Bear claims this is the warmest suit on the market.
It has infrared technology and also a hefty price tag.
But is it worth your money?
Let's find out.
When you buy a wetsuit, you want to have a wetsuit that looks good.
The Bear Reactor does.
The suit comes in black with a blue or a red touch and in September they launched a new
one that's the Titan and it's completely black and I love the design of that one.
Underneath you will find a simple knee pad.
They look a little bit fragile but we are using this suit for over a year right now
and we are instructors and we sit a lot on our knees but we didn't find any damage on
our knees or pads right now.
Furthermore you can see the red lining over here.
Those are the seams and they are not stitched together but they are glued together.
On top of that they have a waterproof tape so you don't get any water in the suit through
the seams.
But there is one downside.
Over time it's possible you can get little fractures in the taping.
So the taping isn't waterproof anymore.
One of the biggest features of the Bear Reactor is found on the inside and that is the Cellion
Infrared technology.
But we will get to that later.
Next up is the fit.
Bear normally doesn't use any zippers but for the Bear Reactor they made an exception.
They used zippers for on the ankles.
I found it really easy to get in and get out of the suit.
The seals of the suit are really long and they are doing a great job to keep the water
out.
The actual fit of the Bear Reactor is a little bit different than the previous Bear suits.
That means for me personally that I have a little bit more room on my lower back.
I have also heard this from other instructors who also dive with the Bear Reactor and they
have the same problem.
Normally I'm really cold in the water even when I dive in the tropics.
Bear claims this is the warmest suit on the market and when we got it I took it for a
spin in Gozo.
Water temperature in Gozo is 20 degrees Celsius.
Normally when I'm diving with my old 7mm wetsuit I will need an over suit.
Otherwise I will be cold in the middle of the second dive.
For this test I did 12 dives in 5 days.
So that is 2 dives a day.
At the max I did 3 dives.
I have to say I was really impressed by the suit.
When I did 2 dives a day I wasn't cold at all.
But when I did 3 dives a day at the end of the third dive I was a little bit cold.
We think it's because of the Ultrawarm Cillian Infrared technology.
That converts your body heat into infrared energy and that reflects back into your body.
This is not just us saying.
Bear has medical studies that proves this claim.
So conclusion.
Is the Bear Reactor worth a buy?
In my opinion yes.
I would recommend this suit for people who are really cold in the water.
But if you are not that cold in the water I would spend my bucks on something else and
buy a little bit cheaper one.
But if you're gonna buy this suit make sure you're gonna try it before you buy it.
