let's get
started welcome back to the tiny shiny
magical Homestead o where we will be
taking 100 2x4s and nine sheets of
plywood and turning it into 13 window
forms adeli and I went all the way to
tuon and loaded up the truck with 100
2x4s nine sheets of/ in plywood and uh
made it back safely so that's really all
that matters but we are going to be
turning all of this into the remainder
of our window forms almost almost with
the exception of several two
windows so yeah why do we have so many
windows in our house I kind of wonder
how many windows in a normal house
because we have 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20
22 Windows sounds like a lot it does
kind of but then if you look at all the
like wall surface area we have I don't
know well and also so it's not all
windows which we'll explain later
spoiler today's video is sponsored by
jackary once again that's right we're
using the 5,000 plus cuz we have a whole
lot of wood to cut while we're working
on our projects I'm going to take a
minute and give you some nerdy details
about the jackary 5000 plus solar
generator
the 5000 plus is focused on whole home
reliable high-capacity backup power for
emergencies and eco-friendly living each
unit has 5 kwatt hours of lithium iron
phosphate storage expandable all the way
up to 30 kwatt hours you can run it at
120 volts or 240 volts and it surges up
to 7200 watts and also join two units
together to get up to 60 Kow hours of
storage and
14,400 WS of surge power holy moly it's
16 1/2 in wide 15 1/2 in deep and 25 in
high and 132 lb which means the wheels
and handle are very much appreciated of
course you can use the jackary app to
set up and control it has a 5-year
warranty upgradeable to a 7-year
warranty on the output side you've got 4
20 amp 2400 W AC plugs two USBC 100 W
plugs two usba 18 W plugs a 12vt 10 amp
cigarette lighter adapter two 30 amp
ports a Nema
l1430r and a 1450 both of which can
surge up to 7200 WTS and an AC expansion
port for the transfer switch on the
input side it has mc4 connectors for a
high voltage solar array so you can
build your own array plug it right in or
you can use something like that solar
Saga 500 x to the low full Voltage PV
and just plug it right in there's of
course an AC input if you just want to
plug it up so you can charge it that way
and a DC expansion port for adding
additional battery packs they plug into
each other with special cables that are
even labeled so you can't plug them in
the wrong way and of course the BMS and
all the protections are already built
into these battery packs so you really
don't have to worry about it the solar
Saga 500x they are bifacial panels they
fold up accordion style so you can store
them easily they're rated for the
outdoors and you can even chain them
together to make bigger arrays if you
want to and finally that smart transfer
switch this is brand new it's a really
cool piece of technology so this is a
big transfer switch right um it's got
this huge cable it's going to go from
here straight into the jackary 5000 plus
and then what you'll do is you will put
in your own Breakers here and those will
mirror Breakers in your main panel box
so basically you get to decide if the
power goes out which
specific outlets and lights and fans
that you want to keep running during an
emergency which is pretty cool and then
with the app you can actually go in and
choose if you want these to be 120 or
240 you can join two of them together
you can change the names of them you can
even see how much power each individual
circuit is using a setup like this could
also work on an off-grid system that
power ever goes out we could put in this
transfer switch and a jackary 5000 plus
with some additional battery Banks so
that if that power does go out or it
needs to be worked on it transfers over
and it uses this right now jackary has
several good deals going on free gifts
worth up to $116.99 and early bird
offers use the code below at the ca
store for 5% off orders over $1,200 or
just swing by their site do some
research and see if the new solar
generator 5000 plus is a good fit for
you all links and info are in the
description this thing's going to pound
through it that's not that's not a good
let me try that again this thing's going
to go through that wood no problem chew
through it this thing's going to chew
through that wood no problem chop
through that wood no problem the jackary
doesn't chop through anything this thing
is going to power our new miter saw and
get through this super fast oh my
gosh okay so I could easily just knock
these out really quick by myself but
then the kids aren't learning right so
we're set it up explained all the safety
protocols for Jet and um he's going
going to do half of these and then Adel
can do some the key this year is getting
the kids to use more power tools
because we can't do it by ourselves and
it's fun for the kids to learn I know
firsthand how annoying it is to be the
go get this go get that so they're going
to be in charge of a lot more this
year more power ready
somebody's making me be responsible
don't be mad at me I'm a little man I
just think we should build one of these
before we cut all our 100 pieces of wood
so what you're saying is you don't trust
my measurements oh I know you've cut
them to the size you want to cut them to
I'm just I just want to make sure that
it's going to build the size frame that
we
want so what you're saying is you don't
trust my measurement I just want to
double check before we cut off that's
what he think
all right we going to measure it making
me
measure tell me that I'm right this
should be 1 in short 31 31 plus half
inch of plywood on each side it's 32
yeah okay it's what it is and then this
should be what 52 or 54 no no 52 because
the window is
48 you're getting other measurements
stuck in your hold on let's double check
the measurements for the window is 28x
48 so 52x 32 yeah it should be yeah okay
so what is it it means you're doing a
great job it's perfect it's what it's so
good it's what what was the word perfect
right what I thought it's right on so we
don't have to put any more together
right no I think that's good it's what
all the boards are cut now we just have
to wait on johon and ADI to finish
screwing them all together and then we
can rip some plywood but right now I
need to get the rest of those Boards out
of the truck because the plywood's on
the bottom and we need to be able to rip
the plywood so I think what we should do
is take some of those 2x4s up because a
lot of them are for horizontal braces
across the porns as well as the braces
that go from the top of the window forms
to the ground so each window gets two of
those
long supports so that's 26 boards that
we need to take up there
some of you have commented about my new
pants um problem is I'm so used to paper
thin pants these are so hot so I got to
change then I can get back to
work all right let's go
oh
not bad for a day's work we got all of
the 2x4s for all 13 Windows built now we
have a bunch of plywood sitting in the
back of the truck we're going to have to
rip that down tomorrow and then get
these things fully built but good
progress for today we'll see you
tomorrow all right we're on on day two
of making the 133 window forms for The
Roundhouse and you may have seen us try
to rip plywood in the
past it was very difficult but it's
difficult no more because I have a Craig
rip stop makes my job so much easier
just set it to 16 in and rip all the
plywood let's get started
Game
Changer I don't want to say Game
Changer it works what do I say hey what
do I don't know success
that was so fast why didn't I not have
one of those before thank you to our
friend Steve from steampunk Steve on
YouTube and um he's the one that let me
use his rip stop so uh for the workshop
when we had to cut plywood for the
frames that went on the inside Courtyard
but after using that I was like I have
to get one that was so so fast and so
accurate No clamping no straight edge
just set it and go so thank you Steve
that was a great idea now we got to cut
them down to size and screw them on the
weekend is gone I'm on
my we took our boards down to
the in the Deep SE i'me like
CH sorry we're getting Sid tracked on a
little project we can't quite explain it
yet but we just need to know if this is
going to work hold
up
bra all right time to put all the forms
together we went ahead and did one off
camera just to make sure we know what
we're doing and that we have a good
system so we only have 12 more to do
it's going to go really fast
everything's going to be
great maybe we'll even get to set a
couple tonight
I mean we might get crazy and put them
all
in we'll see so as I'm sitting here
editing this video that you're watching
right now I realize no one hit record
when we went to attach all the plywood
to these forms so just pretend there's a
long Montage of Montage Montage
Tage just pretend there's a
big just pretend you saw us putting the
oh my gosh just keep going Montage
that's the word it was here
continue hey hey we got those forms made
so quickly that we are putting them in
way to go sorry I wasn't out I had we
weren't planning this at all guys had to
work on some videos so uh yeah they're
built so now we're going to we're going
to test we call it test fit okay well
here's the thing we installed one and
then we're like like you know what we
should do we should put them all on the
wall and make sure that we actually want
this many windows well just that they're
in the right spot and that we want this
many windows well you already built them
well you know okay so this is what we're
doing setting all the window forms up
taking a look getting them measured and
then making them level and installing
them yeah we'll get them in um but I
think it is important because this is a
lot of windows it's a lot of like
spacing and we just want to make sure
that they're where we think I mean we
already marked it but who knows we could
change our minds yep that never
happened why my M me with now all the
times I let you in and then you let me
down I call be B so I need you back
around other times I let you in and then
you let me down I should really let you
go
now our seem to put the phone down
I've been lying here alone
now I should really let you
I'm get way way to your heart I can't
see
straight this next one's going to be a
problem for whatever reason when we were
tamping it during the workshop there's
this one section that goes like down
almost two full inches I still don't
know what happened um so that means
we're going to have to raise this window
up at least 2 in probably more to get
all the tops of them to match so let's
see how many pieces of wood we have to
put underneath the form
that is a lot of
Windows oh my
gosh hey hey you made some serious
progress today I did ad and I we made
all those forms MH and then we installed
six out of 13 forms so halfway done yeah
and even now I mean it looks crazy did
we just install 14,000 windows in our
house that's what it feels like it looks
insane but this is going to pay off big
time on down the road yeah and it you
know we spent a lot of time just trying
to figure out how to space these because
they're spaced based on you know the
frame walls the rooms but also visually
from the outside we wanted to make sure
there was still some sort of pattern so
when you drove up it wasn't like they
were just randomly yeah uh I think I
think we got it there's like there's
like one spot where the pattern stops
but it's far enough back around that I
don't think anybody and the pattern only
stops because we have a bathroom before
a bedroom so yeah it's all good guys we
have so many windows and we have more to
install which is what we're going to do
tomorrow yep we'll see you
then
it maybe take a ride on this pipe train
hold it in wait for it here come to fall
oh your mind's been spun into a web it's
spider going to catch them
all one more day we have seven more
frames to put in nope we have seven more
forms to put in I keep calling them
frames but these are forms they will be
removed we're putting seven more in
we've got six in kids are out here to
help me Jonathan's editing video
hopefully he'll be out in a little bit
but let's get started
he
he
okay so here we are in our bedroom we've
set the windows up now we are measuring
and making sure they're exactly how we
want it so let me show you oh sorry I
was going to say for those of you who
are just joining us oh this bedroom has
a bathroom in it and so that's what this
is here there will be a wall that goes
all the way wall this is our wall right
here yep
right here so all the measurements that
you're taking are just imagine there's a
wall where I
am yeah so we have done some measuring
in between the windows we're going with
81 in which gives us plenty of room to
put a king-size bed in the middle of the
windows I was researching a bunch of
funu fun yeah cuz I was like you know we
could put our bed there we could put our
bed here we could put it over there this
is the best way for fun oh is it best
way for fun I like that there's a lot of
um you know movement coming through the
door and through this door and so you
don't want your bed in the middle of
that energy okay so here we are this is
where our bed is going to go right here
it's going to come out to
here just pretend I'm laying down so I
know a lot of people said this doesn't
look like a big room but think about
that a king-size bed is only going to
come to here and you have how much more
room probably 15 10 15 feet all of this
there will eventually be a dresser here
maybe a TV maybe
not who knows will there be a TV let's
talk about our other window in our
bathroom yeah go ahead so we mentioned
earlier that some of these forms are
like real operable windows and some of
them are something else here's one of
the other things that these are so in
this bathroom remember there's a wall
right here this is our shower drain so
the wall actually comes all the way here
so this is what we would call the center
of the shower the shower is going to
come out probably to about here and then
we're going to have sort of a glass
bottle feature here most of the way up
and then we'll have a small operable
window up high so that we can let steam
out I mean we'll have a vent but in case
we just want some fresh air in the
bathroom that'll let us do that and
we're going to do that over in the kids
bedroom sorry over in the kids bathroom
as well can I talk about my bottle wall
here okay this wall is not going to be
just a framed wall of course is going to
have bottles on it so about from waist
high up is all bottle bricks may maybe
nope it is there's there's stuff in the
wall that has to stay in the wall it's
all bottle bricks there's mini split
there's it's all bottle bricks there's
Plumbing it's all bottle bricks it's
going to be beautiful
well I'm not sure I want it to be bottle
bricks L
me all right so we're installing our
last two forms this one here is going to
go
uh it's where the kids bathroom is so
remember we talked about going to be a
shower so it'll be right outside of the
shower it'll be glass bottles most of
the way up with a small operable window
and then we're going to put another one
here right next to the mudroom entry do
we decide if this was bottles too no
that's an operable window the whole
thing is an operable window I think so
maybe we can change our mind we're
building it it might be it might be cool
if they're both bottles with little
windows so it's eve and Steven you know
know like I just the designer in me
likes things
even we'll see what happens I don't
know everything changes every which way
you got to hold on to what you need and
if I hide
myself how could I the
world can trust each other always make
things right
what is more
important everything changes every which
way you got to hold on to what you stay
here stay here to
Sun really likes to lay in my think he
likes to lay in everyone's lap
it's take me away
river flows I want to drive on your open
road like the Wilderness where we are
Bor singing
wo there's an oce in your eyes a million
stars that paint the sky so we'll drift
down with the tide singing
wo you you and me let's fly away
somewhere past the Milky Way maybe will
return someday Don't wake me up don't
wake me
up waiting for the sun to rise rainy
days and careless nights
say you will don't say goodbye say it's
all
right throw your caution to the wind to
shelter off my single bed you can call
it Wonderland we could stay the
night you and me let's fly away
somewhere past the mill silky way maybe
we'll return someday Don't wake me up
don't wake me up riding on a endless way
freay trains and aop planes maybe we'll
return someday don't wake me up till we
are
home till we are home
till we are
home till we are
home
W don't wake me up till we
are we are
till we
are till we are
home till we are home
