Hey guys, we are this weekend in Zermatt.
We're going to show you in the winter what to do.
I'm going to ski around.
We're going to go take the Bornegradbahn and other places.
So stay tuned and let's get into it.
We'll see if there are plenty here.
That makes it a very exciting arrival.
Yes, very exciting.
All right. See you guys in a bit.
So I've said this in all videos in Zermatt.
It's pedestrian only, so you can't have cars.
What's really unique about the Zermatt Hotel
is that it's actually a horse-drawn carriage.
So we can show you.
So it's not a car and it's not in the winter car.
It's actually something else.
It's really fun.
And a cute little carriage.
It's a fun way to get picked up.
There you go.
We have our horses and we're going to go there.
So we could get our skis and luggage in there.
And we are headed to the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof.
A great way to start the journey
and the adventure in Zermatt.
Welcome to probably our favorite hotel in Zermatt.
Or maybe in Switzerland.
I don't know.
We have a beautiful little salon area in our suite.
Yeah.
In the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof.
We have the bedroom and a very nice bathroom
with a bathtub.
Yeah, you have a bathtub, shower,
and then for my friends who like products.
Nice products.
Come see the best part of the room.
And there are actually two best parts
because we have two balconies.
But look at the view.
Wow.
I mean, I could just hang out here.
I probably will.
That's what we're going to do, I think.
I'm going to sleep, but you can go and hang out.
So we'll show you clips.
This is actually the Sun Terrace
that's open in the beginning of the day into the afternoon.
So you can have like an apres-ski drink
or like a coffee in the morning.
And then that terrace that's behind Louis right there,
it's actually ours too.
I think he can come say hello.
So if you're in Zermatt and you can make it work,
this hotel is absolutely, absolutely
our top recommendation here.
♪ All of the snow in this winter land used to look so pretty ♪
♪ Now making me moody. ♪
Look at this view.
The church there.
And some more chalets.
You have a nice consistency overall
with the chalets in Zermatt.
Lots of wood and it looks really nice.
There is our bridge.
And the best view is here.
A great view for the Matterhorn from the village
is by the restaurant DuPont.
You have actually a little bit higher up
and you see a lot of these chalets.
So we are in Zermatt.
We're going to take the Sonega train
up to the Sonega station.
It was 11 person round trip with the half fare,
which was very cheap, I feel.
I'm not complaining.
And so let's go check that view from Sonega.
All right, let's go up.
So you have a whole self-service restaurant
and bar at Sonega, which is pretty nice for that view.
You can eat, drink.
And then if you're skiing, you can go down.
Otherwise, you can just take the train down to Zermatt.
A little lunch at the Sonega station
was quite a nice view.
So we are headed to the spa.
Let's check it out.
I can't wait actually to relax in the spa.
Feels like a little cave.
Fondue has arrived.
All cheese from the region.
Yep.
That's interesting.
It's not exactly the moitié-moitié,
but it's another, and it's pretty good.
Love it.
Nice.
So we are waking up for the sunset in Zermatt,
and it's just beautiful on the Matterhorn to see
that orange color.
I am going to go ski,
and Alexis will enjoy the village
and the hotel.
And there are the eggs of Benedict and eggs.
Happy, Alexis?
With a view of the Matterhorn twice here,
but the real one is here.
And you can actually even see the Matterhorn from here.
Ready to go ski.
I'm very excited.
And look at this view behind me.
So I have chosen a one-day pass in Zermatt.
It was 86 francs.
You can also do the Italian border also
and go the whole thing, and it's 99 francs,
but I'm going to stay around here.
You can also do a half day,
but this is only starting at 12, actually.
So as I was very ready early,
I'm going to get the full day,
and I'll see what I can see
for the half day I'm going to ski.
So let's go, and let's show you some Zermatt slopes.
So taking the second lift to Laupoort
in the direction of Rotterdam.
So we are on the top of the Rotterdam now,
3,100.
We see the Gornergrat there,
the Matterhorn, of course.
I can actually feel the altitude.
We're going to, I'm going to ski down.
So guys, this is absolutely perfect.
You have actually great snow.
You have the Matterhorn there.
Great snow, nobody, and the sun,
which usually you don't have this combination,
but today it's just the stars are aligned,
so I'm having such a blast.
It's beautiful, this Zermatt ski resort.
Good, so this is piste slope number 11.
I'm happy, guys.
So it's a fun combination here
between gondolas and ski lifts.
So we are going on the direction of the Gornergrat now.
All right, so skiing down towards the Gornergrat,
so you can see the train over there,
you can see the Gornergrat fort,
and, of course, the Matterhorn.
So the benefit of not skiing in a ski resort
is that I'm here really, really 100% alone,
which I'm very not complaining about.
There's a hot tub, there's a pool, there's saunas,
so we're going to have a good day.
So we are already at almost 3,000 meters,
and we're going to take the last gondola
to go to Glacier Paradise.
It's pretty cool, you can actually see
a much different angle of the Matterhorn from here.
So, guys, we are at 3,800 meters.
I can feel that there's less oxygen here.
Let's go see.
We are at, wow, just wow.
We are at 3,800 meters, even more, I think.
And it's just, wow, look at this.
Oh, amazing.
Let's go up slowly because there's really
not a lot of oxygen here.
So here is the amazing view from Glacier Paradise.
It's just mountains.
This is Switzerland, and this is the Matterhorn.
And over there, we have Italy.
All right, we're going to ski down now, all the way down.
We're all going to go see.
So from the end of the slopes, you
have taxis that take you back to Zermatt, which
is more comfortable than walking with snowshoes.
You have also a bus, I think.
But for today, I'll just indulge myself
with a little bit of a luxury to the Zermatterhorn.
Going to try to get some nice views on Zermatt
in the evening.
It's huge, actually.
And we can see a little bit over there, the Matterhorn.
Let's go see if we can go a bit further
and have an even better view.
All right, you guys.
I'm not going to go any further, but I'm
going to show you the view you can
have while hiking a little bit.
Yep.
All right, guys.
So right across from the train station behind me,
you can see the Gornergratbahn.
So we went to Sonnegrät to ski.
This is another place that you can ski in the winter.
And if you're here in the summer, you can hike.
If you're here in the fall, you can still hike a little bit.
It's still snowy.
I'm going to show you what it looks
like because we're going to head up there and show you
some footage.
It can definitely be on the pricier side.
But if you're here one time and you really
want to have an experience, Gornergrat is really cool.
And it's amazing if you're here in the summer, too.
So stay tuned.
We're going to show you some footage on the Gornergratbahn.
With the snow, we actually have a frozen lake.
So usually, there's a very nice reflection
of the Riefelsee on the Matterhorn or the Matterhorn
on the Riefelsee.
But we'll show you pictures of what it looks like, usually.
So we can see the Matterhorn, beautiful.
It's 4,478 meters.
So it's only actually the 10th highest peak in Switzerland.
And the highest is actually visible from the Gornergrat.
It is the Dufour, Dufour-Spitze.
And it is that range over there.
It is 4,600 and something meters.
So you can see that Mont Paro is Mount Dufour.
And you actually have a 360 panoramic view.
Enjoying one last little moment with our friend,
the Matterhorn on the sun terrace of the Zermatterhof
before we depart.
Cheers.
All right, let's get in and take our train.
