Welcome back, everybody.
Today is the day for Dougapalooza.
We're going down to Doug's to work his calves.
So this has been going on for a handful of years now.
We go down there, but we're running out of kids.
So none of my kids are home, so we'll see how it goes.
Sassy Pants is gonna be involved.
That's what's happening on Ranching Sodak.
What's up, doggos?
Usually bring the dogs.
Usually get some excitement down there.
His cows aren't used to dogs.
These guys can manage themselves pretty well.
We gotta unload this thing, hook up the trailer.
After we work the cows and calves,
he's got a small pasture that holds like 26, seven, eight.
He likes to haul those today,
and then the big group will get hauled out later.
Anyways, let's get this thing unloaded.
Hello?
Really jamming out in here.
Can't forget about Big Red.
This is probably the last day, though.
I'll have the trailer hooked up,
and I only have about,
well, I actually only have one cup of powder left, so.
So we're gonna take old Big Red down to the feed lot
and let Curtis' boys take care of him.
Work out a little trade with the boys.
I think they're already feeding like five calves.
Yeah, you're getting some size to ya.
You probably need some pellets,
and you probably need some buddies.
You're looking good, though.
You're doing good.
But it's a lonely life.
Okie dokie.
Made her down here to Doug's.
You go back a year,
you'll have last year's Dougapalooza on the ranching channel.
We're gonna get the cows gathered up here after a bit,
and we'll start working.
No sign of Doug yet.
We're like an hour early.
We'll get him over here.
What's the old saying?
Lock a dog and your wife in a trunk of a car
and then open it up and see which one's happy to see ya?
Koki was in the trailer.
She's happy to see me.
Well, we got the crock pot in the garage for dinner,
and we've got the pens all looked over,
so I think we are all on the same page.
Well, we're gonna grab this tractor and move a panel,
but this is a typical case problem.
Mine does the same thing.
The flywheel gets one tooth missing.
The starter doesn't engage all the way.
Is that the thing?
Starter, he says.
Mine does the same thing.
Sometimes if you do this.
Come on!
It doesn't help.
Wish us luck.
Talk to you next week.
All right, we're gonna go after him.
Dougapalooza 2024 commences right now.
I think they're getting away and we're catching them all.
We're ready to rip.
We got the crew here.
Bryce, he's the secret weapon for the day.
So that's the plan.
We're gonna bring in a small jag
on the east side of the barn and sort them off.
Bring the cows up here and give them a breed back shot
and pour them, and then we're gonna catch about 30
to go to a pasture we'll haul today.
Same as last year, except we're not using the table.
Last year we used the table in the barn,
but this year we're gonna just try to ram them
in the alleyway and give them calves a shot in the alleyway.
Used to pinch the cord of the nut with a pinching tool,
and then you had to tip them on a table
to access the nut, but I can band them all standing up.
So that's what's gonna happen.
Now we're gonna scoop some of these up
and sort off the calves.
Doug, he can make the decision for the cutoff.
Hey.
Whoa.
We got one cow in here that's not gonna have a calf.
We gotta get her back out of here.
Yep, here she comes, 133.
Little old skinny cow.
All right, we got the little rascals coming around here,
and then we're gonna stuff these guys in the barn,
and then we'll get to working on them.
Here he comes.
Round two.
Round two of four, probably round two of five.
We'll see.
Bryce, he's losing steam already.
He went down in the mud.
Almost.
Talk out.
Once you get a few cow calves separated,
then they start flowing a little better
because obviously we've probably screwed up a few pairs,
so there's always a leader now.
You're the boss.
Get up there and get after it.
All right, folks, epic time lapse.
Syringe cam.
Half done, or a little over half.
And we got these left.
Get the cows worked, sorted,
and then we'll get onto the calves.
Okay, little shooters.
Last draft.
That was my bad, Bryce.
Round two, secret weapon is repowered up.
The Powerade.
Powered up with Powerade.
Sponsor of today's video.
We just keep throwing that out there
hoping somebody will pick us up.
Some of these have calves,
but didn't have ear things.
So, well, I'll just try to help watch for these
and see what happens.
Last three cows.
Coming your way.
Exhibit A, here we got the calves all gathered up.
We're gonna jam them in this alleyway,
and oh boy, look at that little front guy.
He's all already jammed.
Me and Bryce are gonna hop in here,
head catch him, band him,
give him a couple, two, three shots, and pour him.
Couple guys, Mr. Gumpy over here.
Gonna add a little shelving unit here for us.
Nice.
That's it.
Try to attempt, we're gonna attempt to fix a problem.
We got Trevor Brazil out there with a rope.
We think we know which one we want.
Oh, he just dropped the rope over top of a calf,
potentially.
Oh, he's down.
He fell on it.
Hopefully it's the right one.
Doug's coming to beat things with a stick.
Let's get some legs, hold on to the legs.
I gotta band him though.
Oh yeah, we gotta relax him a little bit
so I can get at the...
Anybody bring the pour on?
Nah, we'll skip the pour on.
That's not that big a deal.
Nothing to it.
Well, we got a whole 30 pair now.
Get these cows out of this pen,
then we can, we got four cows to pull off.
Get out, get out.
You okay?
Load up.
Get out of there.
Get out.
Morgan, your trailer's all dirty.
One more load of cows,
then we'll bring the calves the second trip.
I better not forget the gate closer 9,000 there.
There she comes.
Time to load up the cabbies, right little guys?
How's that?
It looks like a security breach waiting to happen.
Right, that's where somebody's gotta stand here, silently.
Sassy pants, activate.
Where do you want me in the way at?
This is working better than it's ever worked.
It actually works better coming out of there
than the down the alleyway ever has.
Right, right.
First batch of cows have all went over there.
I thought when they'd seen the trailer come back in,
they'd come running, but we're liking green grass.
I think they're coming now, finally.
Calves out.
This is the end of Dougapalooza for 2024.
Spring work.
We'll get a truck here,
and I suppose first part of next week,
and then all these other cows will get hauled.
I'm gonna go get cleaned up,
and then we're gonna load up Big Red
and take him down to the feedlot there.
Well, I got showered up.
It's about 6.30.
This is gonna be Big Red's last feeding.
We're gonna run him down there.
If I give you some milk, will you follow me?
Will ya?
What's gonna happen if I let you out of here?
You like me?
Don't, Millie.
Hey, buddy.
Oh yeah, that's the key to success there.
It's me, the bottle master.
Go on, Millie.
Oh.
You're gonna have to go lift a leg, I think, bud.
He does have a fresh, poofy butt, so keep that in mind.
It's there.
Well, we made it on there.
Big Red's new home.
How's it going, buddy?
We got coons, we got cats, we got dogs.
Hey, Big Butter.
Here's your new home, buddy.
Hey, guys.
Oh, there's four of them.
Oh, you got a little pellets in there and everything.
Well, say goodbye to Big Red.
He'll live down here now.
See ya, bud.
Well, we made her home, folks.
Maybe I'm getting old, but after pushing all them calves
up a dug, fooling around there today, 8.30, quarter to nine,
I'm gonna call her today, boys.
Sassy Pants is on the phone with Cordell.
We talked to Dane today.
Dane is a big fan of Big Red.
Shipping out a lot of mats, going good.
DFCattleMats.com, go check that out if you would.
Thanks for tuning in,
and we will catch you on the next one.
Peace.
St. Bernard out.
