Jaw-Dropping Tour of Abandoned 1800s Era Jail and Court House

live all right here we go a very special very rare phography live abandoned Explorer of a huge old my nose is all red cuz it's so cold huge old abandoned jail and Courthouse we're here with permission guys I can do a live and not have to worry about getting any getting in any trouble so let's go guys turn the camera around can you see there we go all right here we are abandoned jail and Courthouse dates back to the 1800s guys we're going to go inside and we're going to do a very rare very rare live free tography abandoned Explorer let's go guys greetings Born in the USA what's up guys you can see me there in the in the window in the mirror watch this guys door door is just open guys we're going in going to lock the door behind us though all right here we go guys welcome to one of my very first and only live abandoned explorers not scheduled not edited not planned here we go okay so the reason why I'm here guys is because the person who bought this place well he emailed me and he offered me the chance to come and explore it uh basically for free for the hell of it so here we are we had permission I was in here here I don't think maybe like 2015 or so I snuck in here and uh that's it so now we're here legit so let's go see what's cool what's going on in here so what we have here guys is an abandoned jail dating back to the 1800s as well as an old abandoned Courthouse as well and we're going to okay so here we have I believe this was some kind of a control room area and if you wanted to come in and visit one of your loved ones who was in this prison you'd come in through these doors over here you check in right here okay you guys can see me there what's up guys so you check in here and then they would walk you over and I believe you would let's just see hm I don't know where you'd stand because the prisoners would be in here so here's where you might have a meeting with your lawyer but if you were to have a a chat with one of your loved ones this is where you'd sit as the prisoner you'd be sitting right here and then there's the phones hanging and that's where the the the visitors would come through right there and they would sit there and the Prisoner would sit here and you could touch touch hands hey you know how to do that put your hand there and touch hands all right let's go can you guys hear me okay does everything sound all right I hope my sound is fine I'm probably going to end up losing light because my my my Loom cube light is almost dead so here as a prisoner is where you would do your intake so you've got like an intake cell there and you've got a shower here with a really heavy duty door and then here's where you can sit and get your intake done and then back here is where they would keep all your stuff okay I'm going to bring my light level down a bit and see if I can save some light so let's go see the prison cells guys what do you think of that let's go in real time here we go in cell number one there you go pretty cool right there's your toilet and your sink lots of peeling paint then there's more cells over here something tells me that this might be segregation I'll tell you why in a minute but I might beong wrong but here you go little tiny bed if you're a tall person you're not having a good sleep in here and one more cell hey what's up guys one more cell here and as you go inside you got a guy named hman who signed it in 2011 claiming that he was the last one in the hole so I don't know maybe I'm wrong maybe this is just a legitimate cell but this also might have been considered like the segregation cell the whole as they call it okay then way do you see these ones I've never seen jail cells so small guys watch [Music] this what's up guys all right ready so look at how small this jail cell is here open the door so you've got there's the spot where the legs would be for the end of the bed and then there would be two more there and that's it it's a tiny little cell you literally can only like lay down or sit on the edge of the bed oh those are heavy so that gives you guys an idea here you know what I'll do watch I'm going to show you guys how small they are I'll put my camera down here and then I'm going to stand in the door so you guys can see look at how small it is this is me right here shoulder to shoulder and I'm inside and I can't even put my arms all the way across that's how small it is crazy right crazy oh pretty good Lighting in here they did do hangings in this jail and I'll show you where the hangings took place but here's a quick look here for you all right seven minutes in there's only eight people watching where is everybody all right we're going to go upstairs there's more cells to see upstairs no pausing no music no fancy edits this is just me raw guys just raw dogging it all right more cells there's only two cells here these are a bit bigger but they don't have any beds in them or anything and toilet what's up guys so on this side there's only two cells and they're a bit bigger and then we go back to this side and it's the same as where we just were where the little small tiny little cells see I think there's six of them 1 2 3 four five six yes six little tiny cells okay one more floor to go and then we'll go down and we'll head over to the courtroom side here my big clumpy footsteps here here we go now this one's got eight and they're they're the small cells see they tiny all right there you go sit there and have your lunch a little bit of privacy back here for going to the bathroom right here there you go okay I feel like this might have been better if I did it vertical instead of horizontal but it's too late now and there there's this side now lots of it's pretty cold in here guys I'm sniffling it's freezing in here it's colder in here than it is outside okay so that pretty much covers the jail cells now we got to walk down and over to the courthouse side so uh let's take a little bit of a walk here why don't [Music] we there's the controls there for opening and closing the cells and the lights okay so I think we covered everything we went we went that way so this is where started here and then through this door here is the courtyard but unfortunately all the doors to the Courtyard are locked and in that courtyard is where they had their hangings back in the day when we used to ex excute people here in Canadian jails all right so now to get to the other side we have to go through here back to where we came from here's a look into the courtyard so somewhere in there they would have had the Gallows and they would have done the hangings but there's no way to see because everything's locked so I can't can't get in there guys that's a big bummer okay so this is how you get into the other side through here there's no actual doors to get you in so you have to somebody had to Kool-Aid smash a big hole in the wall there this door here would have went out there but you can't get to it it's all screwed in pretty good there so you can't even get out there guys all right so you go to the right just get a quick look at some of these rooms here there's really nothing to see on this side but the hallway is really nice watch this it's got these really nice arched ceilings hello Carell from Montreal and then there's these little rooms here with these little doors watch this little door little room like that like the jail cells that we were just in all right we're getting to the good stuff guys hang out hang with me we're going to get up to the good stuff where the where the courtroom is nice staircase coming up hello Claire watching from New Hampshire all right then go into this room here is very blue there's a safe back here behind this door big old safe pull it open pull this open here and then pull this open and there's a safe where they would put important things in the safe oh my hands are cold all right let's go upstairs get a look at the hallway here isn't that nice oo okay let's go upstairs okay we made it made it up Madison Wisconsin I don't even know where that is okay so here we have some lovely curtains some peeling paint and get ready what's up guys okay another safe in [Music] here that's about it just that okay here comes the courtroom at the end of the hall you guys are going to like this one I think there you go thanks Cari Carell I mean thanks Carell so here's the courtroom guys isn't this cool look at this look at the ceiling all the peeling paint on the wall and then I'll turn around and you see all the chairs look at that huge arched windows then you got this original like Furnishings from when it was used as a courthouse look at that isn't that nice the light's nice in here too so here I can show you guys into the courtyard where they did the hangings many many many years ago there you go right down there but I can't get down there to show you guys anymore unfortunately nice ceiling hey all right let's take a look from back here from the judge's perspective right from you're the judge sitting in here uh pole of Versatility I'm actually here with permission so I don't have to worry about it the man who bought this place contacted me by email a few weeks ago and he told me that he bought the jail and he asked me if I'd like to come in and explore it take some pictures of it and do a video and uh he'd let me do it for for free so no worries nor have to worry about getting caught or somebody calling the police on me I'm here with permission so don't want to worry about it but that's why you never see me do live videos because yes in fact somebody will do that hey there's a little bathroom in here what's Su Guys somebody will do that that's why I don't do live streams because I don't want to risk somebody Garing me out to the cops so that's why I took this opportunity today to do a live video for you guys because I can and I don't got to worry about it camera work is super shaky though as you can see I'm not using a stabilized camera I'm just using my phone so uh super duper shaky you guys are probably getting dizzy we're almost done we'll just do a little bit of a little more of a walk through here and see if we missed anything oh we'll go up to the up to the tower we'll go up in the attic how about that go up here that's where we're going to go guys way up here all right okay okay we now we're in the Attic oh it's cold guys it's cold go up here even higher hope my lights don't go out on me guys it's going to be dark we can go higher too I'm out of breath though James Kirkwood 1969 before we wrap this up I love this hallway what's in here okay sorry it's so wobbly and shaky guys there's the front door right there show you guys outside just because we can guy riding his bike there so nice [Music] out okay Claire I can tell you um what they're planning to do with this place is turning it into an event space so the guy that bought it he had to get uh permit um what the hell do they call it the uh the zoning permit changed because this location is zoned for institutional and he had to go through the process of getting it zoned for um uh event space and offices and the music venue so what he's going to do is he's going to completely renovate it and restore the the building but because it has Heritage designation he can't actually change a whole lot so what he's going to do is he's going to keep almost all of the original features and he's going to convert it into uh an event space where you can have like like a craft show or any kind of event he'll have weddings here wedding receptions they'll have a music venue where bands can play he's also going to make um office spaces like shared office space for people who have like a very small business or like a startup So the plan for him is to completely first he's got to do the bestest abatement he's got to clean the place up he's going to tear down whatever he can tear down but everything else has to stay original and then like I said it's going to be an event space music venue special events um stuff like that so hope that helps answer your question but now we're back on the other side oh I missed the spot guys the women's jail we're not done yet we were almost done there's a women's prison up here in this building and we have to go this way and go through here and this was part of the women's jail so here we have a shower and two bathrooms two toilet stalls and then what's cool is as a guard that works here you can monitor the inmates through here or down this little hallway here where there's windows and they can look in to make sure that the inmates are behaving themselves so now let's go in and see what it's like to be an inmate so there's no beds so nothing's Left Behind to see like what it looked like at the time but I'm guessing this would have been like not so much a cell but just a area but look at the old uh wallpaper so this used to be the governor's residence or like I guess where like the warden lived or something in this house and it has the original wallpaper behind here that they then replaced with this crappy old stuff here but here you can see the old original wallpaper from when people lived here before it was uh converted to be the women's part of the jail see what else we got back here big clunky foot footsteps here big clumpy clumpy clampy Footprints footsteps another room here nothing to see here but here's another look at original wallpaper that's hidden behind this stuff here say plaster or something but you can see the original wallpaper we're almost done guys I've been here all morning okay what's back here more wallpaper back here and oh some more stuff back here this is where they had storage for the clothing and first aid kits and stuff for CPR for the prisoners here is a bathroom what's up guys and another room back here lots of peeling paint and then back here is an interesting room where you've got these bars here and then you come back here and then there's a a bathroom and a shower stall right there and then again here is another entrance that goes down into the courtyard where they held the hangings back when was where they did executions but we can't get back there because all the doors are locked which is a huge bummer cuz it's pretty cool in there I think we're pretty much done here guys I will be doing this again uh an an actual full video of this place I just wanted to do this for fun because I wanted to do a live video for you guys but I will do this as a whole video where I'll have all kinds of history for you and what this place used to be and when it was built and actual information on what the guy's going to do with it so stay tuned for that we'll take one last look at the jail sales before we go back here no let's go this way so this here is another way to get back into the courtyard but it's locked can't get to it that's pretty cool right okay one last look at the cells okay why not okay there you [Music] go and what's back here looks like this opens I can't to open what's up guys it's not a very nice jail cell is it I mean I don't think many jail cells are very nice but this is really not nice this guy Marshall he did time August 27th to September 7th CF was here May 24th 2011 what else we got on the walls here if you always did what you've always done you'll always get what you always got that's deep guys that's deep so somebody just asked where this is this is the Old Owen Sound jail and I am not here illegally I'm here with permission because the new owner let me come in and check it out so this is the old Owens sound jail I can tell you guys that because it's no longer considered abandoned and here we go back to where we started the old jail
