Apparently, there's a machine that can
scan and cut things, which sounds like a
glorified office printer with commitment
issues, but people are weirdly obsessed
with it. Here's the thing. I haven't
even touched it yet, but somehow I'm
already emotionally involved. Welcome to
the craft tool rabbit hole that I didn't
even ask for. Nothing screams fun like a
machine named after a distant relative.
I was ready to roll my eyes. But here's
the thing. I'm five tutorials deep and
I'm already planning my fake Etsy shop
using my brother's Canon
cut. Y'all, it's been a minute. We have
a lot to talk about. You have sent me
down a rabbit hole and I literally
cannot believe we ended up here. This is
the plot twist of literally all plot
twist. Guys, the brothers scan and cut.
Really? It's not been one comment. It's
not been two. It's been probably over a
hundred comments after I said that I was
go try out some other machines. And here
is the funniest part of this whole
story. I remember when the Scan and Cut
came out like a decade ago. And this die
cutting machine, I don't want to say was
a joke because I know a lot of you love
this machine obviously, but it was made
for people doing paper crafts and people
stamping and y'all know that is my
heritage. I'm a stamper true and true.
So when I started reading these comments
and realizing that the scanning cuts
back like back back like I had to start
messaging my friends from from events
that I used to attend in like 2011 being
like hey can you tell me about this
machine because like everyone's obsessed
with it. I have literally been in a
rabbit hole. My team's been in a rabbit
hole. There's a lot to talk about today
and we're going to do a deep dive on the
Brother Scan and Cut because I had no
idea it was still
relevant. Netty D says, "I went with the
Brother Scan and Cut a year ago. I have
no regrets. It's a superior machine and
would love to see y'all do some videos
on it." Well, honey, buckle up cuz it's
just beginning. Um, again, Julia says,
"I would love to see some teaching on
the Brother Scan and Cut. No more fuzzy
cutting stamps while making the most of
scraps with the scan feature. Sign me
up, y'all. I'm telling you, you're
obsessed with this
machine. Yes, please explore Brother
Scan and Cut. Please and thanks. Well,
here I am. Um, but it's just so shocking
to me that so many of you, not just a
few, like a lot of you are intrigued
about this brother skin and cut and it
sounds like you already have them, which
is just unbelievable to me. Um, there's
just so many. I am obsessed. Catlover
9023 says, "Brother Scan and Cut, buddy,
I don't understand why there isn't more
on it. Sorry, but workspace was so much
easier to learn for me and has helped me
figure out design space. Only one thing
I found Cricut can do that Brothers Scan
and Cut can't is engraving. Y'all, that
is a statement of all statements. This
is so intriguing. So, here's the deal. I
started reading all of these comments
because the thing about me is when I
post a video, I literally spend the next
48 hours reading all the comments. I
don't respond to every comment, but I
respond to a lot. And the one thing
people were saying, "Oh my gosh, Tanner,
are you breaking up with Cricut?" The
answer is no. I'm not breaking up with
Cricut. I love Cricut. I am the first
person in line to be like, "I'm a Cricut
fan." We're not stopping using our
Cricut machine. So, for all those
comments, take a breath. We've still
been using our Cricut. We love our
Cricut. I probably own 50 Cricut
machines. We love them. But I do want to
explore what other machines people are
using. And this has been such a
fascinating couple of weeks learning
about all the different machines,
whether it's a laser, whether it's
another doceting machine. But this
Brother Scan and Cut left me asking so
many questions. So if you're here and
you're also like, what the heck even is
a Brother Scan and Cut? Today, I want to
explore it because on this video, I
think I'm going to actually order one.
And I am really intrigued to see there's
quite a bit of different variety of
Brother Scan and Cuts. They have some
different letters after them. I don't
know. There's a lot to talk about when
it comes to the Brother Scan and Cut.
And I just want to kind of explore it.
And I really want you guys to pop off in
the comments. If you are a Brother Scan
and Cut lover, tell me why. Tell me the
things you make with it because I swear
I thought this was just for like the
sewing community and like the paper
crafting community, but it seems that
this Brother Scan and Cut has like
popped off in general crafting and you
guys are obsessed with it. So, I'm
really excited to explore and see what
this fuss is all
about. After doing some research, here's
what we know. Number one, the builtin
scanner. You can literally draw
something and it will cut it out. This
includes items that you've been able to
draw, items you've been able to stamp,
things that you can scan in at 600 DPI,
which for those have no idea what that
means, it's super super high quality.
Okay, this next one I need y'all to pop
off if you like this feature or not, but
it auto detects the material thickness.
No more having to tell Cricut what to
do. The Brother Scan and Cut is going to
decide for itself what it works for
materials 3 mm in thickness. So, it
works with foam, felt, all sorts of
different materials that work inside of
the Brothers Scan and Cut. Like the
comment said, it's been able to do
everything but engraving. Here's the
thing for you non- techsavvy friends out
there. No computer required. You can
literally do everything right there on
the built-in screen. So, those of you
with bad internet connections, people
that don't love softwares, people that
are not into using the computer, this
one might be for you. It has a ton of
built-in designs. Think basic shapes had
a huge advancement. 1,300 built-in
images ready to go at your own leisure
with the built-in software computing on
the device without even having to touch
your very own computer, which is kind of
a gamecher and awesome in and of itself.
It has precision cutting and SVG
support. So any cut file from
makerscalarn.com that you've bought off
Etsy or anything in between, you'll be
able to upload it through their software
and use it to cut on the machine as
well. Calling all quilters, it is
perfect for you. It has a seam allowance
setting. It's able to actually purchase
a additional rotary blade. So just like
with the Cricut Maker who has a rotary
blade, you'll be able to cut fabrics and
materials. And I love love love the seam
allowance ability for all the quilters
out there that want to use this machine.
Okay, when it comes to our favorite
features, hands down, the scan to cut
feature is the reason why 90% of people
are obsessed with this machine. Being
able to take things that you've been
able to draw, stamp, um, create, and
have it automatically draw out, and cut
is incredible with that built-in
scanner. I think people are also loving
this feature to make sure all their
scraps are completely utilized without
any guesswork. We know how to use scraps
with our Cricut, but here's the thing,
it requires all of us to do some
additional work. One thing about this
machine is that it can scan it in and
you can use all your scraps with ease
without having to measure twice and cut
once. I love that feature. Now, the
second one that I think people have been
really impressed with are the builtin
image support. That library started
coming up over and over again for people
that just want to have built-in items
that they're able to stay in their
creative flow without having to break
that and dive into their computer.
Because let's face it, when you're
having to use your iPad, your phone,
your computer, you're going to get
sidetracked, right? You're go get on
Facebook, you're go see text messages
pop up. People seem to really like this,
so they can stay in that creative flow
in their craft space, head down, having
fun. And I'm really excited to explore
and see which one's right for
me. All right, my friends, here's the
real question. Why would a Cricut user
actually want to consider grabbing a
Brother Scann and Cut? Let's go over it.
Number one, you want to be able to take
things like your hand drawings or your
stamps or anything in between. And you
want to easily be able to scan it and
cut it without having to use any
software, without having to convert it,
without having to feel like you're a
tech guru making the process come
together. The Brother Scan and Cut might
be for you. Number two, you may be
obsessed with working with fabric.
Whether you consider yourself a beginner
seist or someone that would say, "I'm an
advanced quilter," this machine has some
really intense features that I think are
lacking from the Cricut product that I
think you may be really impressed with
for your creations. Maybe you're ready
to throw your computer out the door and
you're wondering what machine could be
standalone, giving you the flexibility
of having an electronic die cutting
machine without the necessity of having
a computer, iPad, or phone. The Brother
Scan and Cut quite possibly could be the
best standalone electronic die cutting
machine. I think there's a big market of
people that understand electronic die
cutting machines are the way to go when
it comes to space, budgets, things like
that compared to having to buy all the
manual dyes or continually having to
fuzzy cut around your items. Here's the
thing. The Brother Scan and Cut might
possibly be the best machine for you.
Here's what I love about the Brother
Scan and Cut. You can still use all the
cut files from Makers Going to Learn or
your other providers. I'm not saying
that the Brother Scan and Cut can truly
eliminate the computer. What I'm saying
is it gives you flexibility for where
you're at and it can help you create
really well with or without the
computer. I really do believe to get the
most out of the machine, you will have
to use a computer. you will have to use
SVG files. That is just the beauty of
this market. SVG files are the lowest
cost, highest reward. And the way to
activate those, the way to utilize
those, as we have for years in this
entire industry, is having a computer.
And I haven't dove into the software
yet. I am a very tough critic when it
comes to diecut machines and their
software. One of the biggest objections
that I have for new machines on the
market is that the software just isn't
up to par. And it's not up to par for me
to teach on and allow space here on our
channel. Brother is a multi probably
billion dollar company. So surely to
goodness I'm about to order one and play
with the software myself, but you can
sit with ease knowing that I hold a very
high standard when it comes to software.
And I believe that no matter having the
best machine on the market or the worst
machine on the market, you will really
be able to see the truth of the machine
based on how well the software
functions. So I believe to have a really
good machine, it has to have good
hardware, but it has to have even better
software so that the user can actually
create what they're looking for with
ease, without pulling out their out
their hair, without frustration. And I'm
very intrigued to see what happens with
the Brother Scan and Cut. So, who wants
to come shopping with me and see which
one's right for
me? All right, y'all. We're heading to
Amazon and I'm going to search for the
Brother Scan and Cut. I've been so
intrigued to film this video because
there are so many different cricket or
different scan and cuts. I Yeah, I even
call them crickets cuz I'm so used to
it. This is so funny for me. Imagine
dating the same person for so long and
then accidentally calling the new person
you're dating the old
person. That would be hilarious and
awful. But seriously, here we are on
Amazon with the different scan and cuts.
Okay, the first one up
$3.99 Scan and Cut
SDX125E. Like, come on. Who's going to
remember that? It's like asking about a
printer. They're like, "What printer do
you have with all those numbers?"
Brother, you can do better. Next is the
Scan and Cut
SDX
85s. It is like half the price.
What? Okay, y'all. Have you seen the
Disney one? Calling all Disney fanatics.
If you want to legally be able to use
Disney files, the Disney Scan and Cut
may be for you. I love Disney. I don't
love it that much, though. There's so
many, guys. is a Okay, here's the deal.
When it's overwhelming like this and
there's so many different machines, why
is this one $700?
$749. This is the
DXSDX325, guys. Brother, like, do you
all not know like what level we're on?
That's what I'm saying. Like, some of
these machines are just a hoot and a
half. Okay, I really really think that
for me the one that I've been eyeing is
this like SD
X125E. Um, it has a little bit of
everything for me. Um, and that's what I
really really enjoy like like. So, what
I'm going to do when you're shopping on
Amazon, you have to be really careful
about who you're ordering from. So, I'm
thinking this one's like directly from
Brothers. So, I'm probably going to take
a look at that. But then they've got
these
bundles. Looks like this is also from
Brother. They're talking about making
stickers, y'all. I don't know if Brother
could compete with Cricut on making
stickers. We may have to have a sticker
off, y'all. We may have to have a
sticker off. This will be good. Okay,
this one's from the Brother store. And I
want to see if the other one's from the
Brother store, too. Okay, they're the
same thing. See? Okay. Oh my gosh,
there's different colors, guys. This is
gray and aqua. I kind of want the gray
and
titanium. Ooh, is this one mine? Am I
taking this one home? Electronic DIY
cutting machine with scanner. Makes
custom stickers, vinyl wall art,
greeting cards, and more. It includes
682
patterns. Pretty interesting. Has a very
good rating. Lots of five
stars. All right, y'all. This is it. I'm
buying it.
Boom. Boom. I'm go check out. This is
it, y'all. I'm so excited to have it.
I'll keep you posted on when I get this
machine in. It's coming Wednesday,
probably even before I post this video.
I'm so excited to play around with it,
unbox it, see what we think. And I
really want to hear from you. Have you
