many years ago in day there lived a
hardworking man named Adiwali He was
well known for his determination and
perseverance From a young age he
understood that success required hard
work and
consistency When he became a man he
married a woman named Shadi hoping to
build a prosperous future with her Shadi
was beautiful with a graceful walk and a
captivating smile But what Adiali did
not realize was that she had no interest
in hard work or
responsibilities Eager to secure a good
life for his family Adi started a
provision store He stocked the shop with
essential goods rice beans curry canned
foods and household supplies He
entrusted the daily operations to Shade
since she was doing nothing but sitting
at home believing she would run it
efficiently
However Shadi was not interested in
managing the store She would wake up
late leave customers waiting and
sometimes short to shop just because she
felt like sleeping When Adi questioned
her she always had an excuse Either she
was too tired feeling sick or claiming
that business was slow Meanwhile she was
just lazing around with her phone As
time went on the shop began to fail the
goods finished and instead of
reinvesting the profits Shadi spent the
money on data expensive fabrics
unnecessary outings and lavish meals for
herself When Adali discovered that the
store was empty he was heartbroken His
hard earned money was ruined and all
because Shadi was too lazy to do the
work required But Adali was not the type
to give up With the little money he had
left he decided to start a bull jay farm
Since this particular business doesn't
require staying around all day and so
she will have time to sleep and operate
her food he built a well structured pen
and brought a good number of chickens He
explained to Shadi how easy it was to
take care of them feeding them twice a
day giving them water and keeping the
pen clean Once again he trusted her to
manage the business while he focused on
his job Unfortunately Shadi did not
change She neglected the chickens
sometimes forgetting to feed them for an
entire day She was too lazy even sweep
and to keep the place tidy So the pen
remained dirty attracting diseases When
the chickens began to die one after the
other Adi investigated to see what was
wrong He discovered that many had
starved or fallen sick due to the filthy
environment Within weeks the entire
poultry farm
collapsed Despite these failures Adi
remained optimistic He was determined to
set up his wife He doesn't believe in a
full-time housewife He decided to
venture into another business selling
fabrics He traveled to Lagos to purchase
highquality anara and lease materials
bringing them back to Jabu to sell This
time he was careful He was intentional
about this particular business and made
sure everything was well managed However
he traveled for a 3 weeks company
training and as he returned the business
had once again fallen apart Shi had
given out most of the fabrics on credit
to her friends who never paid back She
had also taken some for herself without
accounting for them The money Adiwali
had worked so hard to invest was gone
again That was when he realized that no
matter how many opportunities he created
Shadi would always find a way to ruin
them Do we still have women like this
you have such a loving husband who is
ready to open businesses for you and yet
you are wasting away the money Anyway
feeling defeated he stopped trying to
establish Shade in any business He saved
his money quietly and refused to tell
Shade anything about his finances With
patience and careful planning he was
able to buy land and build a house By
then the people of Ajabu they had
noticed Shadi's lazy laziness Many women
in the town whispered about how she had
wasted her husband's money so many
chances to be successful Some even used
her as an example to warn their
daughters about the dangers of laziness
and
irresponsibility As the years passed
Adwani's patience vanished into thin air
He had done everything possible to make
his marriage work But Shadi refused to
change She had spent her days sleeping
gossiping and complained about the
things she never put any effort into
improving Whenever he tried to talk to
her she would either ignore him or claim
he was being too
harsh One evening after a long day at
work Adal returned home to find the
house in complete disarray Defty plates
were piled high up in the kitchen The
sitting room was untidy Ashe she was
lying on the couch carelessly scrolling
through her phone Frustration boiled
inside him He had enjoyed so much hoping
that one day she would wake up and
realize the damage she was causing But
it never
happened That night he made a decision
He had sacrificed enough and he was
tired of carrying the weight of the
family alone while Shade did nothing but
drag him
backwards The next morning Adwali left
for work without saying a word He did
not respond to Shadi's casual greeting
nor did he acknowledge her lazy stretch
as she remained on the bed At work his
mind was troubled He had built a life
with Shadei Yet he felt like he had been
living all alone these years
That weekend he called the family
meeting He invited his elder brother his
uncle and a few elders from Shadi's side
When everyone was gathered Adwalu spoke
with a heavy heart He listed every
business that Shadi had ruined Every
chance she has wasted and every
sacrifice he had made He explained that
he was exhausted and he could no longer
continue in a marriage where he was the
only one making an effort
Shal's family tried to plead on her
behalf promising promising that she
would change but Adiwali was unmoved He
had the same promises many times before
He had seen her pretend to be remorseful
only to return to her careless ways
after a few days The meeting ended with
no real solution Adal was still
undecided but he knew one thing He could
not continue living the way he had been
The weight of disappointment and
frustration was becoming
unbearable Something had to change and
it had to change
soon Shades sat alone after the family
meeting Her mind racing with thoughts
the whispers in town the disappointment
in her husband's eyes and the shame of
being called lazy all weighed down
heavily on her For the first time she
saw the future ahead of her one without
a support without the comfort she had
always taken for granted And the
realization terrified her Determined to
prove everyone wrong she woke up early
the next morning surprising one day by
preparing breakfast before he left for
work She tidied up the house washed his
clothes and even visited the market to
buy fresh ingredients for dinner She
imagined that they returning home and
praising her efforts Maybe just maybe
this will be enough to change his
mind But by midday exhaustion had set in
The dishes from breakfast still needed
to be put away and the pile of laundry
she had started now felt overwhelming
She glanced at the neatly arranged room
and sighed sinking into the couch and
muttering "Tomorrow I will do better."
The following days were a battle Some
mornings she managed to wake up early
But by afternoon the energy has faded
and she has slipped right back into her
old habits She told herself that small
efforts were enough and that a diwali
should at least see that she was trying
But deep down she knew it wasn't enough
Change required consistency and she had
never stayed committed to anything that
required real effort
One evening Adi returned home to find
the house in the same state he had
always known Untidy dishes piled up and
Shadi
sprouch absent mindedly watching a
Yoruba movie on her phone His eyes
darkened with disappointment but he said
nothing He had already accepted that she
would never
change Shi noticed the silence the way
he barely looked at her anymore Fear
gripped her but the weight of laziness
was stronger Even when she told herself
that she had to try harder the habit of
comfort and ease always wor She had
spent years avoiding hard work And now
even with everything at stake she could
not push herself beyond a few fleeting
moments of effort Adi on his part
withdrew more and more He barely spoke
to her and the warmth that once existed
between them faded into cold
indifference And yet even as she sensed
the distance growing she could not break
free from the hold of laziness that had
defined her life for so long How come
she could not break free it puzzles me
One evening after another long day of
work Adi sat in the sitting room
watching Shade do what she did best
absolutely nothing She was called up on
their bed phone in hand scrolling
through gossip blogs Plates from
breakfast and lunch still sat untouched
in the sink and a pile of unfolded
clothes lay in the corner of the
room Adi sighed deeply and shook his
head He had tried talking He had tried
begging He had even tried ignoring her
But nothing
worked Then an idea struck him If
Shade's biggest problem was the comfort
of their matrimonial bed then he will
take that comfort away That night while
Shade snorred blissfully Adali quietly
got up grabbed one end of the mattress
and began dragging it towards the spare
room Shade still half asleep stared
slightly but didn't wake up It wasn't
until Adi reached the doorway and her
head bounced against the hard floor that
she finally sat
up Adi what are you doing she shouted
rubbing her head I'm relocating your
office but I'm lazy he said still
pulling the mattress Sh blinked in
disbelief My office which office the
place where you spend all day doing
nothing eating and scrolling on your
phone That's your office and it's time
to move it somewhere else Shy watched in
in horror as Adwi dumped the mattress in
the tiny stuffy storage room beside the
kitchen You can't be serious How can I
sleep here there's no fan no space and
the kitchen smell will enter my nose she
protested her eyes wide Adi dusted his
hands Exactly Maybe if you stop sleeping
all day you won't notice Shade stomped
her foot but Adali ignored her and
walked back to their bedroom locking the
door behind him The next morning Shadi
woke up feeling sore Sleeping on a thin
mattress in a cramped room was nothing
like the luxury she had been used to She
stretched and groaned as her back achd
But as she reached for her phone she
realized something else Her charger was
missing
Adi," she screamed stoming out of the
room "Where is my
charger?" Adiwali calmly sipped his tea
I kept it somewhere safe If you want it
go and sweep the compound first Shad's
jaw dropped What kind of wickedness is
this oh it's not wickedness my dear wife
It's called motivation
Shade huffed and puffed but knowing that
her phone was on lifeline she grudgingly
picked up a broom and began sweeping It
was the first time in years that she had
done any household chores without being
bked Satisfied with the progress Adali
decided to push her further The next day
he hid all her expensive wrappers and
handbags "If you want them back wash the
dirty clothes," he told her with a smack
Shade groed Aha Dei you have turned into
a tyrant's knee Even Aguero doesn't
behave like this But with no choice she
reluctantly did the laundry grumbling
the entire time For the next few days
Adi continued his operation He refused
to give her food unless she cooked it
herself He turned up the TV whenever he
saw her watching movies instead of doing
house chores One time he even switched
up the Wi-Fi and Shadi fainted from the
shock Dei you have to stop this This is
oppression she wailed Call it whatever
you like but at least now you know where
the groom is For a while it seemed like
his plan was working Shadi was waking up
earlier The house looked cleaner and she
even made an attempt to cook instead of
ordering food everyday But the question
remained would this change last or would
her listeners find a way to
return one morning just as Aniwal
thought his plan was working he heard
soft snoring coming from the sitting
room He peaked in and found Shade
sprawled out on the couch fast asleep
with a halfeaten loaf of bread resting
on her stomach Adi sighed I knew it Your
laziness is imborn Determined not to let
her slide he clapped his hands loudly
Oya wake up madam I want to eat a for
She groaned barely opening her eyes Adi
just five more minutes No minutes If you
don't get up now I'll pour water on you
She knew Adiwali well enough to know
that he wasn't bluffing She dragged
herself off the couch dragging her feet
as if she had just climbed a mountain
Why don't we order this a for real roll
you know I don't like stress That's the
problem Shi you don't like stress But
stress is part of life Now get dressed
With great reluctance she changed into a
boo boo yawning every 2 minutes When she
got into the market the noise the crowd
and the smell of fresh fish immediately
overwhelmed her After an exhausting few
hours she finally returned home could
last into a chair like she had just
completed a
marathon Welcome home my darling Please
I am famished Shade nodded weakly wiping
the sweat from her forehead I hear you
but can I at least have a little rest or
maybe we hire
a shook his head laughing in disbelief
Ah Shi Shade laziness is in your
blood He finally assisted her in the
kitchen before he was able to eat by
8:00
p.m One fateful day when he returned
from work at exactly 11:00 a.m his face
was unusually serious Shi became
concerned My hardworking husband this is
quite unusual Is everything all right
but they stood there for a moment his
mind heavy I have been officially laid
off from my job he declared his voice
low The company laid me off We are
finished and you don't have any business
that will keep sustaining us till I get
another job Shade froze her phone
slipping from her hand She stared at him
in disbelief What do you mean you've
been sacked she asked You've always been
the one bringing in money How are we
going to survive now adi side sitting
down next to her I don't know yet but we
have to face reality We've been living
beyond our means and now we don't have a
steady income We need to be more careful
Shad's mind raced Her comfortable
lifestyle now hanging by thread She felt
the weight of their situation As the
days passed it became clear that they
were in trouble The bills kept piling up
and her dewari couldn't find another job
so quickly
They had no choice but to start selling
things It began with the small things on
used appliances some of Shad's excess
clothing and a few old furniture pieces
they had once spludged on But soon they
were selling bigger things Shadi's
beloved designer handbags the TV and
even the microwave she had always
adored Every sale was a blow to Shad's
pride These weren't just possessions
They were symbols of the comfort and the
luxury that she had taken for granted
But with each item they sold she could
see the reality of their situation more
clearly The laziness that had once ruled
her life was no longer an
option One day as they sold their last
piece of furniture a beautiful carved
wooden table that Shi had always
cherished she realized just how deep in
trouble they were She sat on the floor
staring at the empty living room Adiwali
I don't want to live like this anymore I
can't just sit around waiting for things
to get better I have to do something
Adiwali who had been quietly observing
her nodded It's about time you realized
that Shade But the truth is we don't
have a choice If we don't work together
we'll lose everything
Shadi looked at him Determination slowly
replacing the hopelessness in her
eyes Okay Adiwali I'm in I'll work I
will stop being lazy but I need your
help Adali smiled for the first time in
days We will do it together Shade We're
a team From that day on Shade took
responsibility in ways she had never
taken it before She learned how to
budget how to cook more affordably and
how to stretch every naira She started a
small business of buying and selling and
all these small catering jobs since she
can now cook Though she struggled at
first but she kept going driven by the
harsh reality that her old ways would no
longer work The struggle was long and
there were days when she wanted to give
up But the thought of losing everything
and sinking into a life of poverty
pushed her forward Slowly they started
to recover a day while they found some
freelance work and Shad's side business
began to pick up It wasn't easy but the
hardship they faced brought them closer
than ever The luxury they had once known
seemed so far away now but it didn't
matter They had each other and that was
enough to keep going They both began to
settle into their new routine though it
was far from
easy One evening after a long day of
working Adali came home to find Shadi
sitting on the dining table surrounded
by a pile of receipts a calculator and a
notebook She was looking more serious
than he had ever seen her "I've been
thinking," she began looking off from
the notes "We need to make a plan This
isn't just about surviving We need to
build something longterm If we don't
start thinking about the future we'll be
stuck in this cycle forever Adal leaned
against the door frame surprised by the
intensity in her voice What do you mean
i mean we're working hard now but we
have no savings If another emergency
happens we'll be right back where we
started We need to save a portion of
everything we earn no matter how small
And we need to find a way to grow our
money
Adiali was really impressed That's a
good idea Shi I never thought about it
that way For the next few weeks they
began setting small goals and they set
aside a small percentage of their
earnings into a savings jar They both
started to realize that it wasn't just
about earning money but managing it
wisely Every week they sat down together
to review their progress
But the most significant change wasn't
just financial It was the shift in his
wife's mindset Shade once a woman who
couldn't imagine lifting a finger was
now actively involved in every aspect of
their survival She even began looking
for new ways to grow their income
helping Adiwali market his skills online
and reaching out to local businesses who
might need help with small projects
One day as Adiwali returned from another
successful job he found Shades smiling
holding a letter in her hand "Look at
this atali," she explained "I have been
asked to cater for a small event next
weekend They love the food I made for
the neighbor's party." Adiwali beamed
"That's fantastic," Shadi "See you're
doing it You're really making this
work." Shi grinned proud of herself "I
guess I am." See how commission has
turned the lazy woman into a business
woman had
tears Even though their journey wasn't
easy it had taught them both something
profound They had learned the true
meaning of hard work of sacrifice and of
teamwork And most importantly they had
learned that laziness wasn't just a
habit but it was a choice And as they
looked towards the future they knew that
whatever life threw their way they would
face it together stronger than
ever Months passed and things were
finally beginning to look better for
Adiwali and Shade They had worked hard
made sacrifices and were slowly
rebuilding their lives Their business
ventures were growing and their savings
were starting to accumulate
But as Adi stood one morning looking at
the successful woman Shahi had become he
felt something shift inside him He had
to come clean Adali waited for the
perfect moment when they were sitting
together in the small living room A rare
moment of calm in the midst of their
busy lives Shadi was sorting through
some receipts when Adeali looked at her
and said "Shade there's something I need
to tell you." She stopped all she was
doing her face filled with concern "What
is it that the one?" she asked her voice
soft "Dally took a deep breath his gaze
blossing with
hers." "I wasn't sacked," Shabi "I
lied." "She couldn't believe her ears."
"What do you mean you lied?" "You were
not sacked how do we How did we end up
like this?" she asked confusion and hurt
flashing across her face
Adiani smiled softly I wasn't fired Shi
the truth is I took my annual leave so
early so that we can work on your
laziness Since I have tried everything
and nothing worked I knew that tampering
with your comfort will kill that demon
of laziness And I am so proud that it
did So my dear wife I am not sorry that
I
lied Shi could feel her heart swell with
guilt For so long she had been lazy
selfish and unappreciative of his
sacrifices She had expected him to do
everything while she lived a life of
comfort and
indulgence With tears in her eyes she
reached out and held Adiwali's hand I am
so sorry Adi I have been such a terrible
wife I didn't see how hard you were
working I didn't understand what you
were going through I was selfish lazy
and I took it for granted Now I
understand that money is hard to come by
I genuinely squeezed her hand His voice
is warm but firm Shi I should have
communicated better But the truth is
you've changed I've seen you grow in
ways I never thought possible You're not
the same person who just wanted to lie
around and do nothing You've stepped up
in a way that I'm truly proud of Shades
tears flowed freely now But this time
they were tears of gratitude I promise
you at Diwali I will never go back to
being that lazy woman I understand now
that life isn't about waiting for
someone to do things for you It's about
contributing sharing the load and being
there for each other through tick and
thin I will work hard for us for our
future I won't be lazy again Adi smiled
and put pulled her into a hug I know Shi
I know We've both learned a lot and I am
proud of you As they embraced Shi
realized that she had learned one of the
most important lessons of her life But
laziness is not a luxury but a choice
and a dangerous one at that Laziness
wasn't just a habit It was a mindset
that could steal the joy of life the
sense of accomplishment and the
happiness that comes from building
something meaningful She was ready to
work ready to face each new challenge
and most importantly ready to be the
kind of wife that I deserved They got
all the things that they sold back and
her husband opened a massive fabric shop
for her which she appreciated and there
was no cause for alarm as far as the
business was concerned because shade had
changed for good Our elders say even the
chicken was scratched the ground before
finding food which means that you must
put in effort to achieve anything in
life Thank you so much for watching and
thank God that the laziness in Shadi was
finally destroyed and they lived happily
ever after If you enjoyed this video
