The LL House by R.A. Architects, situated at the foothills of Tepez Tico, seamlessly
integrates architecture with the mountainous landscape, creating a harmonious blend of
natural and built environments.
The house is composed of monolithic structures resembling weathered stones from the mountain.
The fragmented and recomposed prisms form habitable spaces, playing with the perception
of access and openness, creating a facade that both invites and withholds.
The interior is designed to maximize the connection with the surroundings.
After a compressed entrance, the house opens up to a spacious garden that serves as the
central axis.
Around this garden are distributed the rest areas, including four bedrooms and the main
This configuration allows the creation of patios and staggered views connecting the
different volumes, generating a flow of natural light that enriches each space.
Natural light is maximized through the fragmentation of volumes and the placement of internal patios,
allowing light to enter from different angles and at various times of the day, accentuating
the textures and colors of the materials.
The house utilizes a construction system based on expanded polystyrene panels, covered by
a three-dimensional wire structure that is concreted with tones reminiscent of the nearby
mountains.
This choice ensures thermal and acoustic efficiency while also establishing a visual connection
with the natural surroundings.
The interior is characterized by sobriety that highlights the materiality of the structure.
The spaces remain minimalist, allowing the play of light and shadow and views of the
garden and mountains to be the main protagonists.
The extensive garden not only acts as the heart of the house but also reflects the natural
environment of Tepaztico.
The green areas are designed to integrate seamlessly with the local vegetation, creating
a peaceful and serene setting that complements the architecture.
The LL House exemplifies how contemporary architecture can dialogue with nature, using
fragmentation and volumetric play to create a home that respects and celebrates its environment.
