In today's video we'll talk about how to increase your confidence in Russian.
Let's get started!
There may be some problems with how you can return to Russian.
One of them is insecurity.
People are not sure in their Russian language.
I work with hundreds of students, and I tell you that 95% of my students
Offline, online it doesn't matter, they're not sure in their Russian language.
You have no idea how many times I've read or heard those phrases.
I apologize for my bad Russian.
I hope you understand me, or even better than bad Russian.
And in the end, I apologize for all the mistakes I made.
If you admit yourself in these phrases, it's a huge mistake.
It's a huge mistake to concentrate on something missing, something missing.
Better to concentrate and celebrate what you can do.
It's better than being upset and disappointed by what you can't do.
So, what can I do?
Stop trying to jump into Russian right now.
I mean, it happens very often that someone learns Russian already a month or two.
And feels confident, feels happy.
He or she is trying to watch some Russian movies with Russian dogs.
And, of course, he or she doesn't understand anything.
Or maybe he or she meets Russians on the street and tries to listen to their conversations.
And again, you don't understand anything there, because you shouldn't understand this.
It's too difficult.
At this level, at this stage you should celebrate your victories, your small achievements every day.
I recommend you buy a small laptop or maybe use your phone.
And every little victory you write.
For example, today I learned 5 new words.
That's wonderful. Five new words is enough for one day.
Or maybe you were listening to some slow Russian song.
And even two months ago you didn't understand a word there.
And today you understood a whole sentence.
Maybe even say hello, how are you?
But you understood it inside the song.
It's perfect, it's a big win.
Write it down.
And every day concentrate on what you can do, instead of what you can't do.
Stop using complex materials.
Stop trying to understand native speakers now.
In the future you will have time to do this.
But now concentrate on what you can do.
Can you understand simple phrases?
You can look at pictures and understand the words there.
- I'm good. - I know.
Now that's all you need.
Every day remind yourself that you have already achieved some goal.
You've already learned to read the alphabet.
You know how to read.
That's enough for today.
Keep moving forward.
It's the key to fluency.
Win every victory.
Number two.
Stay out of tension, trying to speak Russian.
I mean, very often, many students try to find a native speaker.
Right from the start, in real life, on Skype, I don't know.
And they want to communicate, they want to talk right now.
And that's a big mistake.
Because, unfortunately, very often a native speaker won't understand you.
Even these simple phrases because of your pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary.
They just don't understand.
And, finally, the student becomes disillusioned and disappointed.
And he wants to stop everything.
You need to avoid any kind of tension at first.
The best way to start speaking Russian is to speak it yourself.
I know, it sounds weird, but it's the best way.
I'm not going to lie.
Start talking to yourself every day.
If you don't know what to say, I'll leave a list of my suggestions,
My questions are on this video.
Suppose someone asks you this question, and you try to answer it.
When you're alone, cleaning in the apartment or driving, try speaking Russian.
Because talking to a native speaker or even a teacher is very difficult.
And it touches you.
Talking to yourself will help you relax.
And when you get better at it,
It'll be a lot easier when the real conversation comes.
So save yourself the stress by trying to speak Russian.
And these two simple steps are to concentrate on what you can do instead of what you can't do.
And getting rid of tension and talking only in comfortable situations,
It will help you increase your confidence.
And, finally, become fluent in Russian.
