In this week's video we prepare the van for the summer, discover our new favourite walk , Ame joins us for dinner and Charlotte gets cooking with a spring favourite, asparagus!
It's not my best moment.
Hello, good morning and welcome to this week's video.
A bit of a continuation from last week is that we are now doing a spring clean of the van.
There's Lily, bag of rubbish to go with her.
She's not a happy bunny.
All this stuff is just like piled up onto the work surface.
You can see all the junk in here.
Bed stripped off.
As you can see, Coco's having a nice munch of something up there.
It's a stick, it's a chewy stick.
The front, well, there's a mess as well.
That's the very, very unglamorous side of van life.
It's going to be absolutely mint clean, ready for the summer
and ready for the van to get covered in sand.
So, joy.
Looking a bit dodgy.
Oh my life, look at the difference.
How long do you think that's taken us then, darling?
We got here about half ten, I think.
So, it's now half five.
Yeah.
Six hours, seven hours.
Hello, how are we?
I'm great, how are you?
Did you have a nice time in the mountains?
No.
Hey, Gigi.
All right, well, Ami has sorted her van out as well
and got her crap over into the storage locker.
So, we're going to head out now.
I've got a pitch in mind and we're going to go there and see if there's a space.
If there is, great.
Well, we've made it to this pitch and we've both managed to park.
Ami's with us as well.
So, to be able to find two spaces here.
There are quite a few camper vans here.
It's a very, very small place, so you can't fit that many in.
So, I think we got a bit lucky, really.
My light's gone off.
Your light's gone off?
Oh, that's not a bad thing, though, is it?
Oh, baby.
There you go.
Hey, she's back.
Anyway, let's have a look around.
Well, after that carb overload, I think I'm ready for bed,
but I think I need to have a walk first.
Good morning.
Whilst we are on the side of a road, it's a beautiful side of the road
and it's mainly cyclists, to be fair, at the moment going past.
So, we actually had a really good night's sleep here, didn't we?
Yep.
Yeah, and then just to be able to wake up to this view in the morning,
it's just van life at its best.
I mean, this is what we were doing before we had to do the whole ANSI thing,
you know, is finding pitches like this.
And this is where it's at, people.
This is where it's at.
Riviera, different class, isn't it?
Yeah, I think it's the van life that we all dream of,
but sometimes you need the other van life too.
Yeah, there's many different van lives.
There is though, isn't there?
Yeah.
You know, it's not always things like this and places like this,
you know, we try and find them as often as we can,
but it doesn't always happen that way.
So, sometimes you just need to make Wi-Fi the most important thing
and sometimes you need the laundrette.
I mean, as you know, if you've been following our channel,
you know, we don't just show the fluffy bits,
you know, we try and keep it real,
you know, what van life is really like and,
you know, it's the good, the bad and the ugly.
I said last night that I'll show you this place because it is beautiful.
So, yeah, let's do that, shall we?
That's human shit.
Lovely introduction to spring.
Well, this is the spring cleaning episode.
So, you know, and we're definitely in spring here.
If you're in the UK, sorry, you're not quite there yet.
I'm not wearing suitable footwear for climbing rocks, let's just say.
You can see where Ami gets it from.
No, I wear...
You go rock climbing in slippers.
But I kind of wasn't expecting to climb rocks.
In slippers.
Well, there you go.
I should be wearing sensible footwear, henceforth.
Ami's coming with us, so she's just getting herself sorted out now.
It's just so nice, the day's been beautiful,
the sun's out, the woods have been warm,
the dogs have really enjoyed being outside
and now we're going to the coconut bar for a cocktail and some tapas.
So, let's go.
Where we're going past in just a moment is actually
the first place we came to as we started our van life in September 2021.
First, we thought we'd start off in a campsite
so we could hit any little problems or whatever else
before we actually started proper van life.
So, this was the place we stayed.
Look, look at the view.
The view of Casino is just magnificent, I'm sure you'd agree.
I would just like to apologise for my outfit.
This is not my normal going out gear.
But today, I wasn't going to come out, then I did.
And I'm actually quite enjoying this comfortable life experience.
I look like I've just been to the gym.
Haven't, I've been in my van all day.
So, but no one needs to know that.
We even got the running shoes.
And I have my cowboy boots on.
Do you know the thing is, we come out for a cocktail and something sweet,
Charlotte's drinking a hot chocolate and Ami's drinking a cup of coffee,
which you could have got anywhere.
I have no words.
Yeah, how's the glow stick?
How's the glow stick?
The glow stick is cool, considering it's not even dark yet.
It's kind of pointless, isn't it?
Well, when we used to come here, we used to get like little parrots
and things and little things on the side, loads of different creatures.
I used to wear them in my hair.
Yeah, and we used to take home with about 30 of them.
So, yeah, what are we doing, folks?
Are we staying in this location?
I don't know.
I'm very, very, I want to get rid of these bloody clothes.
And I don't know what to do.
So, yes, we have a whole bunch of clothes
that Charlotte wants to put in the recycling thing,
which is the right thing to do, but it's finding a bin.
And we saw four, about three or four on the way down,
but they were like not, we kind of wanted to get here.
Yeah, well, there weren't really van-friendly parking areas.
Well, there was, there were, two of them were, yeah.
One definitely was not, but two were, and I was like, oh.
So, again, so we're getting in the van, are we going to the lake
or are we going to stay here?
I don't really want to park here, it's a bit shit.
Okay, so we're going to the lake?
Yeah.
Okay, so decision-wise, we're going to go to the lake.
The dogs, they look really cute, they look at the dogs.
I see Lily and scrappy babies.
Gigi's good.
Lily looks like a scarecrow.
She's got olive oil in her ears.
She literally looks like a scarecrow.
Right, okay, we're going to go now anyway.
So, well, I'll say that it's probably still going to take them like
three quarters of an hour to get ready to go,
although they're actually already ready.
Gloria has about three things to move because she's all clean.
It takes you half an hour to move three things.
Yeah, well, I'm going to start now, so quick, you're welcome.
Off you go.
Shut the door.
Were you born in a barn?
No.
As you can see, it's pretty dark here.
Look.
They're all going.
It's a pee fest.
Nice bag of shit you got there, Beau?
It's nice and warm.
All right, well, Charlotte, the cheeky little monkey, has already jumped into bed.
No messing around.
So we'll see you tomorrow morning and we're going to go to this river.
We've seen a pitch on Park for Night.
It looks quite really quite nice, looks actually beautiful.
So we're going to go for a walk down there and there is somewhere to park.
That should be good.
We'll see you tomorrow morning.
Okay, you might think that Ami's little accident she has in her videos is staged,
but I can tell you this morning that this just happens.
She's so clumsy, aren't you?
No.
Yes, you are.
You're a clumsy little toad.
Look, look at this.
I just, I don't know what happened.
It's not my best moment.
It's so annoying.
I just kept coming out.
I don't even know how there's that much coffee in it.
It's just really annoying.
What?
Well, you want to come with us?
You're staying here with your mother.
No, she's not coming with us.
I'm not taking all three.
Oh, I'm taking her.
She's not possibly leaving us.
She needs a walk.
Ami's working all day.
Listen to her.
She's already going, I want to go for a walk.
I don't want to be left here.
You moany little monkey.
Oh, no.
All right, well, I'll see you later, darling, yeah?
Bye.
Have a fun day's work.
Free.
Off you go.
You're not.
Coco doesn't actually realize that she's off the lead.
No, there can't possibly be two of them.
Well, it sounds like we're coming up on something a bit more interesting.
Sounds like quite a bit of a waterfall, to be honest.
That's a bit more like it.
Look at this.
Check this out.
So this is a little bit better, isn't it?
Absolutely stunning.
I could sit here for hours.
But we just want to continue a little bit further up to see if there's anything better.
Because there's not really anywhere to sit here.
But this is beautiful, isn't it?
Yep.
These are one of those days that you think, yep.
Lucky to be here.
Yeah, definitely.
Without a doubt.
All right, so there's a nice space here to sit down and have a picnic and get the blanket out.
But let's just show some appreciation for Mother Nature here.
Just look how beautiful this place is.
That was a lovely little picnic.
Yep.
Yep, a really nice location.
I mean, location-wise, it doesn't get any better than this.
No one around.
So the dogs weren't interested in barking.
They just want to sleep.
All three of them just chill.
So there's only one last thing to do now.
And that's me to go and sample the temperature of the water.
It just looks so inviting.
Josh is going in.
I'll begin with me.
I'm not interested.
Quite difficult at first.
No, you've made such a big storm in Dalsgaard that you can go fully in.
Is it cold?
Of course it's bloody cold.
It's a river.
Cold point.
It's not a bloody heart attack.
Oh, I don't know.
It's a good idea.
You need to warm yourself up to do things like that.
Oh yeah, it's a bit too frosty.
Loser.
I don't know, I need to suck myself up.
Well, it's going to be painful when it gets to the family jewels,
because it's meant to be very good for you.
Of course it is.
What?
I know, that's what I said.
You're more pink than you were.
Time to head back now.
So get back to the van, warm up a bit.
But this place has been absolutely stunning.
Always leave it as you found it.
Just enjoying a Twix and a cup of coffee.
So I think it's probably time for us to say
goodbye and thanks for watching and we will see you again next week.
