A peaceful day at home — I started with a quiet morning and brought new life into the space with fresh flowers. I refreshed my phone with a new case and screen protector (so satisfying), then made a warm laksa meatball soup with soft rice cakes for lunch. Simple moments, soft sounds, and a gentle rhythm.
Thank you for being here 🌿 —

My current phone protector is a bit all cracked. I keep dropping my phone. So I got a new phone
protector which is a dust-free foam cabin one. Technically it's for easy applying. However,
I have tried these kind of products before and it didn't work out as they described. It wasn't as
easy as they claimed it to be. So let's see how this one goes. And also at the same time,
got a protector for the cameras. The brand is Polar Rhinos. So I don't know how good this is
to you. We will find out very soon. Looks very similar to the one I had last time.
So lots of gadgets in the set. These will be wipes. So this one looks like a spare to me.
There's one already installed inside. I will keep the spare for next time I do go through
these screen protectors too often. Tuck this one away for now. Oh, look at this.
I like how they're doing this. A card with a little child's photo attached to the product.
So it's only in Chinese, but let me explain it to you. So this is information of this particular
child that's gone missing since 2006. The chance of a child goes missing and then get found and
returned to their parents is extremely low. It's less than 1%, I think. So I've heard of this
organization before. It's called Baby Come Home. It's a charity organization. So they send out
flyers like these and attach it to everything, like coffee cups or everything of missing child's
information and photo with their details and distinctive features. So if anyone sees brochures
like this and sees a child that you think matches this information on the brochure,
you can contact them. There have been some children found through this method. So I
think this is a very meaningful program. Going back to our screen protectors,
let's see how this works. There's a bit of an instruction here. So step one,
I should remove the old screen protector.
So now the idea, step one, I put my phone in to the slot, which should fit exactly given this is
the cabin I bought for my phone model. Close the cabin. Close. Pull the strip. That comes right
out and I put my finger here and press for 20 seconds. Here we go. And remove. Again,
very far from perfect. Massive bubbles. You see them? Massive bubbles. Although they're pretty
easy to kind of just push out. So I do think the cabins are helpful because the best thing it does
is that it secures the position of the protector film for you, which is actually harder to do than
you think. It doesn't do a perfectly seamless job as it claims, but we got rid of the bubbles pretty
easily. And given it's already in the perfect position, I think it's worked out pretty well.
And now we'll just apply the camera protector and hopefully that will keep my phone protected for a
long time. That's pretty cool. It's like one acrylic piece. So this should be pretty easy
to apply because it just slots in. You see the slots for all three lenses. So that should just
slot in stick, technically. Here we go. Super easy. It's great. This is great. I feel like
the phone's much more protected now. Okay. Here is a problem I just realized
with the camera lens protector. So it's super easy to apply and definitely make the phone feel more
protected. However, if you have a phone case, which I was trying to put a new one on, any phone
case with allocated lens protection slots, it won't work for it. So if I want to use this case,
I have to take the camera lens protector off, which is okay because this is kind of built-in
anyway, isn't it? So I might do that because this is a really cute case and I want to be
able to use it. It's a Disney princess case with a mirror surface, which comes very handy
for you to touch up makeup and stuff. Cute, hey? Today's lunch, I'll be making a curry laksa pork
meatball soup with rice cake. So for meatballs, we'll be using pork mince, breadcrumbs, an egg,
and some Asian spices. Veggies to be added to the soup are green beans, zucchini, and a tomato.
To make the soup, we'll be using coconut milk, some Thai curry paste, and chicken stock. And
here is some Chinese rice cake, which I'm soaking in cold water for now. We will have to boil that
later to have them cooked. The soaking makes it softer and a better texture, I suppose.
Lots of meatball soup and rice cake is now done, and I'm just going to garnish with some
crushed peanuts. I'm sure it's going to be amazing.
