Common and useful AR verbs in Spanish
Hello! How are you?
There's three main types.
All verbs fall into one of the three categories.
We're going to focus on one of them today.
I'm not going to tell you which one.
I'm going to see if you can guess and see the pattern
based on the words that we go over.
Okay? So, what I'm going to do is
I'm going to show you the word, and I want you to
try to guess what it means.
Some of them are cognates, and if you remember
a cognate is a word
that's the same or similar in English
and Spanish.
Some of them are cognates, some of them are not.
But I'm going to act them out.
I have some props here.
I'm going to try to get you to guess what they are.
Maybe I'll use them in some Spanish sentences.
But your goal is to try to guess
what it means.
And then we're going to see if we can figure out the pattern
to figure out what kind of verbs these are.
Okay.
The first one is
practicar.
I'm also going to have you repeat them.
Okay.
Practicar.
This is a cognate.
Practicar. You could practicar
tenis.
You could practicar
español.
You could practicar futbol.
Practicar deportes.
Practicar anything.
Practicar is to practice.
Good. Good job.
To practice. Practicar.
Okay. The next one.
Not a cognate.
Repitan.
Cantar.
A lot of people say they can't do this.
I can't cantar.
But everybody can.
Cantar is like
la la la la. Cantar.
Cantar.
Cantar is
good.
To sing.
Cantar.
All of these are verbs, remember,
and they all fall in one of the three main categories of verbs.
And they're all very commonly used.
And
the normal ones.
There's nothing special about them when it comes to more advanced stuff.
They're all basic, regular
verbs
in one category.
Practicar.
Cantar.
Llegar.
Remember the double L like me llamo
makes a ya sound.
So this is llegar.
Repitan. Llegar.
Llegar.

What is the pattern?
Llegar. Cantar.
Practicar.
Hablar.
It is. Very good. Good.
It's that AR at the end.
That AR. These are all called
AR verbs.
Because they all end in AR.
AR.
These are called AR verbs.
There's also ER verbs,
and there's IR verbs.
These are AR. They're all going to end in AR.
That's why they're all
in the same familia,
you could say. They're all in the same familia.
They're all AR verbs.
We have cantar, llegar, practicar, hablar.
