Hello and welcome to another Britney's beauty experiment. I'm excited for experiment number
two. If you missed it last month, I did a video where I tried face taping for a month to give you
my verdict before and afters, thoughts, results. If you haven't seen that video yet, I will have
it linked down below. Please save or share this video and watch all the way to the end. That is
what tells YouTube that you enjoyed the video. So with all of that being said, let's get into
this month's crazy unhinged beauty experiment. I had the wild idea. I'm like, I see these skincare
products that are insanely expensive. I'm talking hundreds of dollars for a little,
little bit of skincare. Does it actually work? Is it worth the money? Or is it all marketing hype?
I wanted to put it to the test. So what I decided to do was put the most expensive skincare products
that I could get my hands on only on one half of my face. And then on the other half of my face,
at first I was just going to do nothing just as like a pure control. However, I was personally
more interested in seeing if it was worth investing in higher end skincare versus less expensive
alternatives. I am a research enthusiast like that is my passion in life. So I had
way too much fun doing this. Let's start down and dirty. I'm going to show you my
before photos and just kind of share my skin concerns my situation. So I'm 39 I'll be 40
in July and I am on a quest on a journey to age gracefully and naturally like I don't have any
and I don't want to or plan on getting that for as long as I can. So we can zoom in here and look
at my skin up close. I have larger pores. That's always been a major concern of mine. But you guys
it's also okay to have larger pores like this is what real skin texture looks like I did this for
six weeks. So over a month, I did not do anything else. During this time, I wanted it to really
just be on the skincare products. But I do take a bunch of supplements, including the ritual
highest Sarah skincare supplement, I did continue to take that but anything else happening on my
face is just these products. And before I tell you what side I put the high end versus the more
affordable skincare on my face, what is your guess? This is my left side. And this is my right
side. But I know there's like some flipping and mirroring on camera. So what do you think guess
down below left side, right side? Do you notice any sort of visible difference? This is my mole,
I have one little mole right here. So this is the side I did all of the affordable, budget friendly.
And then my left side is the side where I did the very high end luxury expensive skincare product.
I did go all the way down my neck. So that is our setup. Let's first meet the products starting with
kind of what inspired this because I have been curious about the SK to facial treatment essence
for years. I'm like what in the world could be in this water watery substance that is worth the
price $245 for 7.7 ounces. What is in here? That's the first thing I wanted to know. But first,
I'm just going to share what my alternative. These are not all exactives. I'll get into that.
But they are alternatives that do similar things. So this is the alternative I got. It is a facial
essence toner that also has some fermented ingredients, which is what this has a fraction
of the price. This is $17 for seven ounces. So if we're doing the math here 12.7 times the price,
does it make 12.7 times the difference? Now the reason this SK to is so expensive is because of
this one ingredient that they have patented and it is called pitera yeast derived filtrate with
over 50 nutrients, amino acids, antioxidants and vitamins. It's designed to promote cell
turnover, hydration and skin barrier repair. And in addition to that, it has some humectants that
are nothing too crazy. So basically this is a fermented filtrate. And so this more budget
friendly toner, not only does this have really amazing reviews, but it also has a fermented
filtrate in it. It's just derived from a different ingredient. So this is derived from astragalus.
I was going to say asparagus. So has the similar anti aging properties. It's a fermented filtrate,
which basically what you need to know it's supposed to be full of antioxidants and amazing
for the skin. Next up in the am is my exfoliation step. I am really big on exfoliation specifically
because I've got the large pores and that is what has helped me the most. So on the luxury side,
I have been wanting to try the Sunday Riley good genes. This is a lactic acid chemical exfoliant
that's supposed to give the glow, the radiance, and it has such a huge following, but she's
expensive. Okay, so this is $85 for one out. And this is primarily lactic acid, which is a gentle
alpha hydroxy acid that helps to exfoliate the skin. Now, the battle I want to put head to head
is my favorite chemical exfoliant and that is that's where skincare my mom's skincare company,
her famous product reveal 10, which is also lactic acid chemical exfoliant, but also has
glycolic acid in there, which is a bit stronger. I am a huge glycolic acid, it goes a little bit
deeper into the skin, and it is less than half the price. So I wanted to see did I notice any sort of
a difference. And even though this is my mom's skincare company, I'm going to be completely
objective like you guys will see with your own eyes any differences or result and then I topped
that with moisturizer. This is this is another cult classic I just had to try for myself,
the La Mer on the luxury side. So this little baby right here $390 for two ounces key secret magic
ingredient that justifies the price. So they say is called Miracle Bra. It is fermented sea kelp
with antioxidants and minerals for hydration, repair, and lime tea. And then this Nivea cream,
this is for face and body. This one right here 999 for 13.5 ounces, so 75 cents an ounce. And
I've seen all over TikTok that these are supposed to be very similar. Now for the PM after cleansing,
I would do the SK two and our other toner on this side. And then I went in with another ultra
bougie ultra talked about luxury product. And this is the Augustinus Bader, the rich cream,
this is $550. And the reason the justification for that astronomical price tag is TFC eight
patented complex. That is basically a peptide that is supposed to support cellular renewal.
The founder of this Augustinus Bader, I think he was studying how to heal burns and burn victims
and found this complex that helped with wound healing. But basically, it's a lot of good
hydrating oils and peptides. So like a peptide serum. Now the product I put this head to head
with is Vassar skincare quench because this has almost the same ingredients minus the TFC. So
that is why I chose this one going back, I probably would have picked a maybe the ordinary peptide,
but I was trying to single out if that TFC eight was a factor that really made any sort of
difference in my skin says $40, but still versus 550. It's still much more affordable. And I know
this is a clean product and has the best ingredients. So that is the second step. So
now we're going to go into the real up close and personal footage that I have no shame showing you
guys this is what real aging skin looks like and I'm okay with that you can judge me not judge me,
but we're all here for science. Okay, now let's get into this footage. And this is from the first
day I already showed you these clips of me applying the products one by one. Now it's a
week later and I wanted to see if there was any type of scientific analysis I could do beyond
just me looking in the mirror and trying to discern if there's any results. So I found this
little gadget online that is supposed to be a skin elasticity and hydration tester. And the number
on the left there that 37% is telling me the hydration level. So 37% hydration on the high
end side, and then it's showing 46% hydration on the affordable side. That second number is your
oil content. Now I don't know how accurate this is, but I was having fun using it anyway. And I
check in every several days here. And again, this time using this tester, it's showing 47%
hydration on the high end side and 45% hydration on the affordable side. So not a huge difference
there, but it is improving. Then a week later, I apply the skincare routine and then another
little test. And this is showing 63% on the high end hydration and 50% on the affordable.
One thing I was really noticing, like my pores are looking smaller, smoother, my forehead's
looking good. Now, this is the last time that I do the test. This is the final week of testing,
do the full skincare routine. I'm noticing over time, my skin tone is looking a lot more even,
plump, like I'm seeing overall differences. And then this final test, this one showed 46%
hydration on the high end and 41% hydration on the affordable side. Now here is the before and
after. Six weeks later, on the left is our before, on the right is the after, after six weeks.
For me, just from the naked eye, I feel like my skin tone looks more even, more bright,
and my pores look a bit smaller, smoother. So I can definitely tell the difference overall.
Now here's a still shot before and after, completely unretouched. And you can see,
but here's where it gets crazy. This photo on the left is a photo of my skin six months ago.
The lashes, wow, they're ridiculous. Somebody needed to stop me. And then the middle is six
weeks ago. And then on the right is the more recent. So I'm looking at these, I can definitely
see a difference, but I wanted some scientific analysis. So I call in ChachiBT. And before you
come for me, some people are not liking that I use ChachiBT, some concerns about the environmental
impact. And I did look into this more. There is a huge priority right now in using renewable energy
sources. But I did just want to address it because I'm getting some criticism. So I put these before
and after photos into ChachiBT. I said, do the analysis for me, look at this, analyze this.
So what it says is overall, the six months period from left to right, there's a noticeable reduction
in visible pore size. In the more recent photo, my skin looks firmer, particularly around the
cheeks and nasolabial folds, which was my biggest concern. My fine lines look better and my overall
skin radiance looks brighter. I wanted a comparison between the high-end side and the more affordable
side and did the analysis here. And it's saying that looking from the left to the right side,
there is a difference, but that difference is about 10 to 15% versus the cost difference,
263 times the price. Okay. So now I am back with my final thought. Honestly, I could not notice a
difference visibly or feel a difference in any way that would justify those kinds of price tags. If
there was one thing that I maybe might continue to purchase, if I had to pick one, it would be
the SK-II, because about halfway through, I figured out that I could put this, it's liquid
enough that I can put it in my special facial mister. And don't worry, I was covering half my
face when I was doing this. And I do feel like this would last me for a very long time, even
though it's expensive. You can see six, seven weeks, I barely used any. This was my least favorite.
Okay. This is just, I'm a little bit of a hater. I just feel like someone made up a story about
Miracle Broth and celebrities started using it and they never stopped. I'm going to continue
using it because I spent the money, but I'm probably just going to use it as an eye cream
and on my nasolabial fold. What do you guys think? Sound off in the comments below.
