Marco Polo and other famous historical characters are taking you on an exciting journey!
Life Adventure of Marco Polo
Is it true that you have traveled all the way to China on a camel?
Why do you ask?
It sounds impossible.
Can you tell me more?
I would like to write a book about it.
Oh, okay.
My greatest journey started in 1271.
We were a merchant family, so we traveled a lot.
That day, my father, my uncle, and I set our course up to China.
My father promised to deliver some gifts to Kublai Khan,
the greatest emperor of the East at that time.
We set sails from Venice.
And we sailed to the Accra in Israel.
There, we continued our travel on camels.
These animals could walk for several months without drinking any water,
We were passing by Tabriz,
a great city surrounded by beautiful and pleasant gardens.
When we reached Hormuz in Persia, we wanted to onboard on ships.
But these ships were only stitched together with twine,
made from the husk of the Indian nut.
So we took the harder way.
We fought the rain,
snow,
and heat.
After that harsh way, we took a rest in Suchow.
A year after, we continued our travel to Chengdu.
There, we finally meet Kublai Khan.
We gave him a gift and he let us stay there for as long as we want.
People here taught us a new cool stuff I've never known about before.
We saw the power of the powder.
And how useful it can be.
We realized that coal could last longer than wood planks for keeping the home warm.
They taught us that wine doesn't need to be made from grape only.
The whole process of making beautiful silk materials was presented to us.
We tried new spices and flavors of eastern food.
They showed us porcelain, a new material for making beautiful dishes.
And they were the first who made and used paper money for shopping.
I was traveling a lot through Mongolia.
As they invented the compass, Kublai Khan gave me a special one
that helped me to navigate through this enormous territory.
I spoke many foreign languages,
so I was helping Kublai Khan to spread his messages across the empire.
After 21 years, we decided to go back.
Princess Kokachin needed a ride to Persia, so she came with us.
And so, we returned back to Europe with a lot of new knowledge and stuff from China.
That was the biggest journey of my life.
Awesome story, Marco.
Sounds like a bestseller.
There's a rumor about the secret map hidden somewhere here.
We shall look for it.
Looks like the map leads to the oasis in the jungle.
There, we should find the key.
Where is the key?
Well done, Giza.
Hey, I know this place.
Looks like we should follow these stones.
Dearest Cleopatra, I hope you had a great time in your gold hunt adventure today.
Inside the treasure chest, there's a gift for you.
Mom knows how much I love to draw.
Tesla the Futurist
Niagara Falls.
With such power, we could lighten up the world.
T.A. Edison.
Great inventor of a light bulb is inviting me?
Nicola, let me show you how our system works.
Got an idea.
If we change the type of power and connect the wires with the transmission lines,
it will come to a destination that's even further.
Becoming Mozart
Hey, Wolfie, if you want to become a musician, you have to put great effort.
Let me share my story of becoming Mozart.
I was born in Salzburg in 1756.
There, I used to practice piano with my sister every day and night.
Then one day, father came with great news.
The day has come.
We're invited to the concert in Vienna.
Pack your bags, kids.
I was very excited to play in Vienna's Hofburg Palace.
I wonder where is this tasty smell coming from?
And there, I've met Marie Antoinette.
Hey, I want cookies too.
If you like cookies, come to Paris.
Deal.
Afterward, I was touring and playing in Amsterdam,
London, Paris.
Wow, it's so cool to be here.
In Paris, I met my hero.
And now, Joseph Haydn.
Joseph Haydn.
I have to work harder to be like Haydn.
He inspired me to work hard.
After, I wrote thousands of notes and some of the most famous works I'm really proud of.
And so I wrote many operas,
symphonies,
piano concertos,
and many other forms of music.
Knew it, he will make it.
Amelia Earhart, The Flying Woman.
All set, I'm ready for launch.
Yeah, that's me.
Amelia Earhart, and my very first flight.
Spectacular enough, but I can do much better than this.
My dream about reaching the sky was born that day.
But a real flame in my heart was ignited
on the day when I got the opportunity to fly in a real plane.
That was a life-changing experience.
Everything is so small down there.
The problem was though, I was a girl,
and aviation back in the day was a man's world.
So I cut my hair and bought a leather jacket.
There is nothing that can stop me from reaching my dream.
I took piloting lessons and learned how to drive a plane.
Yeah, I wasn't the best pilot ever,
but I knew I could become one if I train harder.
This was epic.
Please, one more time.
Just 10 more minutes.
Come on, Wolfie.
They said women would never become pilots.
So I gathered 99 women to prove them wrong.
I was the fastest one among them, flying 180 miles per hour.
And I set a new high record of 18,414 feet.
After they couldn't ignore me anymore,
they invited me to fly over the Atlantic as a passenger.
I described the whole journey in the book,
20 hours and 40 minutes,
which was the time we spent traveling across the Atlantic.
When we landed, I had decided that I would do all of that by myself,
as the first woman who flew over the Atlantic alone.
They said it was too dangerous to do it.
Many of them had tried after Charles Lindbergh succeeded.
They never came back.
But I didn't care.
And on that sunny spring day, I finally made my move.
And that sunny day soon became not so dazzling and warm anymore.
It was tough.
I fought the eastern winds, sea thunders, and rain on the open sea.
Brave and crazy enough to do it,
I finally landed in the fields of Ireland in Londonderry.
That was the day when persistence paid off.
Let nobody ever tell you, you can't do something.
And if they ever do, prove them wrong.
Multiple times.
As I did again by being the first person who has flown across the whole North America,
from Los Angeles to Mexico,
and the first who ever flew to Hawaii.
People asked me then,
Hey Amelia, what would your next adventure be?
I will fly around the world.
And if I never come back,
remember to never stop dreaming and be brave enough
to turn your dreams into reality.
