We want to see urgent disaster aid to the communities that need it, and we want to pass
a defense bill that strengthens the military readiness.
We can do all of these things if the public wants to roll up their sleeves.
Happy Thanksgiving, hanging out or waiting on family members for the shows to do.
Good morning, we're 16 days away from government funding for negotiations between House and Senate.
Happy and healthy Thanksgiving, hanging out or waiting on family members for the shows to do.
Good morning, we're 16 days away from government funding for negotiations between House and Senate leaders
which are underway at this past evening.
Thanks.
Thank you to Rosa Boyd as she proceeds from this.
We're ready to pass a government funding bill with no drama, no terrorism policy riders, and no spies.
We want to see urgent disaster aid to the communities that need it, and we want to pass a defense bill
that strengthens the military readiness.
We can do all of these things if the public wants to roll up their sleeves and vote.
House Democrats are eager to extend the hand of bipartisanship today and in the new year.
In the next Congress we want to work with Republicans to cut taxes for working families and make the tax code more fair.
But we're not going to do it by common ground.
The only solution I would propose is to cut taxes for billionaires and big corporations
The American people want us to work together, and that requires Republicans to be much more extreme.
Republicans do not have a mandate to chase the most extreme policies and mandates.
We need to work with Republicans to make their lives better.
That's my answer to you.
Thank you Chairman Aguilar.
The Associated Press has called California's 13th District for Adam Gray.
I want to welcome Adam Gray to the House Democratic Caucus and to Congress.
We will have more Democrats next term than we do have this term.
So Democrats gain seats in the House of Representatives.
As of right now, Donald Trump is at less than 50% of the popular vote.
As Chairman Aguilar said, Republicans do not have a mandate.
The incoming president does not have a mandate.
We look forward to working with the incoming administration on ideas and policies that will help the American people.
Whether they overreach, that is not what the American people voted for or ask for.
And we urge Republicans not to overreach.
Questions?
I think as a father, I understand it and I get it.
I'm a substance matter.
Democrats time and time again will be based on decision-making.
What is the best way to deal with the communities we serve?
Nothing but the good news.
One of the major things that will happen next year is a tax bill.
And if Republicans are going to do big giveaways to billionaires, then no, Democrats are not going to support that.
If they want to pass tax reform that's going to help work class families, then Democrats would absolutely vote for Republicans to get that done.
I think we had some amazing candidates.
Congressman Wiley Nickel wrote an article in the Chicago Observer noting that but for the extreme partisan unprecedented gerrymandering in North Carolina, Democrats would have flipped the House.
If you look at what happened in this election, Democrats actually removed more Republican incumbents than vice versa.
So again, American people voted with House Democrats in a number of districts and a number of places.
And Republicans do not have a mandate that is not what the elections show.
And I hope Republicans will vote with Democrats.
I think we're going to have comprehensive and deeper dive on this when we get to the crucial level of data.
Thank you.
I think that – look, I think we're good.
Thank you.
I have not heard a ton.
Thank you.
Vice Chair, who's been in – who's hosting sessions as well, Democratic leadership, that's a number.
Not very useful.
Thank you.
I am so pleased to be able to be here.
I'm so pleased to be able to be here.
And so I'm sure you're all excited to be here.
So I'm not going to show you any of this in private.
We're going to have a conversation about the candidness of the American people.
And what happened, and the differences between the Republican candidates and the Democratic candidates.
And I'm going to show you some of that as well.
These listening sessions have been very helpful, and they're ongoing.
But it's not as if it's just going to stop.
This is a process.
And Chairman Aguilar, first across the country,
going to different districts.
And he and I are both on the floor,
and members come up to us and tell us their thoughts
throughout the year.
So this is an ongoing process.
There was an interesting Navigator poll
that came out this week that did show
that Kamala Harris won among people who read the news,
watch traditional news, TV channels, and so on.
And then she lost among those who primarily
got their sources of information.
So last night, there was a vice chair dinner
where we had a discussion about how to expand outreach
and presence on social media.
And clearly, we're in a new world
where people are getting news from a lot more
different sources, and we have to be able to adjust that.
We absolutely, the vice chair and I,
absolutely stand by it.
The data, the data.
I mean, it's clear.
I mean, it is clear that there's always
key factors that need to be taken into account.
To me, it's clear that we need to do more.
And this is a story that I'm proud to tell.
It's a story that I'm proud to tell.
I have so many, many friends, and I feel like
I have so many, many friends and so many resources
that I have to give to them.
And I feel like I have so many resources
that I have to give to them.
I'm always curious, and I feel like
the other person sees me and they appreciate me,
and they understand me,
and they're not afraid of me,
We make what we do here, so we can push them back and start a community, which is something that we have to do, so we need to do that.
We probably need to do more, we need to do more.
We like to do things.
We really should stop.
We absolutely do.
But there are things that we can't control as individuals.
We need to do things on our personal side.
We need to do what we need to do.
It's right that women's also a main focus of society.
Men's main focus of society.
We need to make sure that we actually do what we need to do.
Just like we do with the state of the world, we have to make sure that we do what we need to do.
Thank you.
I appreciate it.
Thank you.
