What is slow living to me? It's truly about embracing the slow, simple, everyday moments
of our lives. And that is going to look different for everyone. There isn't this recipe
for slow living. It's more or less welcoming in the idea of slowing down. Taking your time
to do each and everything that you do in your life. Even the not so enjoyable parts of life.
How can we welcome in more slowness? How can we welcome in acceptance?
How can we welcome in more joy? Even for the parts of life that are more challenging.
I'm currently in the phase of raising two little babies and I can't seem to find a time where I
can record an audio without one of those babies being awake as you can hear in the background.
I've accepted that fully and decided to record the audio anyway. And I guess my point in telling
you this is that's a big part of this slow living thing. This enjoying life thing. Do it anyway.
If it feels good. If you really want to do it, do it anyway. Despite the difficulties that
may arise. That will arise because they always do. Slow living is providing yourself with the space
and the time to fully dive into those difficulties and see what you can come up with
to move through them. To move through them in a less stressful way. To maybe even prevent
that same difficulty coming up again. Some things I've been adding into my life as a mama of two
or more or less welcoming back into my life as there was a long period where I wasn't
doing much for myself. One of those things is breathing and moving for any amount of time.
Even if it's just a short yoga flow and stretch. Welcoming in that slowness of breath and movement
has been so key for me. Sometimes I even meditate while nursing my baby or rocking her to sleep.
I just pop a headphone in and turn on a nice little meditation and just fitting it in
whenever I can really makes a difference and helps me to prioritize my well-being because
that is so so important in any phase of life that we are in and a big part of slow living
I truly believe is creating that space no matter what phase of life we are in as I said to
make time for ourselves. Whatever that looks like for you.
For many that may be just stopping where you are in the moment and taking one long deep
inhale and exhale. Maybe it's while you're rocking your baby. Maybe it's as you sit down
to take your first bite of food for the day or that first sip of coffee. The difference it can
truly make as simple as it is is life changing. At least it has been for me. So here's to welcoming
in more slowness especially in motherhood in those early postpartum days. Even when your kids are
grown. Welcoming in more slowness in everything we do especially when it comes to spending time
with the ones we love. In doing everyday daily walks. In looking at the flowers blowing in the
wind. Maybe taking an extra couple moments to pick one of those flowers and give it to your son or
daughter. Welcome them in on this journey to slowness. Not a single one of you will regret it.
I'm sure of it. My love.
