We visit Weston Park RC Show to see some of the most advanced RC models in the world
In this video we have a look at my friend Steve's giant
$40,000 radio-controlled jet with two real jet engines.
My aeroplane gets Game Over stickers and does an air show.
And we have a look at this contraption.
By the way, want to win one of my RC cars? See the link in the description.
So we are going to the Western Park
model shows, got planes there, cars, drones. At the moment I'm in the Isle of Man. The show's in the UK.
So Mark's just come over in my aeroplane to pick me up.
So let's go see what the show's all about and get some footage for you guys.
So here we are leaving Ronald's Way Airport in the Isle of Man and heading to the UK.
This trip would normally take around nine to ten hours by car and boat. In the extra, just over an hour.
So we've just landed at the airfield. We're going to quickly get some stickers put on it, which my friend Lee Howden's doing. Hello, dude.
Any of you guys need any sticker work doing? What sort of stuff do you do? All signs and stickers?
Vehicle graphics, shopfronts, little labels, planes.
So we're going to get all these stickers on there and get it all Game Over'd up. Then after that, Western Park.
I am tempted to give it a full wrap in the future and give it the same color scheme as to Monster Truck.
What do you guys reckon? Give me a comment down below.
Boom! There we go. Stickers complete.
So here we go. All the stickers are on there.
We're just about to go to the air show and I've got a new partner today, Chris. Hello, Chris.
So here's Mark's aeroplane, which is almost the same as my one, but it's a single seater.
So Chris just dumped me off at an airfield. We couldn't land at Western Park.
We were supposed to land at Western Park, but it was too boggy.
So we had to land at a different airfield and now Piers has kindly picked us up.
He's also got a YouTube channel, also got an aeroplane.
What have you got? An Edge 540.
Edge 540 also has no idea how to fly it.
So we're kind of both in the same boat and you're documenting it as well on your channel.
Yeah, I am. It's very young at the moment.
I think I've got 12 subscribers or something.
Right, let's get him some more subs.
Link to Piers' channel down below.
Hopefully we're not going to miss the air show with my own plane,
because that's in about 30 minutes.
We've got about 50 minute drive, so hopefully they're going to be a little bit behind.
Oh, look up there. They're just flying over.
How long have we got left to go?
20 minutes. 20 minutes.
Ah, we're going to miss it probably.
Are we nearly there yet?
Three minutes.
All right, so we missed it, but my friend has got some footage.
So anyway, let's see what the rest of this event is all about.
Hopefully we'll see some cool RC's.
Massive shout out to Bravo 303,
also a YouTuber who managed to get the footage.
Well, we weren't there.
So if you want to see some more footage of the Western Park show,
he's got loads of RC's on his channel, loads of aeroplane content.
Head over to Bravo 303's channel and show him some love.
So these are the global stars.
And Mark is flying Piers' Edge 540.
Chris is flying my Xtra and other Chris is flying Mark's Xtra.
So here we are on location.
We've got Leader Stickerman back in the house.
Oh, we've got Rochester RC over there.
Let's see if we can find the Rochester boss.
Is he in here?
Oh, here he is.
The car's just there.
And it's up.
Hello, boss.
Mr Will in the house.
How are you doing?
Hey, guys.
The boss of Rochester RC.
Sorry to interrupt you, I was trying to sell a bike.
He's got some toys in here, hasn't he?
So we've got Steve in the house.
Steve's been on the channel before with his big jets.
But now he's got an even bigger one.
Check this out.
Look at the size of that, that's mad.
What?
You can almost get inside of that.
How much was it?
£299 off Banggood.
Oh, you can't say, because his wife might be watching.
No, it was a couple of grand, wasn't it?
Yeah, a couple of grand.
It's about £30,000 all up.
And they're building it for me, so I can't take any credit for building it.
Oh, well.
But are you going to give us footage?
Oh, look, there's one going there.
Look.
Here's all the kit in here.
The suitcase of doom.
This is where it all goes wrong.
Oh, no, it's all wet.
It's all wet at the moment.
I landed it in the rain.
Oh.
Oh, that's all wet in there.
Yeah, it's wet.
That's that button there.
Yeah.
Can you do that when it's going along?
I don't think so.
Do it later.
Suicide hatch.
If you look at the radio, can you see everything?
Yeah.
Oh, how do you make it do all that?
Is it all mixing?
Yeah.
OK.
There's that one there.
And this one.
If you look at the flaps.
Oh, bloody hell.
Yeah.
And then, pull that one.
The air brakes.
What else you got?
What's this?
Oh, this one's got two engines.
You've got one engine in there and another one in there.
Oh, are they firing up?
So there's two actual mini jet turbine engines inside of here.
And then do the wings go like...
Oh.
Does it fly much differently if they're in or out?
Not really.
It just gets faster.
But nothing much changes.
When you're flying that, are you thinking there's plenty of granite?
I try and block it out.
But yeah, I do.
Especially here.
Look around here.
There's a little video around here.
You can see all the trees.
So there's plenty of things to crash into.
So the world is my oyster for a good old crash.
So how many jets have you crashed in your time?
I've had lots of accidents where the aircraft's been broken and can be repaired.
You don't want to break them.
But it is bloody annoying and very expensive if you break them.
But essentially, you try your best.
I've got a challenge for you.
You see the hope over there?
Yeah.
Do you think you can fly it through there?
I can also do.
Yeah?
If you sponsor it.
Oh, right.
I've got to pay for the damage.
So here we go.
More footage from Bravo 303.
He's got a better camera than me.
And it's got a better zoom lens.
And he gets better plane footage.
Maybe I need to get a better camera for plane footage.
Don't drop it.
What is going on here?
It's carnage.
There's loads of them.
It's a bit loud for you.
So this is like a demolition derby.
But for model aeroplanes, by the looks of it.
Is that what it is?
See that yak up there doing its thing?
That's a real plane.
Alright, fair enough.
So here we are at the Logic RC tent.
They've got some cool toys in here.
And this thing here, I didn't even know existed.
I've got a little mini crawler track here.
Do you want to do something?
Oh, I was going to say do something cool.
We crashed it.
So this is a great big mansion that Steve rented.
And here's mini Steve.
You bought that?
Yeah.
Go on, give us a guided tour then.
There's LED lights inside of it.
Oh, wow.
So it lights up in the dark.
So when are you going to fly it?
Yeah, when we get all this stuff.
All this waffle stuff out.
What the hell is going on there?
That's the stuff you do, isn't it?
You do all that.
Jet engine on that thing.
That's really dangerous.
No, that looks terrifying.
You wouldn't get me on one of those.
Now this is a real glider with pyros on it.
Thank you.
So there's no engine in that?
Yeah.
Oh, so what is it then?
So what plane is that?
That's a Grub.
A Grom?
Grub.
A Grub?
Grub.
So it's not a glider, it's a Grub.
I don't know what a Grub is, but it's one of them.
So we just got to the hotel room quite late, so I don't want to wake up anybody next door.
It's quite posh, look at this in here.
But anyway, tomorrow, hopefully the weather's going to hold up and we're going to fly back
to the Isle of Man.
Morning.
Ooh, check this place out.
We're back!
And here we go for a quick 40 minute flight from Western Park back to the Isle of Man.
Down there's the airport, and when you land these extras, you can't actually look over
the bonnet.
So you've got to sort of fly these in sideways, looking a little bit out the side window,
then last minute, just before you touch down, quick kick of the rudder, straighten it out
and hopefully land it nicely.
Right, here we are.
Back where we started from.
Chris is taking off to go back to the UK.
The plan is, eventually, once I've learned how to fly it, is to find somewhere here to
keep the plane, and that's going to be my formal transport to get to Isle of Man, to
the UK and back.
Boom!
RC man in the house!
Boom!
So, what is this place?
Where are we at now?
Isle of Man Track and Show.
Happens once a year.
I've never been to anything like this before, I'll probably get some footage and see what
it's all about.
Footage!
Man, look at that air show what it's done to my shoes.
Why does that make me laugh?
If I bring him and do this...
Do you reckon your generator takes you off that?
It's got more power than that.
It does.
This only produces 3.6 kilowatts.
Mine's a 4.2.
So, all that, and you've got a little box of battery in your hand.
Time to change.
Oh, look at that for a start.
Oh, I'm walking in circles.
Good job Whistling Diesel's not here.
It's quite interesting here.
It fails stuff.
Yep.
Beeler.
I don't know what I'm talking about, but I'm trying my best.
Anyway, engine.
That.
I don't know how that stays on there.
Why that doesn't just come off, I don't know.
What stops it coming off?
I've got no idea.
Let me know in the comments.
So, anyway, it goes along here.
Probably something happens inside there.
Down here, the shoe goes into the beeler.
The beeler pushes it.
So, that thing picks it up.
That dumps it down there.
And this compacts it.
And then...
I pick it up by hand and chuck it on the back of the wagon.
How does the spring go on?
It must tighten by hand, mustn't it?
So, apparently, this is a two-stroke.
We're going to see what this sounds like.
So, that is a two-stroke diesel, apparently.
So, here we've got...
I don't know.
What have we got, Arlo?
What is it?
Mason.
Do you know, Mason, what it all is?
So, what do they run on?
Oh, I wanted one of these when I was a kid.
I saw this in the catalogue.
And one of these.
When I was a kid, I would have loved something like this.
That was my dream.
But do you know what?
I want one now.
Are these for sale?
Oh, OK.
We won't touch.
So, that's all steam-powered as well?
They're all steam-powered?
Yes.
What about this?
1930s.
Oh, challenge.
Yeah.
We'll make it very difficult.
OK.
Then we've got to do a race.
OK, that's fine.
OK, I'm ready to do that.
OK, I'm up for that.
Quickest steam-powered RC car.
We'll do that.
Yeah, all right.
Let us know in the comments.
Is that a good idea?
Can I have one of these for sale?
Oh, all right.
There's none for sale.
No diesel.
Right, we've got a shop.
What have we got?
We need to start buying some equipment.
Oh, not for sale.
This is not for sale.
No, no, no.
Them ones.
They're not for sale.
These ones are.
Where?
What does that say?
These ones are for sale.
What does that say?
It says not for sale.
What?
It is for sale, Dad.
These ones.
What does it say there?
£5.95.
So, all of these are for sale.
I think it's just showing you how much things were.
No.
I think that's an old sticker, not a new sticker.
Dad's were covered by grass.
Oh, look at that.
Old school Land Rover.
So, this is a series of some sort.
Series 3, maybe.
I don't know.
I'm not that much of a pro.
Oh, you're too early.
I know, mate.
Anyway, a lot of you guys have been asking where has Andy the Landy been.
Andy the Landy did some restoration.
He's going to get a new chassis, roll cage.
What's that?
What are you doing?
I don't know.
But anyway, I think that's a series 3.
I think.
I know the series 1 has the headlights there.
So, I don't know.
If anyone knows in the comments, let me know.
And that one.
This is that one.
And then you go in front.
Oh, that's the more modern one.
So, this one must...
Oh, this one's a 2.4 Transit engine.
Beautiful.
What are your children doing?
What are you doing?
I did a thumbnail.
I did a thumbnail, didn't I?
That's what they're doing.
Smile.
Give it the old bug.
He's got the YouTube face, look.
They're going to be YouTubers when they're older.
Dad's doing it.
What have you got down here?
Yeah, here.
I've got it down there?
Yeah.
Is it going to fly out?
No.
Kevin and Dad.
Right, what's going to happen?
Whoa.
Wait, what are they doing?
They're plugging.
Oh, they're cute, aren't they?
Yeah.
We're on a tractor.
Woohoo.
What are you so excited for?
We're on a tractor now.
Oh, he's on.
Look at that racket going on here.
Harry's in the house.
Come on.
So what's the controls here?
Brake.
Yeah, yeah.
Watch.
Brake on this side.
Brake.
That's a bit lazy.
You find that out.
Find that out and then you put a shotgun thing in there, whack it, and the explosion will
turn the engine over and fire it up.
So why is it so boom, boom, boom, boom?
So you've got the other bit, hasn't it?
One cylinder.
We're here with the owners of one of these tractors here and they've let Bob drive it.
He's never done it before so hopefully he's not going to crash it.
Greta will not be happy.
Sorry, Greta.
How dare you.
So go on then, what are you doing?
Key on.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, I'm doing something wrong here.
What are you there?
Yeah, I'm doing something wrong.
Alright.
He's going to start it for me.
Come on.
Key on.
Right, key on.
So you've got the light.
Yeah.
Neutral.
Yeah.
Clutch in.
Yeah.
Set to your one.
Thank you.
Clutch in, yeah.
Speed off.
Go on, send it.
To the moon.
Hello.
Neon.
We're on board.
He's got no idea what he's doing.
We're holding on here.
What are you doing, Bobby?
That's a video.
Well, Kenny's come up with an idea that we can go upside down in his plane from the Isle
of Man to the UK.
So I'm seeing how long I can stay upside down for.
One minute.
I'm up to a minute and I'm not going to lie, I feel physically sick.
What I do think I'm going to have to do if I'm going to do this is going to lose some
more weight because I can feel my ass coming through my face.
It's like, oh, I can't.
How long have I done now?
One minute, 17.
I could do it.
I could actually do it.
It's not getting any worse?
No, it's staying at the point that I feel like I'm just going to be sick and that's
it.
Kenny, what are you doing?
Well, Bobby just told you, but we want to fly all the way from the Isle of Man to the
UK, all the way around, in the extra, upside down.
And how long have you done so far?
30 seconds.
How are you feeling?
This feels horrible.
It doesn't feel good, does it?
And we've got to do this for 20 minutes?
Wait to a minute, though.
How long did you do?
A minute.
One minute.
It does make you feel sick, doesn't it?
One minute, 30.
Wait for it.
About a minute, I started feeling really sick.
One minute, five.
One minute, 10.
You'll probably do more than me.
You're up to one minute, 10.
What did Bob do?
130.
Oh, you'll beat me, because you're now, look at that, you're in quite a prime position
here.
He's pretty chilled, though.
He's not, though.
He certainly feels sick.
How are you feeling?
The same.
I don't really know.
It just stays the same, doesn't it?
God, we've got to do this for 20 minutes.
Do you reckon?
Do you know what?
I read a thing once about these people that got stuck on a roller coaster, and they were
stuck in a loop.
Two minutes.
And they were stuck there.
So 10 minutes?
Yeah.
They were stuck there for over 30 minutes.
So we've got to do 10 times this?
People were sick, man, everywhere.
We've got to do this.
20 minutes.
It's upside down.
