Like the end of the hunting season is so lonely, like that sounds really silly but you're used to like seeing all these people for months and months, once, twice a week, and you all just like catch up and have a little natter.
And then it ends and you're kind of like, what now? And especially because my horses go on holiday, like after the hunting season, they get at least six weeks of just being in the field, chilling out, a bit of R&R for them.
So I kind of lose my biggest social outlet, and I also lose my biggest, I don't know what it's riding, I suppose it's like exercise or just like what you do to feel mentally sane.
So I turn into a bit of a lunatic and I just start overthinking everything.
So, that being said, we're going to make a coffee, of course we are, and then we're going to get in the car and drive to Ellesmere, and hang on, I'll leave you up there, that was quite nice actually.
Drive to Ellesmere, and we're going to hit the hounds for a cycle along the canal, and hopefully we'll have quite a bit of public interest.
We're just trying to get the word out there, tell people that no, we're not horrible, nasty people that go and butcher the wildlife, we don't hunt any live animals, it's all just what people say online.
I think it's all well and good just pretending that we don't go hunting, and just not talking about it, because I know, especially on my TikTok, if I put a video up about showjumping or about hacking or anything, it'll get a lot more views.
If I put something up about trail hunting, people don't like it, and I know, I know, I'm not trying to wash under the carpet, there have been incidents where certain packs have broken trail hunting ways and means.
But hunting is so important, for so many reasons, but that is a big one.
Anyway, I need to stop rambling because I'm going to be late.
Very little food.
Thank you very much.
I don't like putting these hounds away.
So these people go and hold things for now, but when we're hunting they're going to treat the hounds better.
And the horses come on the back?
Yeah.
Obviously back now from hound exercise, thank you.
Had a lovely time, went all through Ellesmere, along the canal, we had quite a few locals that came out and watched and supported us, took nice photos.
I didn't get videoed nearly falling off Upper Hill, which I will say was not my fault, we were going up a bridge, quite a steep ramp.
And if the person in front of me hadn't have been going so bloody slowly, I would have been fine, but they went so slow, I kind of got halfway and then slammed on and had a little wobble and nearly came out the side door, but I didn't.
I didn't.
So that's all good.
I'm going to go and get on, I'm not sure if I'm going to ride Billy or Macalester, or maybe both of them, but I think I need to ride at least one of them.
More so, that I can walk the dogs then, and they'll get some good exercise, because later on I'm going to my sister's house for my niece's birthday.
I have no idea how old she is, that makes me a really bad auntie doesn't it.
But, I mean the way I see it, they're just like these little people that exist, and they just seem to get older so quickly, like so much faster than I get older.
I think in the whole time she's been alive I've had like two birthdays, and I'm going to guess she'd be about 13.
I always get her birthday muddled up with a horse of mine, well an old horse, my mare Blondie.
Her birthday is on the 27th of May, my niece's is on the 26th of May, and I always get them confused.
There was one year I was driving back from a show I'd been at, and I'd made such a big fuss of Blondie on the Saturday.
And I was like, oh it's her birthday, so lovely, lovely, lovely.
And then as I was driving home on the Sunday, I rang my niece, and I sang happy birthday down the phone, very enthusiastically.
And then she just kind of went, thanks Auntie Jen, my birthday was actually yesterday.
And I was like, well no it's not, because Blondie's was yesterday, and yours is the day after.
And she was like, no, I think you've got that muddled, mine was definitely yesterday.
And then I looked at Blondie's passport, and lo and behold, I had got them swapped around.
So that's kind of like a running joke, like I always just say happy birthday on just a day that's near her birthday, but probably isn't her actual birthday.
And that's just a running joke, because I'm so much fun, I'm such a fun auntie.
Or just really terrible as a person.
But we'll go with fun, because that's a nice little story.
Right, me and my little fluffy chick jumper are going to go and get, I think whichever horse is nearer is going to be the winner.
Do not judge my paddock when we go out, do not judge it.
It's covered in buttercup, like covered.
And I was supposed to deal with it in the spring, but I think because it was so, so wet.
So we had a very limited window for spraying, and it just, it didn't get done.
And then by the time it was dry enough to spray, the buttercups had already flowered.
And my paddock guy was just like, there is absolutely no point, you will be wasting money if you spray these now.
He was like, you just have to wait till next year.
So it's bad, like I will tell you that.
Let's go and have a look, shall we? Let's get a pony in, let's take the dogs out.
Let's just have a nice day.
I told you it was bad.
Hello, my gorgeous boys.
Let's get those rugs off.
I know I am biased, but they are just the most gorgeous boys, aren't they?
How do I feel about my jumper?
Have we mentioned that on here?
I just filmed a TikTok about it and can't remember whether we've discussed it.
Basically, I've got a bit of a, I suppose it's a bit of a kink.
I just like wearing revolting or garish clothing.
It just makes me happy.
My neighbour slash little sister Isla, if she sees me and goes, what the hell are you wearing?
The joy that I feel, I get a real kick out of it.
So I'm just thriving off that really.
Maybe that's not helpful, honey.
So yeah, this is the outfit.
I put yellow socks on as well, they don't quite match, but they're yellow.
We're in a very yellow mood.
You haven't got an itchy lip, have you?
So I just, this is why I can't have nice things.
Because like not even an hour have I been using that and it's gone already.
So hopefully it's stuck in my jumper and it came off when I was pulling my jumper over my head.
But otherwise, what a waste.
What a waste.
It's just nice to be out having a nice leisurely ride.
I won't do too much on Bill.
Like I'm literally, you can see my house in the background.
We've not gone far.
We just had like a nice steady walk, trot, popped that little jump,
sort of a cant around this field and then pretty much walk home.
And then the Callister can do a bit more around the roads.
Taking for a bit of a trot.
But Billy obviously, I don't know if I mentioned it.
Did I mention it in my last video?
So Billy got a splint in his back leg.
Which I think they normally get them in their front legs, but it's Billy.
Of course he has to do something a bit differently.
And that took,
Google said it would take about 10 weeks of rest before it was better.
And it did take the full 10 weeks.
And I think he did that maybe end of February.
And he's been back in work maybe three weeks now.
And I have just been taking it so steady.
Like I'm not doing anything on hard ground.
He's back barefoot, which hopefully will keep him that way until we start hunting again.
Yeah, we're just being mindful of the old boy.
He'll be 17 in a couple of weeks time.
17 years old.
So I just want to like look after him.
But also he enjoys doing things.
He doesn't like to have a boring, quiet life.
He quite likes to be out doing things.
I don't know if once a splint has recovered,
if it then makes the leg weaker than it was before,
and it's more likely to happen again.
I feel like it would be because you've almost damaged the bone.
But then I suppose when you break a bone, it does heal fully.
So I don't know. If you know, let me know.
Anyway, I'm going to finish up.
Maybe have another little cant.
It's very, very soft ground.
Almost too soft.
We've had so much rain the last few days.
We literally had like a month's worth of rain in one day.
So you can definitely feel that in the ground.
Like I don't know if you can hear me sinking into it.
But yeah, it's pretty, pretty soft.
Yeah, there we go.
There we go.
Right.
I'll start rambling, shall I?
Also, the other day I was like, oh, that looks like quite a nice hedge.
I could jump that on Bill.
And then I...
Oh, no, my reins.
Don't let go of your reins, guys.
I went over to it and there's a massive ditch behind it.
I was like, good job.
I did check that out.
Good job.
So that really was not jumpable.
To be fair.
Osi, watch out.
Right, you're going...
That's going to stitch me up, actually.
Osi, if you could move, please.
Osi's here.
Here.
Bill, that's not much of a run-up, I'm afraid.
That was exactly on the floor.
That's exactly where I took my jumper off.
Back in business.
I don't know if it makes any difference.
Let me know if you think it does.
My callus is all tacked up.
Billy's in his stable.
I think we'll just take him for a...
I'm thinking of trotting down the roads.
I don't really know.
I don't know.
Not sure whether Osi will come with now,
because it is getting a bit hot.
Yeah, that's not looking like a boy
that wants to come with, is it?
Do you want to stay here?
Gorgeous boy.
Okay.
Alright.
Come on.
Do you remember in my last video
when I was training for my charity race
and I said something like,
he's just so wired
and feels like a completely different horse
at the moment.
Yeah, that didn't last long.
Honestly, finished the race,
put him back on his normal feet.
He's been off for a few weeks.
He's been out, you know,
out in the field
and literally
straight back
to just default
flipping boy.
Three.
So I am a little bit behind
where I thought.
But also, like,
I did a really thorough job
on both of the boys.
They both got washed off
when they came back in.
I screwed, like,
I sorted their feet out.
You know, I've just done things properly.
I swept the yard,
which sometimes, you know,
if there's a job that's going to go,
that'll be the one
that's not going to make the cut.
But no, I've done everything,
apart from wash my hair,
which is a bit desperate.
But I did, like,
I tried to kind of
sort it out,
bearing in mind
it is due a wash.
And I've been on a bike ride this morning.
I've ridden two horses.
Like, it's not at its best.
But I, you know, I've tried.
I've put in some effort.
Outfit,
I would love to show you it properly,
but I'm sat down
and I'm not showing me in a crop top
when I'm sat down.
Like, that's just not,
like, yeah,
I know we all get a bit of a tongue
when we sit down,
but that's not how I want you to, like,
see the outfit, you know?
So hopefully,
I'll get a nice picture of it later.
What I'm trying to pull
and convey to the audience
is that my niece is 13 today.
I'm still cool as hell.
Like, I am the cool auntie.
You know?
The blazer,
that was like,
that was an afterthought
because the weather is very bipolar today.
Like, one minute,
roasting hot,
boiling hot,
beautiful.
And then for the last 20 minutes,
it's been really overcast
and a bit windy
and I'm like,
what's a girl to do?
I don't want to be sat there
in a crop top,
freezing.
I mean, I'm sure we could just go inside,
but I have a feeling this is going to be, like,
an outside affair.
Like, it's May, isn't it?
So,
now I've broken the seal
and I'm back riding my horses
and I'm not on holiday anymore.
Hopefully, like,
there'll be a few more videos coming through.
But yeah,
don't hold me to that.
I'll see you when I see you,
I guess.
