Final 5:00 WILD ENDING Grizzlies at Rockets | January 13, 2025

Got to be up in these pick and rolls. There you go. That's a trap on Bane. Bane now to Clark. Into the lane to Wells to swing to Jackson. He's open. Offensive rebound, LaRavia. Got to get matched right here. And then he absolutely flattens for VanVleet. And it's called for the goal. Got to go. Shot clock winding down. VanVleet, his grenade. Oh! The Rock and Finlay's. They lead by two. Is there any question of that shot going in? What about Fred VanVleet? And look at Evince Thompson staying in front of John Moran. Spins! Tough shot! How about that for Moran? That is ridiculous. High level basketball between those two. So much going on. What a game we have for you tonight. Tied at 107. Two on green now to Adams. Fred's open. Didn't see him. Now hands it back to Green. Again, deep into the shot clock. Green turns it over. Moran to Wells. And he ends up getting fouled. They'll be able to win and allow Steven Adams to kind of get healthy. And then no Jabari. And you got Cam Whitmore stepping in and playing quality minutes. Look at Fred here. Talk about this moon ball. Those are shots he works on, man. It seems like the higher the pressure, he just steps up, man. And he starts to lock in more. He's a world champ, man. Go talk to him. The Grizzlies are 14 of 18 at the line. Wells just made the first. The rookie out of Washington State's 82 percent on the season. 108-107 Memphis. Oh, I see you, big fella. All right, now you got Alpey back. So if this trap is on Jalen, the short roller. Oh, he's trying to dunk it on me. Yes. They're going to call a foul. Is he out? I think he's out. And he has just fouled out of the game. If he made that game. If he made that. Don't miss out on these. He makes the first, the Monday matinee family pack special. The Rockets take on the Pistons on Monday, January the 20th. So, Greg, again, Clark comes in. He does not provide the same rim protection. He's a better pick and roll defender, but he cannot protect the rim the same. Second 40-point game of the season. For Jalen Green, ninth in his career. John Morant getting more aggressive here. And Ben Thompson doing everything he can. Morant struggled for the most part at Minnesota, but hit two of the biggest shots of the game late to bring the win home for the Grizzlies as Jaren Jackson Jr. rolls to the lane and scores. Up top to Van Vliet. Back to Shih-Gung. Doesn't take it. Now Will with the left hand. And the Rockets regain the lead back. And for Guido. He's ambidextrous. It's unbelievable with his skill level. But that's the difference in the short roll. When you help, Shih-Gung will burn you. And he did right there. Glad you went with ambidextrous instead of amphibious. Morant, intercepted by Brooks. He saw that coming a mile away. He can't get away from a Ben Thompson. First team all defense. Although Morant has 14 of his 29 in this half, Jalen Green has 18 of his 40 and a half. Shih-Gung! Fouled. They've won five of their past six overall, but you can throw everything out that happened last year out the door. Because the Grizzlies were decimated by the Rockets. There's the offensive rebound for Dylan Brooks. As Shih-Gung went one for two. Green's in trouble. Oh gosh. Poked away. Stolen by Memphis. Here comes Wells. Went between his legs. Then it went off the leg of Jalen Green. And ricocheted out of bounds. Memphis still has it. Man, how about the hustle from, for one, Rockets take care of the basketball, but Fran and Jalen covering ground defensively. Shout out Jalen Green's defense and hustle, man. Morant tried to jump it in to Clark. Fouled him. Missed it. Good job of Dylan Brooks not fouling there. Yeah, Brooks is playing the five as is Shih-Gung. Edie's fouled out. Jaren Jackson Jr. has four. Rockets by two. Here's the trap. They blitz Green now to Shih-Gung. Shih-Gung had Thompson's for a moment and it knocked away. Gets it back. And it throws it to Thompson. He's got eyes in the back of his head, man. He just lead on the night for the Rockets, if you can believe it. And the thing about Al Pree, he's so sure-handed. He does not turn the ball over. It's so rare for a big. And look at him up in a trap. To Wells. Quick release. Good! Made the three. Jalen Wells is nice, man. Real nice. One point, Rockets lead. The Grizzlies just find guys like that every year. They got culture. You fit that culture, plug and play. Back to Shih-Gung again. Back to Thompson. And Clark knew that was coming a mile away. And a little too low. Put that thing out. Let him in, Thompson. Go get it. Morant spinning, juking into Clark on Shih-Gung. Lost it. Fouled. And gave the Grizzlies the lead. Huge play there from Clark. He tricked the layup earlier and gets that one to go. All right, you got Shih-Gung in the short roll. That's been good action. 115, 114. Fans rising to their feet. Number two versus number three in the West. Again, two on green. Gets by the two. Drives in on Clark. Hayden Banks hits Houston by one. When in doubt, do what you do best. Love that from Jalen Green. Now you gotta get a stop. He's tied his career high with 42. And Morant loses the ball. First team all defensive, Min Thompson. Jalen Green has tied his career high with 42. He's able to stay in front of Java, right? It is unbelievable. He's doing the impossible here tonight. 27.9 to go. What a game. Jalen Green just outran the double team. Gotta get it across. Get it across. They do just in time to Fred VanVleet. That's Alpey in this short roll right here. Fred navigating, driving, dishing. Thompson lost it, but fouled he was. Ahmed Thompson to the free throw line with 8.8 to play. Eric, this has been a dogfight in this fourth quarter. Let me tell you something. I wouldn't mind a playoff series between these two teams. I mean, there's no lead safe. So these two free throws, you gotta have these if you are Houston. One more free throw to give the Rockets a three-point lead. Made a ball! And the Grizzlies are gonna play here. They do have a timeout left. The Rockets have two. There you go. That's the foul. We saw this the other night. He makes this first one. He'll likely try to miss on purpose, right? That's the one I see, big fella. I guess he'll just make this and try to get a steal. Misses the ball! He missed him! Rebound Houston! And they fouled Van Vliet with 2.7 to go! Now how about John Morant? The other night at Minnesota. Hit a shot to tie the game at 125 as Fred makes the first. And again, late in the season, these teams could be neck and neck. So, and the free throw lows flip to Memphis struggling from free throw. Let him shoot it. Bane for three with .4 to go. What a half he's had. Into Van Vliet! And the Rockets make it three for three against the Grizzlies this season.
