make your own outdoor kitchen without paying 10 grand for someone
to come and do it for you, then this is definitely the video for you to watch.
And if you want to find out how much it cost, hang around to the end of the video and we'll
give you a little breakdown.
Are you going to break it down?
Yeah.
Okay.
Let's get into it.
Hello, everyone.
Welcome back to this sunny, very, very hot Tuesday evening.
I've just got back from work and the barbecue has been delivered.
So I'm going to get it into the garden and just open the box and check this is the right
one.
Exciting.
We've been waiting over a week for this.
It's a lot bigger than what I thought.
It fits.
Well the good news is the gap I've left for it is perfect size.
So that looks sick.
Do you want the good news or the bad news?
It fits.
It's not the right one.
No it is.
I'm just joking.
No it is.
There's two good news.
It's the right one and it fits.
It's actually perfect fit.
Is it?
Yeah.
Like obviously once you've got the tiles on, it'll be slightly different, but it will be
like still perfect.
It's huge.
Wow.
It is big.
It's massive.
Not quite the size of my head.
That's what she said.
That would have been a bit easier last weekend.
It wasn't easy to get up there I must say.
Wow, it's pretty amazing Joe.
That's what I call a barbecue.
That's going to get smashed burgers all over it.
That has.
Smashed burgers?
And that's got steak all over it.
And it's got these things that are like vaporizers and they stop like the juices and the fat and
stuff dropping onto the burner so they last a lot longer.
I need to cut out a hole for the gas supply underneath here and then get the top on.
Exciting delivery.
That is one of the doors for the outdoor kitchen and this will go on the front underneath the
barbecue.
Pretty good value.
It's from a company called Vivo.
You can see it there.
Vivo.
There about.
And I didn't think that these were going to be an option just because of the price of
them.
For this door and the one that's going to be for the side, opposite side of the fridge
where it's like a bigger door, that's like £118.
In my opinion, it's pretty good value.
So, if you're looking to do one of these projects, I definitely recommend Vivo.
I love you, lovely lot.
Right, it's Saturday now and I had the delivery of some external plywood which my dad went
and collected for me which is nice of him.
I've decided, those of you that watched the last episode of this outdoor kitchen video
will have seen that I've put three options for you to pick from.
I've basically gone for the middle one but I think the middle one was made out of brick
and rendered whereas I'm going to go for the same look but I'm going to cover it in plywood,
paint it and then I've got the doors which one arrived yesterday, one is arriving very
soon so I'm going to be doing the outside of it today.
So yeah, come along and I'll show you what I'm doing.
This is the plywood that I've got.
So I've gone for 18mm and it's fairly smooth.
I think I'll need to sand it down so when I paint it, I'll put a coat of paint on it
and then sand it back just to smoothen it up.
And then yeah, so this needs to be cut so I'm going to get that uncovered, get the BBQ
off.
Before I put the outside on, I bought these little plastic feet which are made for furniture
but they're basically just tiny little screw on feet that just will raise it off the ground
a little bit because obviously it's just sat on the patio at the minute and all the water
will just bunch up and it will just end up rotting so these are just designed to keep
it off the floor and just make sure that the water can run underneath it without any
trouble and also it just means that if I can slide it around a little bit easier without
scratching the patio.
So I want to do that before I put the plywood round the outside because otherwise it's just
going to add loads of weight and I won't be able to do it.
I was worried that was going to end badly but it seems to have held up.
Okay so that's all of them in.
Put loads of them in because the minimum order on that website that I got them from was £10
and they were literally like 50p each, like less than 50p each so I've ended up buying
like 20 of them so I'll just put loads of them on as you can see but it doesn't really
matter because you're never going to see them again, not going to lift it up so it's just
to keep it, keep the patio protected and let the water run under.
To make sure I'm getting a straight line I've just put this, clamped this piece of timber
along.
There's where the brace of the saw goes and I'll just run all the way along and cut this
bit off.
That didn't quite go to plan because I didn't quite have the blade set right and it's not
finished up that nicely so I'm going to have to cut off a little bit, like a little strip
and just an extra 5mm or something and then that'll just have to be the gap at the bottom.
That's better, nice and straight.
See it's not all perfect, good job this is the back.
I did 15k everyone this morning and then I went straight out there and started doing
this so I'm feeling a little bit tired today and I'm in need of a break so I'm going to
go to Wicks and grab some filler because where I've countersunk the holes I need to fill
them and then sand them back so that they're smooth for when I come to do the, when I come
to paint them and you can't see them.
So I'm going to have a little rest, go and get that, what I'm going to do is wait until
tomorrow because my cousin's coming around and he's going to help me do the front.
That will need to be quite precise and neat and he's a plumber so he's not a carpenter
but he's just a bit more, he's a bit better and he's done this sort of stuff before so
I'm going to wait for him even if he just like talks me through it.
If you're liking this video so far please drop it a like, we've been trying really hard
to get, give you guys as good a content as we can and we're on a mission to get to 10k
subscribers, we're getting there, slowly but surely we're getting there and these kind
of videos we hope you really enjoy them.
Give it a like, subscribe to our channel and share it with anyone because we want to get
to 10k.
By this point I've filled all the holes where the screws go into the wood and I've decided
to call it a night because it's half four and I've had a long day so I'm going to pick
this up tomorrow, sand it all back, give it a lick of paint and then the tiles will
be going on.
Day two this weekend and I'm not on my own, I've got my cousin here to help and we're
just going to start tiling the top of it so we've got these backer boards which are, they're
like, they're cement, I think they're like cement boards, we're just going to screw these
on and then it just gives like a good base for the tiles to be laid on.
We mentioned that we found the tiles that we're going to get and these are the tiles.
These are called the Leeds Green patterned tile from Tile Mountain, they were kindly
gifted to us.
We were looking for ages and just couldn't find any we liked and then just stumbled across
these on Tile Mountain which is the same place that we got these patio tiles from.
I think they're perfect, they've kind of got the, sort of, these are called Moroccan style
I think but it's kind of the pattern that we were looking for but also they're a bit
more plain than the ones that we had from Bethan's mum and dad so yeah, these are the
ones that will be going on.
Right, so that's all the backboard on, let's get to work tiling.
Just got to get the flap on the, to hook up on the thing, like it's not going to do it
like that.
That flap wants to hook up on the front, that's it.
I can see where the blade is.
Yeah.
That's it.
Yeah.
I reckon that'll go in there.
Right, so after my attempt, this is how it should be done.
There are the new tiles, what do we think?
What do you reckon Aaron?
What do you reckon?
It's a bit nice mate.
What we're doing is just getting all the cuts done and then we can mix up the adhesive and
get them on.
Got two mascots today, Pranks and Rods, Mills has run off upstairs, she doesn't really fancy
it.
Dumber, dumber.
In typical fashion, we're just working out if we've got enough tiles and I think we're
pretty much on the line.
If anyone's watched my garden renovation videos before, will know that I am really, really
good at getting the exact measurements and exact quantities of stuff.
That is actually sarcastic, I'm not, I'm very lucky.
When we did the whole patio, this was 42 square metres of patio and I ended up with one spare
tile out of the whole thing, including the tops of the planters, so very lucky there.
We've got enough tiles by one quarter, so this is a one tile split into four, we've
got this much left over.
Thanks to Tile Mountain for gifting us these products because we love these tiles.
I think I like them even more now they're actually on there.
So if you are looking for some tiles, Tile Mountain are the place to go because they're
really reasonable, they deliver next day.
If you order over £300 you get free delivery, so get on there, check them out.
Right, so with all of the cuts now done, now we need to get the adhesive on and start sticking
them down.
So I've gone for MAPE Rapid Set Flexible Tile Adhesive, it needs to be flexible just
because I think it's on wood and it's just outside and I think it's just better to have
it flexible.
We need to mix that up, get the tiles on because it's Rapid Set, it sets really quickly and
then we're going to take the dogs out for a walk and then we'll be back to grow it.
So real progress today, thanks to Aaron, the top of the outdoor kitchen is tiled and
ready to grow.
I've just been boarding out the inside of this cabinet just so when we put stuff in
it it's off the floor.
Then I'm going to put a shelf in it so the barbecue cutlery, utensils, things like that
can go in there.
So we're going to take the dogs out for a walk and we'll be back to grout.
Right, so now we've grouted all this, well Aaron's grouted all this.
This section of plywood is for the front and we're just trying to work out what the best
way to do the doors is because the doors need to go and fit into this.
This front bit's done, now we just need to cut out the holes for the doors and get them
fitted on.
We've got a visitor as well over there.
Yeah, it's not doing much though.
I feel like it's DIY SOS when the person you're doing it up for is on their way home.
Bethan's about to get back on the train in probably about 10-15 minutes.
I've been trying to get as much done as I can before the master comes back.
was my fault, I was trying to give you all you need, didn't see the blindfold, all them
nights, all that time, can't believe it was all just a game, you really took my heart
for a drive, I remember when you were all in for us, I recall when you said you'd never
love someone like this, telling me lies, you had someone else, now you're running back,
it was all good till the love gave in, girl, you took my heart for a drive, you took my
heart for a drive.
I have put this trim around, all the way around the side and filled the holes.
I need to get some more smaller trim to go around here but the worktop's done, I've filled
all the holes on the front as well, so later on when Bethan's home, we're going to paint
it and then it's going to be all shiny and we're going to do it the same colour as these
which is Ronseal White Ash.
We're on to the final stage of the outdoor kitchen and I've got my glamorous assistant
back to help me, not so glamorous, we need to paint it this afternoon and we've got the
grand reveal, we'll show you the whole finished item, it looks really good already, yeah I'm
really happy with it, we used it last night, you must have worked really hard this week,
this weekend I put a shift in, so I'm glad that it's ready and we've just done a weekly
shop and literally all we've ordered is barbeque food.
Joe was like, just to let you know, I'm only going to order barbeque food, when the weather's
like this it's so much easier and now we've got a gas barbeque, we can just go out there
and just sit and have our fresco dinner every night, that's true, I'm excited, let's get
into it.
So are you painting it with a brush or a roller or what's the plan?
Both, so this colour is the same as what we've got in the planters, so hopefully it'll look
like kind of streamlined, the branding is Ronsdale White Ash, we'll tag it in the description.
Right, one coat is done, it's looking so good, I feel like it's really coming together now.
Yeah, it's amazing what difference it made.
Yeah, it's made so much difference, it literally looks so professional, I don't know how you
do all this Joe.
To be fair, I did have a lot of help yesterday from Aaron.
True, Aaron has really helped you.
The tiles I feel like go really well with the paint actually, kind of just all ties
in.
I think what we're going to do now is wait until the full reveal, so when we've got the
doors back in.
We're going to have a barbeque tomorrow night and we will bring you along and you can do
your full garden kitchen reveal.
Right, are you ready to do the reveal?
I'm ready, let's try and do this smoothly.
Three, two, one.
Oh no, you've torn it?
Oh God, the reveal has not gone to plan guys, we've torn the cover.
Wow, look at that.
How cool is that?
Beefeater, discovery, barbeque.
Which was, we love, it's massive, it's sick.
The Viva doors that I mentioned in the last video are fitted and looking great.
Gas bottle in there.
This one isn't quite finished yet is it?
We need to put the shelf up, then we're going to put all our garden plates and stuff in
there.
And then the tiles, which we love.
Absolutely love the tiles.
It's slightly unfinished as you can see because we just need to put a trim around the barbeque.
We're thinking maybe doing like a stainless steel one.
A stainless steel trim to go around here.
But we're just not quite sure yet are we?
So don't want to rush it.
So yeah.
It's amazing.
Thank you so much for watching the garden kitchen reveal.
We hope you guys love it just as much as we do.
I feel like we're going to be out there every single night for the foreseeable future.
We definitely will.
