Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today in the presence of God
in the fellowship of this Christian community to celebrate the union
of Mr. Thomas Axton Nichols and Ms. Julie Christine Ward as they become one in Christian marriage.
You've each come to this place with the desire to commit your lives together in the covenant
marriage. As followers of Christ, this marriage is centered on him and he is the bond the two
of you share. Your love for one another flows from a love that God has lavished on you and it's
through that love that we're able to stand here today and express your love for one another.
In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul defines love for us as this. He says love is patient, love is kind,
it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud, it does not dishonor others, it is not
self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs, love does not delight in evil
but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
Julie Moore, in parentheses, that's the last time I'll call you that.
Not sure how to start or finish or any of this but I want you to know that I love you.
From the moment I met you, I was drawn to you.
Your larger-than-life personality and sense of humor drew my attention and your beauty held
my attention. Legitimately, I could not take my eyes off of you. I'm still mesmerized by you
and know that at the moment I'm reading this, that will have never been more true.
Love is a verb though, John Mayer reference. I love the way you worship. Watching you worship
as I lead will most certainly be my favorite thing, probably until I watch you teach our kids
about Jesus. Paxton, my best friend, my love, I can't believe we're finally standing here on
our wedding day. We have patiently prayed for and waited for this day for almost four years.
I knew the moment I met you that I was on to something special and very shortly after,
faster than I was willing to admit, knew that you were the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life
with. To actually be here though is the most surreal, incredible feeling I have ever experienced.
Jesus is in this. I can feel it and I pray everyone feels his love today.
I, Paxton, take you, Julie, to be my wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward,
for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health,
to love and to cherish till death do us part. I, Julie, take you, Paxton, to be my wedded husband,
to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse,
for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish,
to love and to cherish, till death do us part, till death do us part.
Blessed to meet you by the state and as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ,
I joyfully pronounce you husband and wife. What God has brought together,
let no one separate it. Paxton, you may kiss your bride.
