Learn to Pronounce FREEZE, FRIEZE, FREES - American English Pronunciation Lesson #learnenglish
Hi everybody, Jennifer from Tarle speech. I have a three for Tuesday. It's a bonus today.
Homophones are words that are pronounced exactly the same way. We have three words as I said today.
Freeze, which means to stop moving or when water turns to a solid when it's cold. Freeze,
a decoration often at the top of a wall. And freeze, to release or to set free. Let's start
with this F-R combination. I always say when you have these R blends, that's two consonants
together at the beginning of a word, think about having your tongue ready for the R before you say
that first sound. So in this case, for my R, the tip of the tongue is pointed down,
back of the tongue is pulled high up. Some people make the R with the tip of the tongue,
but either is fine. Make that R long and strong and do not touch the tip of your tongue to your
teeth. Then for that F, I gently bite the inside of my bottom lip with my teeth. Basically that
means like I kind of touch the teeth to the lip. Some people touch the teeth to the lip on the
outside of the mouth. Either is fine. Keep in mind that you do need to have a little bit
of space there so that the air can keep moving out of that F. Let's give it a try.
And smile for that E and then keep those lips and that smile and let the air move out of the mouth
for that Z sound. Your voice box is on vibrating and moving. Let's give it a try.
And now for a sentence. The man freeze his mind before he looks at the freeze to freeze
out distraction. Let it try. I know people are going to notice the difference.
I hope you enjoyed this. If you did, let me know what you thought in the comments below. You can
also let me know if you really didn't like this lesson at all. That does help me because I do
change my lessons based on all of your feedback. Thank you so much. If you'd like these lessons,

everybody.
