Hello and welcome. I'm Annette Reeder from thebiblicalnutritionist.com and today it's another grocery discovery.
Today I want to share with you what are the healthy fats we need to get into our child's diet
because they're dealing with so much with attention problems, just mindset problems, gut problems,
and we even have kids with bumps behind their arms.
We're going to talk about that today and how to get healthy fats into your child's diet.
Now if you say, Annette, I'm not a child anymore.
Well, everything I'm going to teach you about your child or your grandchild is very beneficial for you as well,
no matter what your age.
So we're going to go inside to Tom Leonard's here in Richmond, Virginia, check out their foods.
We're going to get two of the foods that we need from this store
and then I'm going to need to go to a different store to pick up the other ingredients
to share with you how to make a recipe for tonight's dinner and it's a dessert.
So everyone loves dessert.
So I'm going to teach you what are the healthy fats for brain development and no matter what age
and also how to get them in your diet today.
Videos are all about me sharing with you God's recipe for excellent health.
Three ingredients.
Number one, I'm teaching you all about how to be confident in the kitchen.
Number two, how to be confident in your health.
And number three, understanding and experiencing for yourself how much God loves you.
He loves you with an everlasting love.
He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
No matter what has happened in your life, he has loved you from the moment of conception
and he will love you all the way.
He wants you to believe in him and accept that love.
Now let's go in the store and check out these foods.
Today I'm going to share with you eight different foods that you can use to help your child to be healthier.
We want that brain to develop even from preconception into conception and into the life of the child
and of course us as adults as well.
So we're going to talk about eight foods.
First food is avocados.
Avocados or avocado oil would be number one to get in the diet.
The second food that we need to get in the child's diet would be salmon.
We need wild caught sockeye salmon and that's an excellent choice.
I always suggest having salmon in the diet or a healthy fish in the diet at least once a week.
Eggs are the third food.
They're very nutritious, especially for kids and adults.
They have an ingredient called choline.
Choline helps us with memory.
So having eggs two or three times a week would be very beneficial for your kids.
We want to buy free range and non-GMO seed that has been fed to the chickens.
Another food is going to be beef.
Yes, beef has very good fats for us.
You can read about this in the Treasures of Healthy Living Bible Study
and also Dr. Rex Russell's book, What the Bible Says About Healthy Living.
Both times it talks about how the quality of the fat in beef is very beneficial.
Yet, we want the cattle to be raised on a farm that they are grass-fed.
And if you can get them grass-fed with no being topped off with grain for the last two weeks, that's even better.
Another food besides avocado oil would be your olive oil.
Then we move on to specific oils such as MCT oil, which I'll put a link to this product down below.
It's a really good brand.
Or you can use coconut oil.
Using those in your cooking, adding just a little bit into the child's smoothies or salad dressing,
however you can get that in their diet would be excellent.
You might want to start with just a little bit, maybe a quarter teaspoon of the MCT oil in case they can't tolerate it well.
And we'll talk about that also.
Then moving on, even beans, garbanzo beans, hummus, foods like that, great fat for the child.
And then we have nuts.
So any type of tree nut, pecans, walnuts, almonds, cashews, those would be excellent for in the child's diet.
And then finally, it's seeds.
Flax seeds, hemp seeds, and chia seeds.
Chia seeds, we're going to do a recipe with that right now.
And then flax seeds.
You always want to buy the whole flax seed and then mill it yourself.
And then mill it fresh every day or at least every other day.
That way we get the value of the oils, the lignin oils, which is so good for the brain.
It's good for hormones, and everyone has hormones.
It's not just women who have the most exasperated hormones.
All ages have hormones that are wanting to talk to each other.
So these seeds are excellent for healthy brain, healthy fats.
Let's look at why we need these omega-3s in our diet.
First of all, it supports the retina and brain development, especially in the baby, the fetus.
And as your children are developing, it truly helps with this brain development
through every age that they're going through.
When that happens, when it's helping the brain to develop,
we're going to have less anxiety, less depression, and less bipolar symptoms.
So many children at young ages are starting to deal with this.
We're going to have an increase in focus and better attention.
So if you're saying, are you listening to me?
It might be they need more omega-3s in their diet.
We want to improve their thinking, how they are processing their thoughts.
It helps with cell signaling.
And when cell signaling is doing well, the cells are talking to each other.
There's no misconnect. There's no, you know, miscommunication.
So kids are going to think better. They're going to feel better about themselves.
They're going to pay attention.
For children with math problems, they're going to be able to do those math problems with ease.
And then we come to hair, skin, and nails.
If children are dealing with brittle nails and dry hair and dry skin, that's an omega-3 deficiency.
So realizing that we can help them to feel better about themselves,
to feel better about their work, to be able to do their work better,
this is amazing that we can get this just with the foods that God's given us and omega-3s.
Next is the gut.
So we need healthy fat for nutrients like vitamins A, D, E, and K.
Those vitamins don't get absorbed without a healthy fat in the diet.
Now think about this.
If you have children who are breaking bones all the time, they have a calcium deficiency.
Or adults who have a calcium deficiency.
If you don't have vitamin D in your diet or as a supplement, you're going to have bone issues.
You're going to be more susceptible to COVID and things like that.
But yet vitamin D cannot be absorbed without a healthy omega-3 in the diet.
So it's a compounding effect.
So we need healthy fats for the vitamin D to be absorbed so we can have healthy bones.
It's not just a one-all, hey, I'll just take some calcium, I'll have healthy bones.
No, it's going to go back to do you have vitamin D and do you have omega-3s in your diet.
It's all related.
Nothing is isolated in God's design.
Now I want to show you how we can serve our kids healthy fats in a way that tastes really good.
So we're going to use some of the ingredients we just showed you on the video.
We're going to start with one cup of milk.
I would highly recommend not buying your regular white milk.
I would use a nut milk.
And even better is learn how to make it yourself.
To this we're going to add four tablespoons of chia seeds.
You could use the ground flax seed or you could also use the hemp seed as well.
Now to this I'm going to add a dash of the Ceylon cinnamon.
If you haven't watched that video on why this is the cinnamon that makes the health difference,
I highly recommend you check that out.
And we're going to add one banana.
And I don't know about you, but the bananas I've been buying lately, they really have no flavor.
They're just as bland as can be.
We're going to add two teaspoons, or you could add more if you like, of cocoa powder.
I have an organic cocoa powder.
And then we need a sweetener.
So you could use some stevia or you could use actual honey.
There's nothing wrong with kids having honey in their diet,
especially if you're getting it local, which is what this honey is.
And with the bananas being so flavorless, that might be a good enhancement to this pudding.
So I'm going to be serving this to my grandkids,
so I'm going to go ahead and add just a little bit of a drizzle of honey.
Not too much.
There we go.
And then I'm using my food processor immersion blender.
I just use this tool so often.
I love it.
My banana was a little green, so it doesn't want to blend as well as a really ripe banana.
Okay, I took the lid off, and you can kind of see it's almost like chocolate milk.
But those chia seeds are going to thicken this as it chills in the refrigerator.
So although this is pretty much a one-person serving,
I'm going to turn it into two because it's kind of a lot for a child.
And so we're just going to make this into two servings.
And yeah, my green bananas did not mix up very well.
But to be quite honest, I like chunky pudding.
So I'm fine with this, but you might want to have better bananas that aren't going to be so chunky.
So here is the mix I made last night, and this one I added some strawberries in it.
So you can see it's nice and thickened overnight.
So it's a perfect breakfast meal, a snack, great protein, high protein, good fiber,
and now we're talking about fats.
So the brain of the child, the brain of the adult,
is going to greatly benefit from having these healthy fats in your diet.
This is not going to cause weight gain.
This is going to actually cause your brain to be healthier, and you'll be satisfied sooner.
Well, thank you for letting me share with you, from the grocery store to my kitchen to my home,
these healthy omega-3 fats that we need to get into our children's diet
so they can have healthy brains and less anxiety,
not to mention the immune system gets a boost as well.
So I hope you enjoy these foods.
I hope you can incorporate this into your diet.
Whether you have children, grandchildren, or just for yourself, you will benefit as well.
So thanks for letting me share with you God's recipe for excellent health.
Until next time, remember, God loves you.
