PowerPoint adding video and sound - How to add sound and video to a PowerPoint slide 2010 2013 2016

okay next I want to talk about adding vid uh video and sound onto your uh presentation we can pick on the insert menu and then come way over here and there say you have movies and sounds so I'm going to pick on movie first and then usually you would pick on a movie from a file so that's going to be a a video file maybe an an MP3 or a different kind of video file formats at that point you would pick on movie from file and now it's going to open up uh when this Explorer and you can point to a different folder so let's go to my my documents folder and I'm going to scroll down and I actually have a video uh that's called uh Bill Gates pi and I'm going to pick on okay now this uh it says do you want to how do you want the movie to start in the slideshow automatically or when clicked so I want to say automatically and you can see the video the video is actually just an object on the on this slide and you can move it or you can resize it in the ways you can do with your other objects now I'm actually going to play this uh presentation to to play the presentation uh right from the current slide watch where I'm going to go I want to click on this um this uh movie screen and that does put you in slideshow view but it just runs from the current slide oh that was a rough one but you can see how now the video is actually in the slide at this time I going to hit the Escape C so alls I really did was insert movie from file and then that assumes that you already have the video on your um on your computer now I'm actually going to delete that video I just did that for an example I'm going to delete that now another thing that we can do is insert a sound so this would be a sound file or there's other ways to do a sound as well I'm going to pick on insert click on the pull down for sound so you can do a sound from a file that would work very similar to the movie or you can play a CD audio track so maybe if you have uh a CD you would put that into your computer and play a track from the CD or you can record a sound if you have a microphone on your computer so let's try that one I'm going to say record sound and now my microphone my my little recorder will show up here and I'm going to pick on uh record and I'm going to say testing 1 2 3 testing and I just clicked on okay there now that sound should be uh that sound should be on my slide here's the sound file if I click on that and I'm going to say testing one two three test and then the sound really did play as you can see now a lot of times I want to I want to hit the Escape key A lot of times what I'll do is I'll move that sound actually over here uh so it's not in the actual way of the uh presentation but when we uh we can either add a movie to our slide or a sound file you can also do a sound from a CD or you can record your own sound using your microphone uh if you have one on your computer that's how we can do movies and sounds onto our presentation
