Tusa Paragon Dive Mask Review | Most Expensive Dive Mask | Scuba Gear Review

This is the Tusa Paragon and this is one of the most expensive masks out there today. Only the Atomic Aquatics is more expensive. Although this is a great mask there are a few gimmicks in it which make it more expensive than needed. So let's find out in our review of the Tusa Paragon. The first gimmick is the frame which is made out of three materials and extremely tough. This might come in handy when you drop the mask but is it really necessary? The most impact a mask endures for most divers is when they get a fin kick to the head and normal masks deal with it just fine. So this seems like a thing which is made more expensive than needed. The lenses of the Paragon are not that big but big enough. The field of vision is quite decent. Tusa put a coating on lenses which they call the UV420 coating and this protects your retina against harmful UV light and HEV light which can damage your retina. The lenses are also treated with an ANR treatment and this ensures that 95% of the light actually reaches your eyes and with normal glass this is around 80%. This results in less reflections, more vivid colors and better contrast and ultimately better overall view. The Paragon actually delivers on this promise. When you wear the Paragon it feels like you're wearing a slightly tinted pair of sunglasses and this is really easy on the eyes. So onward to the skirt and this is a silicone skirt of course and Tusa implemented their Freedom technology and we're quite fan of it. It feels great on your face and the Paragon is no exception. It's really comfortable and that's not just us saying. We gave the mask to five different instructors. They all wore it and they all loved it. Another great thing about the skirt is that it will fit almost all divers. The last thing we want to address is the buckle on the side. This can move up and down in five positions and this seems another over expensive solution because the old buckle on the Seos and the One are just fine. So is the Tusa Paragon worth the buy? Today on Amazon the mask is $189.95 which is crazy expensive and you have to take this price in consideration when you buy this mask. If it was cheaper we would say yes go for it because it's a great mask. The lenses are great, the skirt is great, but it's just too expensive.
