In this Mexico Vlog we take a day trip from Cabo San Lucas to Los Cabos San Jose del Cabo! The area of Los Cabos is divided into two main cities 1. San Jose del Cabo & 2. Cabo San Lucas.
There is a bit of a rivalry between the two as to which one is the best Cabo, so we had to take a day trip from Cabo to see for ourselves! We showed up knowing very little about Los Cabos San Jose del Cabo and left with such a great appreciation for this special place. Throughout this video we do some comparisons between Cabo San Lucas vs San Jose del Cabo Mexico.
Not only do we check out Downtown San Jose del Cabo, we walk to the beach, explore the estuary a bit, enjoy a FANTASTIC lunch at Flora Farms, and end our day at the HIGHLY regarded San Jose del Cabo Art Walk that takes place on Thursdays in Plaza Mijares!
Tune in to see which Cabo you would prefer between Cabo San Lucas vs San Jose del Cabo!

Hola! Bienvenidos! Welcome to beautiful San Jose del Cabo!
Buenos dias good morning Country Collectors. If you saw last week's video you know we are in
Los Cabos we took you around Cabo San Lucas. Today we are in San Jose del Cabo which is the other
Cabo you might not have heard of. It's known for its art and food scene. We can't wait to explore
but first make sure to hit that subscribe button and ring the bell so you don't miss out on any
of our future adventures.
We are starting here in el centro in Plaza Mijares.
Behind us here you can see the mission.
There are also a bunch of stores and restaurants around so let's go check it out!
Look at this beautiful Mexican flag!
As you can see San Jose del Cabo is worlds away from Cabo San Lucas.
There's no vendors, there's barely any people around it's so quiet.
We just talked to a lady over here who said most of these shops don't even open until 10 a.m.
She also said on Thursday nights that there is an art walk here that you have got to do.
So yeah stay tuned for that!
We are famished so we are gonna go grab some food come with us!
As I was walking around the plaza I noticed this beautiful restaurant called Pezgallo so let's head in!
So I am already digging the vibe of this place. It is
so cool! Adam got an iced coffee and I got a green juice.
They look absolutely fantastic!
Just perfection!
Wow, gracias!
This just made my day it looks incredible.
We actually ordered something different first, but then we asked our waiter what was the most popular
and he said chilaquiles and you know Adam loves those so we switched it up.
He recommended to go with half and half rojo and negro so we got red and black sauce.
And then we also went with the pancakes with nutella smeared on top!
Look at that!
Man the texture of this is perfection.
The flavor is a little salty that cheese kind of mellowed it out a little bit.
I'm in heaven with these!
Who doesn't like some dessert for breakfast?
And I didn't even get a frappe and I'm still happy!
It was absolutely fantastic and definitely one of the more popular restaurants in the area.
Absolutely the people were so great the service was awesome the food was muy bueno!
We need to walk that off so let's go keep exploring the town!
And this absolutely reminds me of Oaxaca!
Look at this papel picado, it is so beautiful!
We are down here in the art district and there's so much to see let's check it out!
The art district is located just one block off of the main square on calle Alvaro Obregon.
I absolutely love this it says, "love is the only language I speak fluently."
Te amo, I love you!
And they have so many beautiful restaurants here this is los Tres Gallos.
It looks so pretty inside!
This might be my new favorite street in Mexico.
It is so beautiful there's restaurants, there's a whole bunch of art galleries!
Wow what did you find?
This sweet rooftop bar here. I believe it's called The Bow company.
I don't think they're open right now but check out this view.
We are really digging this place the vibe is awesome the people are friendly
it's so nice and quiet and it really has that authentic feel.
I'm just like obsessed with everything here.
The architecture I mean even this plant this agave it's incredible!
And I think I hear the ice cream man!
Ice cream man?
Sign me up, let's go see what he's got!
Paleta! Ice cream? Si Si!
It is so hot we definitely need one of these.
We got a grape and a lemon they are 15 pesos each just under one dollar.
yeah gracias!
I love my grape popsicle it's so good!
So that right there is one of the many reasons we love Mexico so much!
Whenever you're in need of something there's a guy there for you!
Like we were so hot sweating there's a guy with popsicles.
Whenever you need a drink there's a guy somewhere selling water ,like everything you want they have!
So gracias Mexico!
Check this out. If you saw our last video at the baja brewing company
this is where the magic happens they actually brew all of those delicious flavors
right here. We're gonna have to come back later and grab a beer. Absolutely!
We just learned that San Jose del Cabo was established in 1730 by the spaniards as a
mission you can see this map behind me and it shows all the different missions
down the Baja Peninsula.
It's important to remember that there were indigenous people before
the Spanish came and established their missions.
There is so much beautiful street art down here.
We could spend all afternoon walking these streets but we gotta go explore some more.
I hope you're ready to go check out the beach! Come with us.
It looks like the beach is just about a 20-minute walk or one mile from here.
Let's check out the city along the way!
There's a bunch of jewelry shops, banks around here restaurants, plazas.
Another thing we've noticed here is how clean it is.
They have crews out here cleaning the sidewalks.
There's also a really nice bike path here down to the beach as well.
If you're gonna be staying in downtown cabo san lucas there are a few ways to get here.
You can take a taxi or an uber. We went with the most affordable option which
was 37 pesos and it was a local bus that left just behind the Puerto Paraiso mall
that we showed you in our last video.
It took around 45 minutes to go the 20 miles it took to get here.
We got here safe and sound it was fun and we saved some dinero!
Back where we just were in el centro was more of a town feeling.
Now that we're heading towards the beach we're seeing a lot more condos and time shares
and it's starting to feel a little bit more like a resort town.
But still with a nice authentic flavor.
We're almost at the beach, I hope you're excited!
By the looks of this there is horseback riding available on this beach.
This is the end of the cycling path
hoping that this is going to take us to the beach.
This is definitely the estuary right here.
Looks like there's a path right out here for us.
And we found ourselves off the beaten path again!
It's kind of like the walking dead right here.
It just kind of looks like we are the only living creatures left on the planet out here.
The sun is beating down, this building is falling apart, something knocked this entire fence over here.
Hopefully it's not zombies!
And look here there's some horses grazing.
I feel like there has to be maybe another public beach access.
This seems a little bit out of the way for the whole city to enter right here,
but what do I know.
And it looks like to the left there are some trails actually through the estuary. We should check that out!
This beach is huge! I can like see the water but in the distance.
It looks like a mirage!
They have almost every sea turtle that exists on the planet here laying eggs.
Right behind me is an actual little turtle hatchery where they are caring for the eggs
until they are born and they release them back.
As you can see I am the only one on this beach down here.
Down there towards the hotel zone I do see some people.
Looks like they're about knee height in the water.
I think because of the waves it might be dangerous to swim.
There could be a rip current or an undertow so we wouldn't advise to swim here.
I'm sure the hotels have pools so if you're gonna stay there that's where you can cool off.
But this is a great place to come and take a walk and just enjoy the beach.
While Adam is flying his drone I'm gonna go over here and check out the estuary , I'd love for you to join me!
Oh look up there that's an osprey! I don't know if you can see it!
If you are a bird lover I definitely recommend coming down here.
I can see some ospreys and some herons
as well as a bunch of other different species I don't know the name of. It's really neat.
What are your thoughts so far? Are you vibing more with Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo?
Let us know in the comments!
You gotta find the shade wherever you can!
Look at Adam he found the shade of this sign.
That's all there is you got to make do with what you got. I know it!
Adam just talked to a couple of the locals here and they did indeed
say that this beach is dangerous to swim on.
That do not swim here basically. Under any circumstances.
And it's a long distance between anything here so if something were to happen no one would even know
there was a problem. But if you're staying in San Jose they there are some beaches nearby
that are safe and swimmable. One is called Playa Chileno I think.
And it is very good for snorkeling too.
It's also supposed to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the area.
Yeah cool well let's carry on!
And I know it feels like we just ate but we are heading to lunch right now,
and you know who isn't mad about that!
Me, me, me!
We are going to check out flora farms which is a farm to table restaurant here.
Shout out to Rob and Jack. Thanks so much guys for letting us know about it.
We can't wait to see it so come with us!
Since we are comparing Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo we were just talking and
we came to the conclusion that if you're coming here and you're walking we would probably skip the beach.
You're coming from Cabo San Lucas you already have all those gorgeous beaches there.
You're coming here for a different experience so skip this beach hang out in town look
at the art go to the restaurants you'll be happy.
If you do have a car though you can always drive down here and pop out and check it out for a little bit.
Maybe if you're here even in the winter December through March you'll see some whales out there!
Our uber has arrived.
Come on in enjoy this air conditioning. Oh man now that is heaven!
You can see that the elevation is changing a little bit. Flora Farms
does reside in the foothills of the Sierras. It's really pretty out here. The uber ride
was about four and a half dollars so not too bad to get out there. It's a couple miles away,
We'll see you there!
And we love it the taxi driver Alfonso asked us for our Youtube channel!
Gracias Alfonso, buen dia!
Wow this place looks pretty sweet!
We just arrived at Flora Farms, it is a 25-acre organic working farm.
We would recommend you getting here early it looks like they have some shops
that you can check out they also might even offer a tour of the farm.
Let's go check it out!
They have jewelry stores, clothing stores, and also a spa!
Man this place has it all!
What do you think so far?
I like it and the best part is they have a hose down station here for when Heidi gets out of control!
Oh stop!
And look at these chairs and these little confetti balls behind us!
I could get used to this! Yeah this is nice!
They said that you can do a tour here you just have to sign up for in advance
but you can walk around on your own. Let's go inside and grab some food.
This place is so cool.
The music, the atmosphere.
We're having a great time and we are so glad you decided to join us today!
We just told our waiter Andreas how hot we were
and then another guy came out with these cold washcloths.
Like I said earlier whatever you need in Mexico they're there for you!
And there's like aromatherapy in there. I'm going to fall asleep in this!
Muy rapido!
I got the burrata with seasonal heirloom tomatoes and also their house salad with
a citrus vinaigrette. I'm gonna like mix them up looks fantastic and Adam got...
the Banh Mi. It is a Vietnamese traditional sandwich with pork from here
pate and fresh vegetables grown here on the farm.
Let's jump into this!
That's huge!
Wow, that looks so good are those pickled veggies?
That was a big bite.
Those are pickled veggies.
They taste so fresh.
The meat is so good.
This is a winner for sure!
If burrata's on the menu I will get it every single time. Let's try it out!
Oh my gosh.
I haven't had like fresh farm flavors in so long.
This is fantastic you gotta come here!
Andreas just brought Adam a drink from him! It's a beautiful mocktail!
Oh my gosh, muchas gracias!
That is so sweet! This thing looks awesome!
What a beautiful gesture. Thank you so much Andreas this looks like perfection.
oh wow!
You know we've been eating tacos like every day.
As I'm eating the salad my body is literally doing a happy dance.
It's like yay greenery!
This is my dessert Flora Farm's dance break!
I love you so much!
So the food was so good we decided we had to get some dessert
and they had three of our favorites on the menu.
We have some key lime pie, flan, and coconut tapioca with sorbet on top!
I cannot wait to jump into this!
What are you having for dessert?
Oh stop!
Look at that tapioca ball! wow!
This is coconut tapioca with mango sorbet.
And to think when I was a little kid I thought tapioca was boogers.
It's so good now!
Oh man the consistency on this.
That is flan-tastic!
I am not kidding this is the best flan that I have ever had in my entire life
and I eat a lot of flan!
Wow seriously I have goose bumps, I have goose bumps that flan is so good.
What I have to say is w o w - wow!
Muchas gracias Andreas and the whole team at Flora Farms for making this experience so enjoyable.
Definitely come here, make a reservation, walk around, just enjoy the grounds.
This place is very special.
It's a little expensive for us because we are budget traveling through Mexico
but it's also comparative to a lot of places back home.
And it's like an activity. Honestly if you're staying in Cabo San Lucas
and you're eating down on the marina.
It's the same price ranges you'd be spending there.
Even maybe a little bit less.
Now we are going to grab an uber back into town.
The art walk starts at five o'clock.
We heard it doesn't really get groovin' until seven o'clock so we're just gonna hang out for a little bit.
See you there!
ART you happy to see us?
Good one babe!
Behind us you can see a bunch of artisans setting up.
It's about six o'clock and there's already a pretty big turnout here.
Let's go take a look around! sounds good!
Man the sun has just gone down.
It's right around seven o'clock the plaza is really starting to fill up.
It looks like all the artisans are here the dancers are warming up. I'm getting so excited!
I know you're excited for the churros!
Oh man are there churros? Just kidding I know there's churros!
I told Adam he has to have some dinner before he gets his dessert,
so we're going to go try some tanal..
tanales .. Tanales! I love Tanales!
We're going to go try some tamales.
We've heard wonderful things about them.
This looks really popular, the tamales Dona Nina.
Wow they have so many different flavors here.
We got the chicken and green salsa, pollo in salsa verde.
And the rajas con queso,
which is poblano pepper. Chili poblano with cheese.
So that one's vegetarian.
As you can see I pretty much demolished this Tamal.
I'm normally not a huge fan.
But the masa -the dough to the fillings ratio was just perfect.
Make sure to stay hydrated grab yourself one of the Agua Frescas over there
they have a few different flavors. We went with the traditional naranja, the orange.
I'm not even gonna ask Adam if he's ready for his churro because
I already know the answer.
Yes please!
In Cabo San Lucas we had stuffed churros.
This time we're gonna go a little more traditional.
This guy just was twisting these out of the press and they're frying up right now.
I can't wait to grab a bag!
This beautiful bag of churros was only 50 pesos
or a little under three dollars.
This looks incredible it is burning my fingers and I cannot wait to jump in!
You can hear that crunch! Wow did you hear that crunch?!
It's like an explosion of cinnamon and fried dough in my mouth
and I am loving it!
You know when you eat something and it brings back memories?
Well I just took a bite of this and it brought me back to the 4-h fair in Michigan.
I used to go with my family. Because it tastes just like an elephant ear!
I love my churros, I love my dance!
It has been so nice seeing all this art out in this square but I want to check out some
of these galleries and workshops come on!
What's going on guys? Hi!
Welcome to San Jose de la square!
We're here in Plaza Mijares.
Welcome to Olympus Cabo. Come on in guys. Thank you!
It's pretty sweet. It's like a dreamscape in here!
These are so cool it's a mix of Mexican and Turkish art here.
They'll do any custom work you need.
They'll send it to you right at your home so you don't have to worry about
putting these gorgeous pieces of glass in your luggage.
Now we're going to head over to the Veintitrés Cuatrocientos art gallery next door.
This piece of art right here is very special.
We just met the artist, Mildred Marron.
You can check her out her socials down below in the description.
It was just selected to represent the entire municipality
and it is the indigenous people meeting with the Spanish and Swiss Jesuit missionaries that originally came here.
Again with the hospitality.
Nico and Mildred you are so sweet!
They just taught us a bunch about the history here.
That's something you're gonna notice here that's very different from Cabo San Lucas.
The people are just genuinely interested in having a conversation with you.
They want to say hi see where you're from.
Just talk. Yeah in Cabo San Lucas when you're walking around
the vendors you know everyone's pretty much going to try to sell you something
which we totally understand you're in a tourist spot you're there for vacation
and it's their job.
But you will notice that different vibe and it's definitely refreshing here.
Just accept it people let it wash over you and enjoy the authentic Mexican culture.
And talking about refreshing how about a nice refreshment?
That sounds so good to me.
Come along with us!
Up ahead I see a few bars and I hear some boogieing music, I'm excited!
We have found ourselves back in the art district.
I showed you this today. I didn't think it could be any more beautiful,
but it is just sparkling at night.
You can see behind me there are a few restaurants.
They look so nice. They have rooftops.
This one here is Agave there's also the Baja Brewing Company and La Lupita.
It's definitely reminiscent of Oaxaca and I am loving it!
We still gotta go get that drink, what are we doing!? Let's go!
Look at this place it's called los Tres Gallos and it
looks like they do margaritas on the road to go!
I'm so excited I hope you are too!
Hola! Hola, como estan? Bien! Gracias!
So we're gonna get the hibiscus, the jamaica.
And a spicy one made with serrano pepper.
You see the amount of tequila he put in there? I'm actually a little scared.
shake it up baby!
And what can we get for you?
Check this out oh my gosh there's like the cold steam coming off of it!
Whoa amazing perfecto, gracias Luis!
i switched it up and got a mango instead you know I'm a sucker for mango!
Before I start feeling a little tipsy we gotta do our ending here.
What a day! What a day trip! Very true. Yeah!
So we have been talking about the differences between
San Jose and Cabo San Lucas today.
And we have come to the conclusion that ...
I would definitely spend the majority of my time in Cabo San Lucas.
I would either come down here for a Thursday night for the art walk
and then stay Friday.
Or just rent a car and come down here for the day on Thursday and then drive back at night.
They're very very different places that offer very very different things.
Yes but we think that it's absolutely important to come check this out.
This is the historic part of Los Cabos.
You will learn so much and we truly think when you are traveling
to a place it is so important to know the history there.
It's great going to the beach.
It's great going on boat tours and going fishing and jet skiing whatever you do over there
but here is so beautiful.
The people are so nice it is such a great break from
all the partying that goes on over there.
It's definitely like a nice little balance. For sure!
Yeah so thank you so so much for coming along with us today.
It would have been nowhere near as much fun without you.
If you like this video give us a big thumbs up, comment, subscribe
and don't forget to ring, ring, ring, ring the bell!
And we have a few more videos coming from this area
so stay tuned for that!
We'll see you, next time! Adios!
