Hey guys, welcome to gardening upbeat and I hope you are doing very well
So we all love hibiscus as hibiscus is one of the best summer flowering plants
But to get lots of flowers on our plants
We need to do a few very important things and it's the right time to do here in this video
I am going to show you everything step by step and I am also preparing my plants for summer the similar way
So, let me show you what to do
Here is one of my hibiscus plant which is looking somewhat bad
Honestly saying in the winter time
I don't think about all the summer flowering plants too much as I grow lots of winter flowering plants
It takes lots of time while caring for all those winter flowering plants and as it's the end of the season
That means we need to start preparing our summer flowering plants. I am going to work on my plants
So the very first thing that I am going to do is I am going to prune my plant
see if you are thinking about pruning your any plants then this is the best time to do and
You can prune your any plants so that they are going to look much more bushier very soon
You also don't have to throw all the pruned part as hibiscus is really easy to grow from cuttings
So for time being just keep the cuttings in plain water so that they stay well dehydrated
I am pruning at this point because after some days
I am going to get new shoots on both branches and this way the plant is going to look much more bushier
Going to prune the plant
Similar way on every side and I am just trying to give it a nice shape
Now the plant is looking somewhat better and let's take a look at the next step
The second important thing is for most of the perennial plants
We should try to upgrade the size of the pot every year or at least once in two years
I am going to use one 16 inch pot 16 inch radius and to be honestly saying
It's really a very very useful
You don't have to use 16 inch if you don't want to you can use simply one size higher pot
That means if your plant is in 18 spot at this time, then you can use either 10 inch or 12 inch
But if it's not possible for you to upgrade the size of the pot
Then there is one more way and for that we need to see the next step
The third important thing that I am going to do is I am going to prune the roots of my plants
For me, it's actually not important as I am using a quite huge pot
But anyway
I am going to do it as if we prune the roots during this time of the year
New roots are going to grow much faster
The fourth important thing is I am going to give my plant fresh soil
My soil is somewhat sandy type and that's why taking 60% normal garden soil and 40% as
Fermicompost
If your soil is not sandy
Then you can take three different components in equal part where one part is normal garden soil
Second part is either cocopeat or sand and third part is fermicompost or compost cow dung powder
While preparing the soil mix, please take time and mix everything well
All right. Next I am just going to report my plant and then I am going to inform you the other three important things
The fifth important thing that I am going to do is I am also going to add three different fertilizers today itself
The first component is 50 grams of mustard cake
Basically, it provides the protein to the plants protein and other micronutrients
And if you don't have mustard cake, then you can use either fish emulsion or blood meal
The second important element which I am adding is 50 grams of bone meal
Instead of bone meal we can also use rock phosphate
You may be also wondering why I am using bone meal as it's known that
Hibiscus doesn't need lots of phosphorus. Well to be honestly saying phosphorus is needed for every plants and
Since I am using quite huge pot
I want my plant to produce lots of roots and without phosphorus. They are not going to do that
That's why I am adding 50 grams of bone meal
And the third element which I am adding is multiplex bio extract organic fertilizer
Basically, it's going to promote the growth of the roots and it's also going to help the plant to uptake the nutrients
much faster I
Am adding 10 grams, which is 2 teaspoon
Next adding more soil on the top and that's it. Next we can water our plant
The next important thing is please water your plant
Thoroughly just after repotting. If you are also using similar pot like me
then please make sure that you are keeping a gap of at least 2 inch in between the top layer of the soil and
surrounding the rim
This is important so that we can provide enough water to our plants
All right, just after pruning the roots
Please keep the plant in bright area for next 4 to 5 days and then only keep the plant under direct sunlight
Finally, the last important thing is during this time of the year. We can see lots of
Pest attacks on our plants, especially the mealybugs or even aphids
So, please keep applying the pesticide on regular basis
For that you can use neem oil and dose is take 5 to 7 ml neem oil
Take 4 ml light hand wash just like saffron or that all
mix them in 1 liter water and then spray the both surfaces of the leaves once in 7 to 10 days and
In case it rains just after applying the pesticide then please repeat it again within 48 hours
So guys, these are the 7 most important things that we need to do on our hibiscus plants
And if you do at this time, you are going to get 100% successful result
I hope you found this video useful
