Hey, good morning guys. How you guys doing today? Welcome to another live lesson. I feel like it's been a while. I took the week off last week. But here I am. We are back with the live lesson in these last two weeks. I feel like there has been so much that has happened. First off time has changed. We are one hour back now just about a week ago. We turned our clock back one hour. So it is actually 3 p.m. Here now in Los Angeles instead of 4 p.m. So I'm still getting used to this new time. But I think the biggest news that happened within the last two weeks obviously is the presidential elections. I'm sure you guys have been following it but president elect. I guess we should say Joe Biden is going to be the new president of the United States and our vice president is going to be Kamala Harris very exciting times here in the United States. It has been a pretty wild race to say the least but I guess you know for me. I don't want to talk too much about politics on the live lesson, but I'll just say by saying that I'm very excited to have a leader who believes in inclusion a leader who believes in unity and a leader that believes in science, especially in times of the coronavirus. It's very good to know that we have somebody up there who believes in all of that. So I'm very excited for this new opportunity and I guess the other thing that I'm very excited about is vice president Kamala Harris. She is the first women vice president and not only is she the first women vice president. She is also the first vice president who is of color the first black women president. She also has the Asian descent, right? I think India is also part of her roots. So she made history this year. If you guys have not seen her speech yet, I recommend you to check it out. It's very inspiring. She talked about how you know, she is the first women vice president, but she will not be the last and hopefully she will pave the way for more women women leaders out there to follow her footsteps and do some big things because there are a lot of powerful women out there that you know needs to be leading and I am in full support of that. So I just want to say big congratulations to both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and just a big moment. I'm super excited about it. Good morning everyone. It feels like two weeks is a long time. There have been a lot of things in the past two weeks. One of them is that the time is back to 1 o'clock. Actually, it's 3 o'clock in the evening. Normally it's 4 o'clock, but since it's back to 1 o'clock, it's 3 o'clock now and I'm adjusting the time. More importantly, the big news is the presidential election. There have been a lot of elections, but I think Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be the president and vice president this time. Of course, President Trump has not conceded yet, but it looks like that's how things are going to be. Trump hasn't admitted defeat yet, but I think Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be the president and vice president. I don't want to talk too much about this, but as long as the people who are at the top include all kinds of people, I think it's peaceful, regardless of race, religion, skin color, and science, it's reassuring that there are leaders who believe in science at the top. There are still a lot of problems, but I'm looking forward to it. I don't know why I said that. Anyway, today I want to talk about different ways to say thank you. There are so many different ways to express your appreciation in English. Today, I'm going to give you 6 different situations and 12 different phrases you can use to tell somebody how much you appreciate them. Our first situation for today is When someone does something nice to you, what do you say? This is the first sentence. Thanks for helping me out. You're the best. Thank you for helping me out. You are the best. When you say you are the best, you are telling somebody that you are amazing. You are great. You are the best. You feel like you are hitting a plateau. You have stopped growing. You're not sure if your English is good. Maybe your teacher says, June, your English is getting really good. I can tell that you've been studying every day. Your pronunciation is getting better. You're using expressions that American people are using. Your English is really improving. You are worried about your English. Your favorite teacher complimented you. You are complimented. That means a lot to me. When you hear the word from the teacher, when you hear the word from the teacher, you are moved by it, you say, thank you for your encouragement. that means a lot to me. I appreciate it. Alright? Okay. Very good. In this case, if someone says something nice or encouraging, you make my day. Or, that means a lot. Alright. Let's go to the next one, guys. Number three. When someone does you a favor. Alright? So, let's say, for example, you have to go to the airport. But, you are running late and you do not have a car. So, you call your friend and you're like, Hey, Andrew. I need to get to the airport right now and I need to be there in 30 minutes. I don't have a car. Do you think you can take me to the airport right now? I'm sorry, man, but I just really gotta go and I didn't know who else to call. And Andrew says, Alright, man. I'll come and pick you up right now. Let's go. And he comes, picks you up, and takes you to the airport. In that case, Thank you for taking me to the airport, Andrew. I owe you one. You can use it like that. For example, in 30 minutes, you have to go to the airport. You have to go to the airport. In 30 minutes, you might be late. You don't have a car. You don't have a car, but you have to go to the airport right now. In that case, you call your friend and you're like, Hey, Andrew. I need to get to the airport right now and I need to be there in 30 minutes. In that case, Thank you for taking me to the airport. I owe you one. You can say, I owe $10 to Mike. I owe you $20.
