#Bridgerton #SimoneAshley Simone Ashley likes to look at the big picture. Her life mantra is to "play the long game and have a long-term perspective on things," she tells us. "Whatever might be happening right now, do what is best in the long run."
My dream role would be, I would love to be a Bond girl.
I guess people might say chicken nuggets are unhealthy,
but I just love chicken nuggets.
I could have them all day, every day.
Hi, I'm Simone Ashley, and I'm here with Harper's Bazaar UK,
and this is what you don't know about me.
My friends would describe me as clumsy and kind.
I think especially when my schedule is all over the place.
One of my best friends, he's always like,
So I'm just a bit chaotic.
I love my friends.
They are the best things in my life.
I always choose to be as kind as I can to them.
What brings me joy is love,
and I think I can find love in my friends.
So I would say at the moment,
my friends are bringing me lots of joy.
I usually get angry when I'm upset.
So if I'm upset about something,
it usually narrows down to that.
So I guess, you know, just universally,
whatever might upset you.
Could be you're disappointed about something
or you get let down about something.
The mantra I live by is to play the long game,
to just have a long-term perspective on things.
Whatever might be happening right now,
do what's best in the long run.
My dream role would be, I would love to be a Bond girl
or to work on an action movie.
And another dream role would be to work on a musical.
I grew up watching all the Bond movies,
so that was something really part of my childhood.
And I don't know, I just always imagined myself
doing something like that.
I think it would be great to see
an Indian Bond girl as well.
And an action movie, I'm super athletic,
so I would love to channel that into my work
in developing a character.
And to be part of something like that,
like Tomb Raider or something.
And a musical because I love to sing
and I love musical movies.
I love stage musicals like Sunday in the Park with George,
Aida, Sunset Boulevard.
So many, Once on this Island.
But as a movie, I loved The Greatest Showman.
Makes me feel so happy every time I watch it.
I love animals, so I think I always wanted
to work with animals.
I love the ocean, so maybe something in that field,
but maybe in a zoo, maybe a zoologist or a vet.
My career highlight.
I would say everything I've done
has always been a highlight for me.
Every single project, no matter how big or small,
has helped change my life in such an amazing way.
The best piece of career advice I've received
is to always focus on your craft, on developing it.
If you ever feel distracted by the noise
or any insecurities you might have
to just always make it about your work.
And for me, that could be in my music,
just spending a few hours on the piano
and singing and exploring different kinds of music.
And with acting, it could be just watching movies
that inspire me and challenging myself.
Picture This is all about a girl called Pia
who is living in London trying to make it
as a photographer in her studio.
She gets her fortune read and she gets told
the next five dates she goes on will be,
one of them will be the love of her life.
And then chaos ensues.
I hope people watch the film and just feel happy
and have a laugh and feel uplifted.
That's all I wanted to do with this movie.
I think sometimes the simpler the better,
it is a classic rom-com.
I'd like to think that my co-stars
would describe me as hardworking.
This is the first time I've produced a movie,
so that came with a lot more,
a lot more involvement than I traditionally would
if I was just part of the cast.
And I had so much fun, learnt lots.
I'm just so grateful to 42MP for allowing me
to be part of the team with them.
I feel most proud when I'm celebrated
by my friends and my family.
My friends are coming to the screening with me
and we all went for drinks and yeah,
that's how we celebrated.
My favourite film is Kill Bill, since I was a little girl.
That movie inspired me to go and chase my dreams
because I just thought Uma Thurman,
playing that kind of character was just,
as a young girl, watching that was really inspirational
and it made me feel like a badass whenever I watched it.
So if I ever need a bit of motivation, I watch Kill Bill.
Don't really have any guilty pleasures.
My pleasures, I don't have any guilt with them.
I guess people might say chicken nuggets are unhealthy,
but I just love chicken nuggets.
I could have them all day, every day.
To me, self-care means really taking care of my body.
So good sleep, good food, exercising, lots of water.
But then also on the inside to just be kind to myself
and to not feel like I'm in a race,
to just take my time with certain things
and kind of trust the process.
A song that gets me on the dance floor is
anything Whitney Houston, George Michael, Madonna,
anything funky like Nile Rodgers.
I don't have a go-to dance move.
I just move and have fun.
A smile on my face.
My fashion icon, it's plural.
I would say Grace Jones, Imane, Sade.
Just powerful women of color that I really look up to.
And I just think they look so elegant, so amazing.
I love their style.
My best beauty tip is to leave your eyebrows alone.
And as soon as I started doing that,
I felt like my whole face just made some more sense
if it didn't before.
So just leave them alone.
I always love a good moisturizer.
I wear face oil.
I love my L'Oreal lip glosses.
Even if I'm not wearing makeup,
if I put a little bit of lip gloss on,
I always say it's like putting on a pair of hoops.
You just feel like put together.
My party trick is I'm good at doing
like cartoon voices and impressions.
I would, there's so much content out there
of me doing this.
So we're gonna, when I find a new one, we can do one.
The book I always return to is,
there's quite a few.
I'm reading a lot of lyric books at the moment.
Kate Bush, How to Be Invisible.
I guess her lyrics are kind of abstract
and you perceive it as like each to their own,
however you perceive it.
But there's also kind of universal, what she says.
So it's kind of like playing Cluedo,
like what is she meaning and trying to like figure it out.
So when I'm on a plane or I'm traveling or whatever,
I can just flick to a page
and read something really quickly and get inspired.
I feel most beautiful when I'm being kind to myself.
And I would say the same for others.
I think being kind to someone,
you bring the beauty out of them.
So if you can do that for someone else,
you can do it for yourself.
That's a few things you didn't know about me.
Thanks for watching.
Bye.
