EVACUATION ALERT WATCH: Tsunami Hits After 7.6 Earthquake DESTROYS Japan on New Years Day 2024

I can't believe that this is happening guys Happy New Year to you all so it looks like the Earth decided to throw us a little bit of a global party to welcome 2024 and to be honest with you it's a Shaker so seriously places all around the world from Japan Alaska California Hawaii Nevada Washington all the way to Taiwan Iran uh Russia and a bunch of other spots have all felt the rumble of earthquakes just in the past 24 hours guys I mean you may have even felt it yourself let me know down in the comments we have some breaking news out of Japan from early this morning we're learning a 7.6 magnitude earthquake has struck Japan and it's not just the ground shaking there's a tsunami warming these tsunami warnings are popping up left and right guys today is Monday January 1st 2024 quite the start of the New Year huh so you know and I've got some crazy videos lined up to show you guys exactly what's going on it's the whole planet just shaking stuff up on the first day of the year I can't believe we're stting St in 2024 off just like this right but you've got to see these clips for yourself guys it's pretty wild massive earthquakes hit Japan triggering tsunami warnings and know that the United States is kind of sitting on some shaky Foundation here yeah I mean we're talking about earthquakes guys places like California with the San Andreas fault uh the central us with the New Madrid seismic Zone and even Alaska and the Pacific Northwest are on alert for some serious groundbreaking shaking due to their spot on these big fault lines and let me tell you guys when the earth decides to throw a tantrum it can get pretty wild I mean you've already seen it and there's more that I need to show you later in this video e bye do I for now you know let's just kind of chat about something that's super important earthquake early warning systems or eew for sure right so earthquakes they're kind of sneaky they don't usually give a heads up before they hit which is why these early warning systems are a real Lifesaver guys and they give us a quick alert you know so that we can kind of duck for cover and uh power companies can kind of Hit the off switch and and First Responders can kind of get ready to roll out right now one of these cool systems is called Shake alert and it's like the earthquake detective using seismometers to catch the first Rumble and ultimately send down alerts ASAP but here's the kicker guy it only you know it's it's only up and running in California uh Oregon and and Washington yeah so you heard that right so what about all these other states like Arizona like Texas Illinois Tennessee all of these are known to shap I want to turn now to Fox weathers Nicole Valdez following the latest for us this morning good morning Nicole what are we learning about this uh tragic incident good morning and unfortunately what a terrifying start to the new year for some across central Japan we're talking about a situation that is already destroyed at least a few dozen homes according to officials who are actually still uh searching for some among that Rubble um and initially we were also going to be really looking at the potential tsunami threat following that 7.5 magnitude earthquake according to uh Fox Weather meteorologist here uh thankfully that threat the tsunami threat has now diminished a bit initially there were concerns of waves up to 4T High uh really sort of after and following uh that massive powerful Quake there but some of the images we are getting from this region of Japan are just devastating I mean you can see how strong that Quake was as you take a look at infrastructure and power poles uh waving and shaking as it made its way you know over a few minutes some people who were inside their their homes actually who had their TVs on looked and saw messages alerts saying run evacuate immediately as it really shook the the area this struck near anamizu it's in the country's Coastal perfecture of Ishikawa we know there are more than tens of thousands of people without power and transportation disruptions including High-Speed Rail service air travel um unfortunately impacts from this really extending much further out than just the uh perfecture itself that had really the epicenter of this quake and we know at one point those tsunami threats extended as far into Russia uh so this is still a very active and developing situation officials warn that more strong quates could follow in the coming days now I want to point out that these were the first major warnings since really the 2011 earthquake and tsunami that one devastated Northeastern Japan and killed nearly 20,000 people people it also triggered a nuclear meltdown in Fukushima so of course nobody wants to see a repeat of that scenario of that disaster but there is still a lot of concern and fear for the Quakes that could still develop in the next few days and hours um I know we have been hearing from the Prime Minister who has of course been letting people know to try to find anywhere they can to stay safe as we wait to see what develops at this point so really a lot of new information still coming in on this but what a tragedy to start out the New Year absolutely it's uh very concerning and of course uh you see just the amount of uh damages there and when you hear that you know there's all of these uh power outages Transportation being delayed certainly uh very impactful there uh Nicole Valdez there with Fox Weather we sure do appreciate you joining the show to break all this down thank businesses and all the important stuff like hospitals schools and power plants I mean without warning the damage could be massive and bouncing back could be a real headache so in short not having an
