Now we all know by now how to open the bottle correctly or we should but today
I'm going to teach you something that will make you very impressive at a
dinner party. How to open the champagne bottle by savoring the end off with a
flute. This is a fantastic trick for a dinner party and in today's episode I'm
going to show you exactly how it's done. Now we might not always get it the first
time every time but I'm going to show you the technique and you must try and
you must practice. So watch closely. The most important thing when you're savoring
any bottle is that the bottle is very cold. Either bury the whole bottle in ice
or just the neck first and make sure that bottle is very very cool. The warmer the
bottle the greater the chance that the bottle will actually explode. You're then
going to take the wrapper off the bottle. You're going to undo the cage
that's over the top of the cork. You're going to loosen the cage and lift that
above the lip of the bottle. The way the bottle is constructed it's in two halves
so there's a seam that runs down either side of the bottle. The final part of the
production of the bottle is the lip that joins the top of the bottle. Where the
bottle is the weakest is where that seam connects with the lip of the bottle and
that is the magic point that you want to hit. It can't be too hard or you'll break
the glass. It is about getting the right amount of pressure in the right place and
the pressure within the bottle will expel the end of the bottle off. And don't be
worried about there being any glass inside the bottle. The pressure from the
inside of the bottle out will ensure that there's no glass whatsoever contained
within your champagne. Take the glass by the bulb, slide that up along the seam of
the bottle connecting gently with the end of the bottle and after one maybe
two goes that should come clean off.
