⚓️Duluth Ships vs Extreme Weather 9 Incredible Moments!
Boat friends, let's go on a journey.
Let's go together right now in this video
and watch some of these Great Lakes ships
battling the crazy weather and wild conditions.
You can see some of these clips playing in the background.
This is what's coming.
I went back and I found nine videos
over the years that we've been doing this together
that have the snow, the wind, the rain, the ice,
all of those cool elements that we love watching ships in.
And if you've been a boat friend,
we're gonna relive the past
with some of these awesome videos.
If you have never watched a Vibe with Mike video,
kick back, relax, and get ready to watch some fun ships
in some interesting conditions.
Let's go.
Look at this.
Look at all of that ice.
Have you ever seen the American Spirit look like this?
This is so cool.
Look at that boom now.
Very visible.
You can still see some lights on the superstructure.
Look all the way down the pier.
Wow.
It's amazing.
And what's really interesting,
as this huge beast goes by us,
it's gonna disappear into all of that sea smoke on the lake.
Boat friends, how am I gonna replicate this
for you in the future?
How can I top this?
I mean, this is gonna be pretty tough.
Got plenty of people down here with cameras.
Everybody wants to capture this.
Make sure you hit that like button
as you join here live to check this ship out.
Let me zoom in and make sure you don't miss anything.
Take a look at that ice right there.
Wow.
Absolutely incredible.
And I do have some information
that I'm gonna share with you,
but we'll do that as the ship goes by.
I have to let you see this.
I can't put that camera down.
Take a look at how awesome this is.
Let me zoom in a little more
so you can really see that ice on the bow.
How fantastic is that?
You got some crew members that are up there.
Wow.
I got this rain suit on.
I got a jacket, pants.
The hood goes over the top of me.
I got the rubber boots.
Makes all the difference in conditions like this.
Well, here's the ship.
It's amazing the ship is coming through.
Again, forgive me because I have to wipe off this lens
every five, 10 seconds for you.
So you're gonna get some water spots on there.
The captain of the block is a true pro saying,
you know what, I'm not worrying
about those 40 mile per hour wind gusts.
Check it out.
There's actually some crew members on deck.
That really surprised me.
Check that out.
That just shows they've been there and done that before.
Look at that American flag fly on the stern.
They make a difference from a decibel level.
Let's keep our eye on these waves.
There you go.
Wanna stick with this bow
because I know that's where we're gonna see
some action.
I'm backing up now about 10, 15 feet
because I know that there's gonna be some volatility.
It's like a washing machine right now in that canal.
Look at that.
That's unbelievable.
Wow.
Take a look at that steam.
PRT is working hard right now.
Tons of steam just billowing out.
Look at all this water along the wall.
Lake Superior, anywhere they sail,
the weather can change on them.
So you really gotta know what you're doing with the radar
and be on top of your game.
Here it is like a ghost ship.
You can see the steering pole right there,
the front portion of the bow.
Look at that.
Look at it pushing through the waves.
You can see their red light reflecting off the fog.
Look at the backside of the pilot house.
Check out the boom.
This is like movie set effects right now.
This is amazing.
Really fun to watch this old school acre go out like this.
Take a look at the wave action.
Walking with it.
Beautiful ship.
Oh, did you see that?
That was awesome.
Look at this.
Some action in the canal tonight, no doubt about it.
Fight with the waves.
Take a look at this beautiful, beautiful ship.
Look at that kickup.
Take a look at it moving through the canal,
punching through this ice.
No challenge at all,
but look at all that ice moving and flexing
as this big thousand foot giant makes its way
out onto Lake Superior.
It's amazing to see that fog the way it is.
Look at that ice now moving because of the water flow
caused by this big giant coming through.
Wintertime fog.
Look at that beast.
Keeping it framed right here so you can still see that ice.
The bridge disappears right before eyes.
I'll give you a full look at this.
How impressive is that?
Unbelievable.
Are you kidding me?
Look at this.
Wow.
Now I was not expecting that.
You gotta be kidding me.
Watch this.
Hopefully that bird stays safe there.
Looks like the bird is safe.
Look how interesting that is.
Look at those little pieces of ice that have broken off
that are gliding over the surface.
It almost looks like something you'd see on Star Wars.
Look at that.
That's incredible.
That is just so cool.
Channel here towards Superior.
You can really see the ice breaking
as we make our way all the way down.
Boat friends, do you wanna see something spectacular?
Look at this.
The commander told me these are called lightning cracks.
Look at that ice.
It's all because of the pressure of this vessel
going through that ice.
That is amazing.
I've never seen anything like this.
That is so cool.
Look at that.
I mean, again, it looks like lightning strikes
going through the ice.
That is so awesome.
Take a look out there, boat friends.
You got the spar breaking some ice.
It's a Coast Guard vessel here in Duluth.
Look at this amazing vessel.
Ice all over it.
I wanted to get this side of the pier
so you could see this beautiful sunrise with the sea smoke.
Check it out.
Be able to see the contrast
with that steering pole right there.
Unbelievable.
As the sun disappears right behind
and we get a great look at this ship with the ice.
