Avkin Demonstrates Wearable AvBirth Birthing Simulator at IMSH 2023

Hi, I'm Megan Weldon here at IMSH 2023.
We are at the Avkin booth and we're going to see a birthing demonstration with our newest
product AvBirth.
So Amy Bucca is over here getting the baby loaded, so we're going to come see her.
Amy is loading up that placenta.
It's a super, super realistic, so again, that they are actually birthing that placenta after
the birth happens.
This is the umbilical cord.
You are actually able to cut this after the birth.
So after you birth that baby, you're able to cut that.
It comes with multiple replacements, so you're able to cut multiple times and then just put
that right back into that baby.
And this is one of the most lifelike babies on the market.
So this is a LifeCast baby.
Here at Avkin, we partnered with LifeCast to be able to bring you guys the most realistic
baby possible to be able to birth.
You can actually intubate this baby.
You can do some emergency resuscitation, but again, this is a super, super realistic and
it really feels like a baby when you hold it.
So this is Amy just getting that loaded up into the birthing canal.
And that's as easy as it is, guys.
That is how easy it is to actually load this birthing product.
We did testing and it's on average two and a half minutes between your simulations.
The fluidics are all in an IV bag and super easy to just disconnect and reconnect there.
Belly goes right on top, so you can see Amy there putting it right on.
And then it just clips right down to go in between and get re-racked for that next simulation
that you have.
So the other thing with the AbBirth is you are able to, it is wireless and tetherless.
So she's able to actually walk around.
You can get her out of bed.
She can birth in multiple positions.
If you want to turn her on her left side, on her right side, you can move her around
to adjust for that.
And one of the coolest things is as she's walking around, you can actually have her
water break.
So there's amniotic fluid in there.
So again, if you want to be able to demonstrate that water breaking to be able to then insinuate
that she needs to start pushing, you're able to do that.
So this is where you're going to be controlling your simulation from.
Everything's controlled with Bluetooth, so you do not need Wi-Fi to be able to control this.
So this is our normal delivery.
And this is going to show you the progression of the simulation.
You're able to see that.
And if you look there on her wrist, that's the ab band.
That is actually what is notifying her of the contractions.
So when the product is showing that contraction and pushing that baby down, she's getting
an alert on the ab band that is increasing in vibration.
So she knows the intensity of the simulation and then when it's coming back down again.
So she can react appropriately to what's going on.
You can actually also check the dilation.
So students are able to actually reach in there and they can feel that dilation to know
where the patient's at in terms.
You as a facilitator can look on the app and be able to see where they're at, but the students
are able to check for that dilation.
And so that they know when to tell the patient to start pushing.
So they're really able to coach the patient through this delivery process.
So again, being able to help them with pushing, being able to talk to them and communicating.
You can do all kinds of simulation with this.
So think about doing a language barrier.
Think about a patient who doesn't want an epidural, things like that, where you can
have that diversity.
Push, push, push, push, push, push, push, push, push, push, push, push.
Keep going, Bethany.
Okay, take a breath right back in it.
Okay, ready?
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
And baby's here.
So you have that super realistic umbilical cord there that, again, they're able to cut.
We have replacements, so again, you can keep cutting through it.
And again, it'll last you for a long time to be able to do that.
So that's the AbbBirth product.
Everything here at AbbCan is for sterilized patients, so wearable products.
If you want to be able to see this product, as you can see, this is just an overlay that's
on top of her.
It is the only automated birthing product on the market.
Again, all of the AbbCan products here are wearable with technology inside of them to
cue the wearer when to react and respond so that they are actually responding to the care
that's being provided to them.
And students are able to practice that communication, that empathy, and really see a high-fidelity
simulation.
