What's up guys, this is Wilwit with PragerU. We are at a California beach right now,
which is closed, so don't tell anyone we're here. But I'm here, I've talked to doctors,
experts, people involved with the coronavirus situation. Here's five things that you should
know. Number one, the predictions were all wrong and they were based off of false data.
It made sense that America wanted to lock down the country, okay? We got data from China,
then we projected that 2.2 million people were going to die, then we saw what happened in Italy,
which was so horrible over there. So it made sense why they wanted to shut it down before.
But after we realized that the data from China was fake and unreliable, and that Italy was a weird
circumstance for what actually happened in their country, we should have reopened the country right
then, or at least ease the restrictions on what we were doing. Two, you get in your car every day
and drive to work. There are earthquakes here in California, but we live here. What I'm saying is
that we have risks that we deal with every single day that we might die. We can't sit around in our
homes forever, waiting for this virus to just magically disappear. We have to take the risk
at a certain point and say, all right, it's time to go to work. Take the risk of going outdoors
and get this country back together. Three, the hospitals are practically empty. Here in Los
Angeles, they really are. People are too scared to go into the hospital because they're scared
of getting coronavirus. For example, people with breast cancer aren't going into the hospital to
get the services they need because they're too scared of getting the virus. Also, people being
at home, we're seeing a huge spike in mental health problems for a lot of people. And one
thing that people always talk about is that we're keeping us locked down because of the children,
but children aren't actually dying from this virus. They did a study with 150,000 people who
had the virus, and only 1.7% of them were between the ages of zero and 18. And of that 1.7%,
none of them died. Four, the economic impact that this is having on our country is astronomically
huge. In Los Angeles alone, 50% of people are out of work. How can you have a city continue to be
alive if you have 50% of the people out of work? Small businesses are getting loans from the
government. But how are these small businesses planning to pay back these loans to the
government if they can't even get their businesses up and running because we're under a quarantine?
So then we're going to see the federal government, because they're spending trillions of dollars,
where our national debt is going to surpass our GDP. If you look throughout history and see what
happens when you have a country with a GDP that is lower than its national debt, it can only lead
to bad things. If we don't start the economy now, don't get the country rolling again, we're going
to have a huge worldwide economic collapse. Number five, how much liberty are you willing
to give up in exchange for a safety that isn't even guaranteed? People right now from the federal
government, they're getting unemployment checks, and they're actually making more money from the
unemployment checks than they were making off of work. And many of them are just going to say,
well, why would I even go back to work? I'm making more money now. People are becoming way too
reliant on the government and have forgotten about personal responsibility in a time where personal
responsibility should be paramount to everything that you're doing. The government is not your
caretaker. The government is not your babysitter. It's time to take some responsibility and get us
all back to work. We all take risks every day, and this is one that we have to take to get this
country going again, get our kids back to school, and get people back to work. Thank you so much
