what is up guys welcome back to another massive free tog Rafi abandoned adventure guys today I am exploring Canada's largest mansion now it's an unfinished mansion it was built by a guy by the name of Peter grant and he never ended up finishing it I will give you all the information that you can handle over voiceover throughout this video I'm not gonna bother rambling off statistics history and information right now we're gonna go inside we are going to explore this entire massive mansion unfinished incredible massive guys so let's quit wasting time cue the music cue the intro see you guys peak employed nearly 600 people in Ontario alone and 715 people across Canada grant forest products operated six mills - in Ontario one in Alberta and two in South Carolina and was North America's third largest maker of oriented strand board a product similar to plywood that is used to build walls Flores and Bruce Peter Grant was listed as the 87th richest person in Canada in the early 2000s this massive success prompted him to build this castle in Northern Ontario in 2005 Peter started work on the mansion which was to be used as an office complex living quarters in a showcase for grant products located in Northern Ontario about a hundred and forty kilometres north North Bay the 65,000 square foot house would sit on the shores of a popular Lake [Music] okay guys so here we go we are here just before sunset beautiful time to be here hopefully there's windows on the other side of the house otherwise I'll be using my lights as you can see it is a lake front property it is so quiet here guys so there's an open door there there's an open door there but I want to go down and do the main floor first so I'm gonna take a walk find a way into the main floor I'll see you guys inside okay guys so I was just up there and I'm now down on the main level and that's where I came down the stairs and right here is the giant door where he would open to put his giant yacht inside okay so here is obviously a break wall to control the waves coming in and he would part his boat right in there so we're gonna go inside this boat garage and that's gonna be our way in so it's dark and it's cold and icy in here so watch our step guys we don't want to slip it's very icy you see down there a lot of water here we go being very careful with my steps here guys this here will be storage and this should get us wherever you want to go yes okay guys still slippery in here it's a bathroom right there what is up guys so here we go guys making our way up these stairs up into the house and I think we're gonna go to the top of the house and work our way down that's what I want to do so yeah I'm gonna take these stairs all the way up so as you can see guys the floors are actually covered concrete floors and they're covered so it's this giant door this goes right outside yeah okay I've got a bunch of black mold in there man this house is big I guess we'll just go this way there no lots of windows can't believe the windows have been shot this is insane it's a nice room Wow check that it that is a nice view okay so tomorrow's gonna be nice when I come back to do pictures because the sun's gonna come up over there so it's gonna be a good time of day to be here for pictures I don't want to waste time now doing pictures and video I just want to do one thing at a time this looks like it's gonna be a it was going to be a giant fireplace definitely a giant gas fireplace here you got the doors all shot out that's the only thing I can imagine but what a cause this is somebody actually shot them that can't be from no that's definitely from being shot that is crazy look at that like the entire panel of glass all three are completely useless now that's actually pretty cooler right there all right and then these doors that go outside are really big really heavy too Wow guys one of you yeah now if you look over there that right there is a pool and it would have a waterfall so the water and the stone structure at the front is definitely a pond that would run water through underneath that bridge over there and do a waterfall into that pool that is beautiful I'm gonna say that a lot today guys back inside let's get this floor done this is gonna be a probably a pretty a pretty long video given how massive this place is what is this oh this would have been a bathroom unfinished and to the left I believe is elevators pretty sure there is elevators not here but there is elevators in this house this is just an unfinished room and same yeah a lot of stuff is unfinished in here that's weird cuz there's a lot that is finished and then lots that's not Oh see what this takes us no no we're everything here just ends yeah you got to go back around the other way [Music] all right let's cross the bridge guys I [Music] wonder if this would have a glass floor to see the water rushing underneath it you see right here guys so this would have been a waterfall rushing into the pool and the water would run all the way around from the front of the property there's like there's a fountain up there that would run down through here [Music] and lose light fast today guys at this point all right here we got a staircase going down so once we finish this floor and whatever's above us maybe we'll take those stairs down let's go over here to what looks like another one of the main doors there's an elevator right there there's a couple of them yeah this will this would have been an elevator yeah so here's one of your main doors this must be the biggest eyesore to the people who live here in this town like what an ugly monstrosity to have on your waterfront we got here oh this is this garage okay it's a pretty damn big garage so the size of this garage doors Wow stairs right there such the stairs we just saw Oh weird I gotta go over here to get to that okay the stairs right there we'll find those in a minute here we go guys another staircase here holy crap look at the stair kicks Jesus 'no suspec Wow [Music] well the [ __ ] drop down to the bottom and then it goes up there this is an amazing staircase guys can you imagine what this would have looked like when it was complete Wow and then we got a smaller one here that goes up and up and up but we're not going up there yet guys we're still on this floor and you've got a balcony up there we'll head up there in a bit [Music] where is that staircase I just saw some more glue blown out glass okay so that heads down but I don't want to go downstairs quite yet I'm fine with that staircase was that's where we came in gotta watch out guys there's nails sticking up here oh here it is right here so this is a small side staircase to go up but I think I want to go up that big main staircase what about you guys I think you'd agree you guys like in this place or what even though it's unfinished definitely the biggest place I've ever been as far as houses go okay here's our main staircase guys get out the big flashlight let's head up let's see what's up here they say we go all the way to the top first I got there's so many rooms this looks like it might okay eze riddim Ryder he was here was heading this day got to sign the board okay guys so my guess is that this is supposed to be somewhat of an attic or storage going by the fact that they've added a door to the top of the stairs coming around over here now we're up on the roof take a look outside Suns still going down so we've got some nice golden light this has your sunsetting sunset tonight is that 8:45 so we still have about an hour of Sun before it's gone I'll somebody put some chairs up there it's a weird place to put chairs you can't get to them there's another elevator and then take a look out this window here then you can see down there where the waterfall would have come from back here this is gonna be just some storage I'm guessing yeah that's nothing it's empty back here elevator all the way down see that people that live over there I feel so bad for them to have this dump messing up their their shoreline more broken glass so guys that wraps it up for this part of the house this is the first very top floor looks like we cannot get out onto the roof unfortunately no I don't see any doors but okay we'll go downstairs I will not waste your time by filming myself walking down the stairs so I'll meet you guys down to one one flight down okay guys just came from up there take a look down the spiral there so let's go to the right which I believe would be a little bit smaller side of the house compared to what is on the other side of us here so man I don't even know where to go loving the light coming in here from the sunset big messenger guys okay I see how this is gonna go here all right so there's another look out that way and this looks to me like it's the construction office judging by the desks and some of the materials on the floor so this is definitely the construction site main hub where all the planning is going on and all that kind of stuff looks like they had bits of marble and countertops that you could pick from or examples of the type of materials that they're using and it's been shattered all over the floor most of it so I wonder what this part of the house would have been because it's like one two three four five really small oddly shaped rooms so I wonder what these would have been okay head on over to the other side of the spiral what's up guys the long arm this is a nice room too bad it's empty the water is so calm out there [Music] okay here's that balcony that we were looking at from down below not sure what purpose this would serve to have a window right there but nothing unless they didn't finish the floor and the floor is actually supposed to go across I don't know much about construction guys I don't know much about anything but it's weird curious to know what that was supposed to be okay guys let's head down to the next floor and we'll go to the other side of the house side of the house you want to get dizzy take a look down this is where we came from guys when we came in the house we were already back there we were already over there that's nothing so this is that giant door that we looked through earlier that went outside this is the stairs we came up when we first got in there's your elevator number two that's just a random room with a black mold in it black mold in there too [Music] okay guys moving along we're now in the basement of the of the house on the other side I actually totally missed this part of the house while I was exploring it and I just actually found it by accident while I was taking pictures so yeah oh I sign here guys this is pretty interesting it's like a mostly this is like a basement entertaining area probably a bar going in back here a lot of water damage back here guys okay interesting what is this so what do we got here guys huh I can't quite put my finger on what these would be I'm sure you guys will be able to tell me but I can't figure it out massive wood beams on the ceiling supporting all this stuff hmm elevator here that takes you down to the the the the boathouse we'll check that out these windows are just amazing this is interesting here you have a chandelier hanging from up there and then in here you've got another kind of space with a with a fireplace there and that which mimics the room right above it you know check it out guys there's a raccoon walking can you see him watch he's walking on the ledge that little guy he's stopping to take a poop or something I can't zoom in so you guys just gonna have to watch really close I think he hears me he's not sure what to do with himself right now he's like can we turn around go back the other way oh here he goes he's coming here he goes [Music] ok do it again hey mister I don't think you're supposed to be here mister this is my house and I don't appreciate you being inside my house mister so maybe you could go home now hey let me help my house back [ __ ] how am I gonna get down I could probably jump ok here we go ok oh how is he doing that yeah my experience exploring this huge mansion was memorable I drove approximately six hours to get to the location arriving about two hours before sunset which is why the video has so many great colors I focused my time on the first day on strictly shooting video exploring and navigating the house on day two I woke up early with the sunrise and returned to the house to capture my photographs and document as much of this mansion as I could you in 2005 Peter grant started work on this mansion which was supposed to be used as an office complex living quarters and a showcase for grant products however a strong downturn in the global economy in 2007 hit grant forest products hard [Music] Peter grant was forced to abandon a construction of the mansion in 2008 as of 2020 it is not clear who exactly owns this property however news articles from June 2018 state that it is owned by a Toronto Area company who also owns another vacant property in the same town [Music] on night 1 after my Explorer was complete I stayed back to capture time-lapse footage of the Sun setting over the house and the night creeping in followed by a photo of the mansion lit by only a nearby street lamp and the bright stars over Lake temas caning okay guys time to
