exciting developments are unfolding on
the road to the Moon first we'll dive
into the latest updates on Blue Ghost
since it's launch aboard spacex's Falcon
9 highlighting some remarkable
achievements next a major change has
been just announced for the Griffin
lunar Mission set to launch on Falcon
heavy later this year and finally a
well-known European company has been
selected to play a crucial role in
building an essential component of the
lunar Gateway project let's explore
these exciting updates on today's
episode of great SpaceX launched on
January 15th a falcon 9 blue ghost
is now 3 weeks into its 60-day Mission
according to the mission timeline it
will spend 25 days in Earth orbit until
approximately February 8th or the 9th
followed by a 4day journey to lunar
orbit around February 12th or the 13th
it'll then spend 16 days in lunar orbit
preparing for landing expected between
February 28th and March 1st the Final 14
days will focus on Surface operations
with the mission concluding around the
15th or 16th of March at the time of
this update Blue Ghost remains in Earth
orbit but even in just these three weeks
it has already achieved remarkable
Milestones on the 15th of January
shortly after separating from Falcon 9's
second stage Blue Ghost captured its
first image in orbit showcasing NASA's
x-band antenna system and the Lexi
payload through the spacecraft's top
deck by the 17th Firefly Aerospace
announced that blue ghosts fluid and
propulsion systems have been
successfully primed ensuring proper
distribution of fuel and oxidizer to the
engine in preparation for its first
major burn this process was crucial for
calibrating the propulsion system ahead
of a key maneuver that would Propel the
Lander closer to the moon on the night
of January 18th the first burn was
successfully executed a moment Firefly
celebrated as a big win data from the
maneuver confirmed a precise Delta V
Target accurate within just 2 mm/s and
an increase in the Landers Pare setting
the stage for the next crucial Burn by
January 21st blue ghosts on board
cameras continued to capture stunning
imagery including an extraordinary shot
of Earth eclipsing the Sun these
breathtaking visuals not only serve as a
testament to the spacecraft's capability
but also contribute valuable data for
scientific and astronomical research in
another breakthrough on the 21st and
22nd of January NASA and Firefly
announced that the Luger payload aboard
Blue Ghost had successfully connected
with Earth's Global navigation satellite
system from a record-breaking distance
of
25,6 74 Mi or
331,000 kilometers as the Lander
continues its Journey This Record is
expected to be extended even further
this achievement marks a significant
step toward advancing navigation and
communication for future lunar missions
by January 24th Blue Ghost delivered yet
another striking image this time a full
view of Earth described as a stunning
Blue Marble moment what made this
capture even more impressive was that it
occurred during blue ghost's second burn
designed to raise its apy in preparation
for Trans lunar injection images of our
home planet from space never fail to
inspire and this one was no exception
then on the 27th blue ghost's top deck
camera captured its ultimate destination
the moon though it appeared as a tiny
Speck of light at the time this marked
an exciting moment the spacecraft was
locked onto its Target and the journey
was well underway by the 30th new data
arrived from NASA's scalps payload
aboard Blue Ghost this instrument
provided observations on the effects of
engine plumes interacting with lunar
rulith during Landing a critical study
for refining future moon landings on the
31st Firefly released another
mesmerizing video capturing an earth
eclipse in progress this time with the
moon in view these stunning visuals
continue to add to the mission's
accomplishments by the 3rd of February
the company had initiated a tus 5day
countdown for the burn that would Propel
Blue Ghost out of Earth orbit and onto
its 4-day journey toward the moon
finally on the 4th new live and thermal
images of the moon were released
offering a detailed look at the Landers
intended touchdown site Marium NASA
provided additional insights on the
location describing it as a vast bassal
covered plane spanning 68,000 square
miles this ancient lunar feature was
formed billions of years ago when a
massive asteroid impact flooded the
region with molten lava within mer
chissum lies mons Trail a rounded
volcanic Dome that is nearly 500 ft
above the surrounding terrain
understanding the site's geological
history could provide key insights into
the moon's past and the evolution of the
early solar system the scientific
significance of Mer Chisum cannot be
overstated it will offer NASA its first
geophysical measurements that truly
reflect the moon's bulk composition
While Blue ghost's journey in Earth
orbit has been packed with Milestones
the most critical phases still lie ahead
the upcoming lunar transfer orbital
operations descent and eventual surface
Mission will bring even more exciting
developments as the mission progresses
we can expect an incredible influx of
data images and videos offering
unprecedented insights into our closest
Celestial neighbor of course we must
also acknowledge the other spacecraft
that launched alongside Blue Ghost
Japan's ipace hako R also known as
resilience over the past 3 weeks ipace
has been consistently updating its
Mission Milestones sharing images of the
spacecraft and Earth from space unlike
Blue Ghost resilience is on a slower
trajectory to the Moon meaning there are
still many exciting moments ahead for
this Mission as well later this month
another major lunar Mission im2 could
take flight with spacex's support SpaceX
and intuitive machines have already
collaborated on the im1 mission and
anticipation is building for what im am2
will achieve the road to the Moon is
wide open and the momentum is undeniable
draw from past experiences these current
missions are progressing smoothly
inspiring confidence in the future of
lunar exploration every successful
Milestone strengthens our optimism for

if you haven't already to our channel to
stay updated on spacex's latest
developments indeed spacex's role in
lunar missions continues to evolve and
one of the most recent developments
involves a major change to to the
Griffin Lander mission on the 5th of
February astrobotic the company behind
Griffin announced that the mission will
now carry the Venturi astrolab Rover
known as the flex lunar Innovation
platform or flip for short to the moon
this Rover is set to operate in the noal
region near the lunar South Pole a prime
location for scientific exploration flip
appears to be a direct replacement for
the Viper Rover which was removed from
the Griffin mission after facing
cancellation last year the new Rover
will be flown under NASA's commercial
lunar payload Services Task order
awarded to astrobotic after NASA
scrapped Viper's original Flight Plan
astrobotic immediately sought a
replacement Hawthorn based Astro lab
emerged as the ideal candidate with flip
being similar in both size and Mass to
Viper because of this John Thorton CEO
of astrobotic noted that the Lander will
only require minor modifications such as
slight adust Ms to the ramps and
interfaces to accommodate the new
payload astrol lab's CEO Jared Matthews
expressed excitement about the
collaboration stating this partnership
reflects a shared Vision between our two
companies to make Lunar science
exploration and Commercial activities
more accessible and transformative
progress on flip is well underway with
its components set for assembly and
transportation to Cape Canaveral later
this year integration with the Griffin
Lander is expected by October keeping
the mission on track for launch aboard
spacex's Falcon heavy although Viper was
originally intended to search for water
ice deposits at the moon's South Pole
flip is expected to continue that same
Mission while it's disappointing that
Viper won't be flying on Griffin its
Revival on a future Mission remains a
possibility in the meantime flip
represents an excellent alternative and
it will be fascinating to see how it
performs once on the lunar surface if
Viper does eventually fly perhaps it
will still launch on a SpaceX rocket ET
keeping its journey within the same
commercial ecosystem turning to another
major lunar development we have a
significant update on the lunar Gateway
project the United Arab Emirates a key
partner in NASA's efforts to build the
Gateway has officially selected the
elania space to construct the station's
airlock module despite the broader
project facing an uncertain future this
collaboration was cemented with a
contract signed on the 4th of February
between th elenia space and the uae's
Muhammad bin rashed Space Center or
mbrsc for short the airlock module will
be the final component added to the
lunar Gateway its primary functions
include supporting crew extra vehicular
activities managing scientific payloads
mounted externally on the station and
providing additional docking ports for
visiting spacecraft current plans call
for the module to launch aboard the
space launch system block 1B during
Artemis 6 which is not expected to occur
before 2030 while thil elenia space has
yet to reveal specific construction time
timelines the company is expected to
complete early evaluations of the module
this year faes elenia space has been a
major contractor for various Gateway
modules including Halo developed in
partnership with northr Grumman ihab a
collaboration with Issa and jaxa and
esperit developed under Isa additionally
for those unfamiliar with the company's
work the elania space has played a
critical role in building commercial
station modules for axium space the
uae's decision to move forward with this
contract adds some momentum to the lunar
Gateway project which has faced
increasing scrutiny over its high costs
technical complexity and uncertain role
within the emis program while the
Gateway has the potential to serve as a
valuable long-term infrastructure many
argue that it does not align well with
the current Artemis road map which
should prioritize direct human Landings
to maintain a Competitive Edge
especially against China's rapidly
advancing lunar Ambitions despite the
controversy surrounding its future the
gateways develop continues and every new
commitment reinforces its potential
viability but what do you think should
we focus on lunar Landings first and
push the Gateway further into the future
or does the station have a critical role
to play in upcoming missions in my
opinion the road to the Moon is no
longer Just a Dream It's a path being
paved before our eyes with every
successful burn every Milestone reached
and every new image returned from the
depths of space we are reminded that
human Ingenuity knows no bounds missions
like Blue Ghost hako R and the upcoming
im2 prove that we are not just visiting
the moon we are learning how to stay the
universe is vast in our journey has only
just begun this has been Kevin with
great SpaceX thank you so much for
tuning in and until next time keep
looking up
