- Hi guys, it's Samia and today I'm trying
exotic fruits with Chef Lyfe.
- Hey, how we doing today?
- I'm so excited to be trying these exotic fruits.
- [Chef Lyfe] So which one you want to try first?
- I want to try the banana.
- Okay. So this is technically a Columbia banana,
that's what makes it exotic,
so it's not like a regular banana.
These actually come from Columbia.
- [Chef Lyfe] So, like a banana,
you can just peel it.
- [Samia] Mm-hmm.
- [Chef Lyfe] It's just a little smaller.
So, here, we'll have you try that.
- Okay. It's going to taste really good, I know it.
Oh.
- [Chef Lyfe] Sweet?
- I give it a ten out of ten.
- [Chef Lyfe] So is it sweeter than a regular banana?
- Mm-hmm. (indistinct).
- There you have it, Columbia bananas.
So, what else would you like to try?
So we have a bunch more fruits.
- I want to try the kiwi.
- [Chef Lyfe] Kiwi? Okay, so this is actually
an Australian kiwi, called a golden Australian kiwi.
- [Samia] Ooh. Ooh, that look so good.
- So, like the regular kiwi, the Australian kiwi
is not as fuzzy on the outside,
but you still can't eat the skin.
So I'll cut a little out for you
so you can go ahead and try it.
- Let me try a little one because I don't know
if I'm going to like this or not.
Mmm.
- [Chef Lyfe] How do like that?
- It's sweet, I like it. It's fine.
Just because it's really good,
I'm going to give it a, let's see,
a four out of four.
- [Chef Lyfe] Four out of four.
The golden kiwi.
- Come, Zayn, come try this Australian kiwi.
- It tastes good.
- [Chef Lyfe] You like that?
- Yeah. Tastes good.
- Let's try this one, what is it?
- This one is a baby dragon fruit.
- I don't know if fire comes out of it.
- [Chef Lyfe] (laughs) Because it's a dragon fruit?
So I'm going to cut it.
I have to get the skin, because you don't eat the skin.
(bouncy music)
- Let's try it.
- I still have to cut past this thick skin on the outer.
(bouncy music)
- [Zayn] It's sweet.
- The little, the seeds, they make it crunchy, so.
But I like it.
So, just because I like it, like, it's fine,
but, just because I like it,
I'm just going to give it a three out of three.
- What do you want to try next?
We got a lot of other stuff,
so it's okay if you don't like it.
- I want to try this one.
Ooh, this is heavy, this is heavy.
- Okay, so this is going to be an Asian pear.
- Asian pear.
- You like pears?
- Okay, so this is an--
- Well, I don't think I--
I haven't tasted one before, I don't know.
- That's all right.
- [Samia] Oh, that looks like an apple
when you open it.
- [Chef Lyfe] Mm-hmm.
- [Samia] Do I eat the skin?
- [Chef Lyfe] Mm-hmm, you can eat the skin on this one.
- It's like an apple.
- Mm-hmm. It's a pear, so it's an Asian pear.
A little bit sweeter.
- It tastes like an apple.
- Texture's a little bit different.
- Dad, I'm trying the Asian pear.
- What do we have here?
The Asian pear. Okay, I'll try one.
How do you like it?
- It's good, I like it.
- Yeah, it tastes just like a regular pear,
but it has a different texture.
- Yeah, it tastes like an apple.
- Well, I can see that, too.
Yeah, I like it. I give it a seven out of ten.
- What is this?
- Okay, so this is what we call a Korean melon.
So it's not like our regular watermelons
that we have out here.
This is a smaller Korean melon.
I'll go ahead and crack this open.
See what this tastes like.
- Ooh, my gosh.
- [Chef Lyfe] I'm going to scoop
all this stuff out right here.
(spoon scraping)
- [Chef Lyfe] Because I don't think you want to
eat the seeds and stuff.
And then we come from here and this is
how we can cut our melon and
get the good stuff that's inside.
(knife chopping)
- [Samia] Thank you.
- [Chef Lyfe] Mm-hmm.
(Samia crunching)
- It tastes like something.
- [Chef Lyfe] It's a melon, so, it's not like a melon?
It's in the melon family.
- I've tasted this before,
but it wasn't a Korean, it was--
- [Chef Lyfe] It's probably going to
remind you of honeydew.
So if you ever had a honeydew melon,
it might taste like honeydew.
- I like it. It's good.
Since I like it, I'm just going to give it
a five out of five.
Okay, let's move on to the next one.
- All right, so, let's see.
Which one of the other (indistinct)
you want to try?
We have tried these, we've tried this,
we tried that.
- I never tried this.
- We have these left.
- These are the same things,
the least biggest didn't cost.
- Well, this one, they look the same, right?
This is a Korean melon, and this is called a Chinese melon.
And they're different because
this one's yellow and one's green,
They're grown in different regions of Asia.
- Oh, that looks like a--
- [Chef Lyfe] Cucumber?
- Yeah.
- [Chef Lyfe] We're going to take a spoon,
we're going to just get all of those seeds out of there.
- [Samia] So it look like candy in a cake.
- So once we get all that out of there,
we can cut it and try it.
- It doesn't look good.
- It doesn't look good?
The consistency is a little thicker
from most of the fruit that we've tried.
- I don't like how it looks inside.
So, guys, I'm going to try the Chinese melon.
Oh, it's hard.
- [Chef Lyfe] It sounds like a carrot.
I've never tried this one, so.
- Right. It's not sweet. Didn't have no flavor.
- Kind of like papaya. Like a cucumber.
- That is disgusting.
So, I think we have one more.
Yeah, we have one more.
- [Chef Lyfe] Okay, the pomegranate. Ready?
So pomegranates' juice is really messy.
Probably like blueberries, if you get it on you. It stains.
So the best thing about the pomegranate is the juice.
And you get the juice off the seeds.
- It's really good.
Zayn, come have some pomegranate!
These are like fruit popcorn, here.
- [Chef Lyfe] Bite.
- Ooh, that tastes so nice, I love them so much.
- [Chef Lyfe] So you can actually bite it
once you get to that part and then just,
you can get a mouthful and just kind of spit it out.
It kind of helps.
- Guys, I hope you like my video,
eating the exotic fruits.
And my favorite one was the Columbian banana
because they mostly like regular bananas.
And then, I have another one, and that's it.
- The pomegranate? You like the pomegranate, too?
Was it your favorite? Good.
A little messy, but they're very good.
- What's your favorite exotic fruit?
