Hey guys, Will here with WTF Car Reviews and today we're going to be reviewing this all-new 2022
Nissan Sentra SR. And huge thanks to Ben and the rest of the management and staff here at
Courtesy Nissan in Tampa, Florida for making this review possible. These guys have an impressive
inventory. I'll leave a link to it below. And if you're in the Tampa area looking for a new car or
truck, I would definitely suggest checking these guys out. And as for Ben. So for those of you
guys who don't know, the Sentra has been part of Nissan's lineup since 1982. That's when the
first generation was released. It sat on several different platforms since then. Fast forward to
1999, they ended up releasing the fourth generation Nissan Sentra and that's when it became sold in
the United States. Fast forward to 2019-2020, that's when this all-new eighth generation or
fourth U.S. sold generation Sentra was released. And here for 2022, we have this SR trim. So the
SR is going to give us the 149 horsepower, 146 pound-feet of torque, four-cylinder motor, same
with all Nissan Sentras. But this is going to be a really, really impressive interior as well as
a ton of exterior options that you wouldn't get on the base S Nissan Sentra. For 2022, all Nissan
Sentras are going to have standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, which is a great
feature. You bump up to the SV trim, you're going to get a 7-inch illuminated digital heads-up
cluster, as well as an 8-inch touchscreen too, making the user interface significantly more
convenient. And as we come to the SR trim, which is top of the line if you don't go for the
Midnight Edition. But for the SR trim, we're going to get this smoked chrome grille as you see up
front. We'll check that out in one second. We get 18-inch alloy wheels, although we're going to have
these optional blacked-out rims here too. We get the two-tone color differentiation with the top
of the roof right up top and a really, really impressive interior. But this SR trim is going
to be completely fully loaded. Starting with the advanced safety features, we're going to have
automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. We're going to have intelligent
forward collision warning, rear auto braking, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert,
lane departure warning. The list really does go on and on. Once you check out the window sticker,
I'll pause and let you guys see all the standard features. But as far as the options, we're also
going to get quite a few of those too. We're going to have almost $3,000 in total options.
Starting with the SR premium package, that's going to give us these LED headlights and LED
daytime running strips. We're going to get power sliding moonroof with tilt. We're going to get
these leatherette trim seats. Very, very nice seats. We're going to get six-way power adjustments,
although as you'll see the driver's seat, it only comes up and down in one direction. You can't kind
of cup it like a bucket seat like you can with a lot of seats, but still not a big deal. Super
luxurious interior. We'll check all that out in one minute. Front seats are also going to be heated.
We're going to have a heated steering wheel and a really good sounding eight-speaker premium Bose
audio system. We're going to have a 360 camera, Wi-Fi hotspot, as well as these $700 18-inch
aluminum rims. After a $1,000 destination charge, we're going to be sitting right under 27,000 bucks.
What do we get for that price? Let's jump right in. So up front, you're going to notice your full
LED headlights with daytime running strips as well. They're going to be also LEDs. And down here,
they have a really nice light pattern, and I love this blue metallic paint color. It really,
really pops. We have the black little contrast with LED fog lights. I like this little bottom
portion here too. I like that little sharp edge, definitely making the front end look
significantly more aggressive. And as we mentioned, we're not going to have the shiny chrome for this
little V portion of the front grille. It's just going to be the smoke chrome material. It's still
going to be kind of reflective. You can see me through the mirror, but it's not going to be
obnoxiously shiny like you do get with other trims. And up front, you notice your Nissan badge is also
going to be smoked out over here. Pretty massive. It's almost the size of my hand. It's a little
bit dirty up front over here, but I do like these little hexagonal designs. This is all going to be
blocked off, but you are going to get some airflow right over here, leading to your radiator for your
two liter four cylinder engine. But we can take a step back and take a look at those daytime running
strips right up front. They look really, really beautiful. And this blue paint color also,
seriously, seriously gorgeous. But as far as this wheel and tire setup, this is also pretty
impressive with these black rims. We get the five piece lug pattern. We do get wheel locks.
That's going to be an option. Tires are going to be Hankook Energy GTs. The dimensions are 215 45
R18s. Pretty low profile setup. They definitely look really aggressive with these 18 inch rims,
and it should be more than wide enough for this 149 horsepower four cylinder engine. I like how
we're not going to have any plastic cladding for the outside of the wheel well. Definitely like
these body color little strips on the outside for your side profile and the mirror. It's going to
be blacked out with an LED strip right on the outside and the glass is going to fill up the
frame pretty well. You're not going to have blind spot monitoring on the glass itself, but this
vehicle does come equipped with blind spot monitoring. We also get smart access for the
driver and the front passenger. As far as the blind spot monitoring, there's going to be sitting
right over here. It's going to light up when there's a vehicle in your blind spot, but continuing
along, we are going to have some pretty dark tints for the rear and the front. I like this
blacked out B pillar. Love the black trim up top. Definitely going to limit the chrome as much as
we can. We are going to have a chrome little strip right down here, but it's still a nice touch.
They did not overdo it with the chrome in this vehicle at all, and most of the chrome on this
vehicle is going to be smoked. I love this blacked out roof. No, this isn't going to be the midnight
edition, but I still like this black roof. Nevertheless, we are going to get a sunroof up top
too, and your antenna right back over there. No smart access for the rear, but not really expected
with a compact sedan starting around $27,000, below $27,000 even after Destination. We're
going to get the same wheel and tire setup back here. Disc brake, single piston, but that's about it.
We continue along back here. Take a look at your tail lights with the reverse lights right
underneath. Well, those are the turn signals. Reverse lights right over here.
Center badge, Nissan, no smoke chrome over here. These are just going to be shiny chrome badges,
but not a big deal. You got your SR, courtesy Nissan, shout out them, and your center badge
right over here for your little trunk lid. Beneath that, we are going to get parking sensors and your
reflectors right down there. I really like this little diffuser area with your hexagonal shapes
and this little gum metal gray, and your exhaust tip right down over there. We'll take one more
step back. You can take a look at the rear styling on this 2022 Sentra one last time.
Let's start this two-liter four-cylinder up and hear how she sounds.
All right, guys, that was, of course, the sound of the two-liter four-cylinder sold by Nissan
for this 2022 Sentra. We can open up this hood area and really check it out. Unfortunately,
we're not going to get any struts, but I'll try to show you guys the process of getting this prop
rod set up without really burning myself right over here. We get the prop rod set up, and you
guys can take a look. We're not going to get an engine cover, so pretty easy motor to work on.
This motor is going to make 149 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque. A little bit up when
comes to torque compared to the Civic we reviewed, but a little bit down on power compared to the
Corolla. Made it to the CVT transmission. This 3,100-pound sedan should get to 60 between the
high H to mid-nine second range, so absolutely not the fastest, but when it comes to fuel economy,
expect 28 city, 37 highway, between 32 and 34 combined miles per gallon, so really good fuel
efficiency and really impressive interior. We'll check that out in one second, but we'll get this
hood shut right here. I'll try to show you guys the process overall without dropping this hood
on my head, but right here, shut it up. We can take a step back. You can take a look at those
front daytime running strips one last time, but that's about it for the exterior on this 2022
Nissan Sentra SR. Really impressive styling. I love this blue contrast, especially with that
smoked V-grille and the daytime running strips. Let's take a step over here and check out the
interior on this 2022 Sentra SR because this is really where this car is going to shine.
We are going to get the smart access for the driver and the front passenger, but as we open
up over here, you'll notice we get soft touch for the upper part of the door panel, very soft touch
too. Down here, we get this red contrast stitching with this leather, really soft leather too. Some
of the softest materials over here, really soft armrest too with the contrast stitch. Definitely
a thumbs up to Nissan for this door panel. Unbelievably high quality, definitely better
than most of the competition. The grab handle is going to be a really well-weighted aluminum
power one touch for the driver, no power one touch for the rest of the passengers, but it's
still nice to get a power one touch. For the driver, this little full carbon fiber trim is
going to surround your window controls, four-way adjustable mirrors, and you got your Bose audio
system right down here. This little cup holder should fit a 12 ounce with no problem, and you
can get a decent amount of snacks right over here with a little aluminum strip right outside. But as
we step in, we get an illuminated Nissan nameplate. This does light up. You can't really notice right
now because it's a pretty sunny day, but at night, it definitely becomes very, very noticeable. And
right here, we get our Syntec seats. They're not going to be real genuine leather, but you could
have fooled me. Unbelievably high quality, really solid bolstering supports over here, a little bit
of cloth, so it's going to make it a little bit softer and cushionier for the shoulder area. And
this area is not going to be perforated, but these are going to be heated seats, very soft, faux
leather material, and this little strip right up top making it look a little bit more sporty. But
coming down here, these seats are going to be full power adjustable, but you're not going to be able
to lift them in both directions. You can only lift them in one direction, same with the drop.
Recline them right here, and you are going to get lumbar support as well. But stepping inside over
here, we can take a look at the interior from a firsthand perspective. And the first thing we
notice is the steering wheel, of course, is going to be really thick, beautiful design,
not the thickest up top, but more than thick enough, really fat 10-in-2 bolstering notches
making it 10-in-2, really nice spot to hold your hands. The 9-in-3 is just about perfect,
and it does get thicker in this location with a very solid cutout for your fingers. The thumb
slot is just about perfect. You do get a flat bottom with some aluminum outlining this area
over here, really high-quality looking steering wheel. This area over here is rubberized as far
as the horn, not the most aggressive horn, wouldn't really be expected of the Nissan Sentra,
but still more than aggressive enough, people should be getting out of your way. As far as
the steering wheel controls, you can skip your songs, adjust the volume, all the left-hand touch,
adjust the infotainment right over here, cruise control settings. You got your hill descent
control, voice commands, and your radar cruise right over here. So with just a 7-inch gauge
cluster or heads-up little cluster over here, you can go left and right just between average
fuel economy. You see your overall information such as your TPMS, trip information, and your
speed limit recognition sign over here. Bluetooth audio, we currently don't have the phone connected.
You get your beeps for the blind spot monitoring as well as the overall sensing system. To the
right, you get your VDC sensing, driver assistance, ECOMO setting, TPMS setting,
clock, vehicle settings. We'll check out the vehicle settings, see what this vehicle has to
offer. You can adjust the lights, locks, wipers, and the rear door alerts, so that lets you know
if there's people still in your car. And over here, you got your overall settings as well.
My personal favorite is just look at the digital speedometer. I like it right over here where I can
see the average speed and a digital speedometer. And up top, you have your clock next to your
thermometer and the mileage on the vehicle and the gas left in the tank based on your average
fuel economy. As far as this tachometer goes to about 6,400 RPM, so pretty high revving naturally
aspirated four-cylinder. The speedometer is going to go to 160. This car probably won't reach that
speed, but it's still nice to get 160 mile an hour speedometer nevertheless. And your gas tank,
of course, right underneath. These wiper controls, very satisfying click, some of the best in the
business. We do get auto headlights for this sedan. We're not going to get rain-sensing wipers, not
really expected, but you can adjust the speed of the wipers right over here when the rain gets more
aggressive. To the left over here, we got our ECO mode, interior brightness, trip reset, and pop our
trunk. Right over here, we can pop our hood down here and the gas tank release right next to it.
I'm not sure if you guys can pick it up. It's getting a little bit dark, but this is the general
vicinity where those pieces will be. The steering wheel is going to be tilt and telescoping. It's
not going to be auto, wouldn't really be expected, but you can adjust it right over here. The
dashboard, we get this beautiful leather trim, leatherette trim with the red contrast stitching.
The full carbon fiber trim continues right here. This area, hard plastic, same with the frame.
The frame area is going to be all hard plastic, but this area in the front where it's going to be
stitched leather, where most people are going to be touching and looking at most of the time,
is going to be really nice soft touch material. As far as the eight-inch touchscreen display,
we're in our main menu right here. We don't have any devices connected, but we can check out our
call history, AM, FM, Bluetooth, audio, USB settings. We do have Apple CarPlay and Android
Auto. Right here, you can adjust between the clock and take a look at your overall settings.
We can adjust the system voice camera. We can't take a look at the camera right here,
but we can adjust the moving object detection as well as the display settings. Super impressive
360 camera, not really expected with the vehicle starting around $26,000, but we can adjust between
the brightness, contrast, tint, color, and black level. Not the best resolution, but still super
impressive that it's available in a vehicle starting around this price point. Anyway,
continue along. Let's see what else we have available. We've got connections, sound settings,
adjust the volume, bass, treble, whatnot. You can adjust between the fade of the sides of the
speakers too. Clock, Nissan Connect services, volumes, and beeps, but that's about it. We can
go back to the main menu right here. We've got a really nice vent, similar to what I get in the
Camaro. Hazards to your passenger airbag. Auto climate, also impressive, but I personally use
the manual climate. Even in vehicles with auto climate, not a big deal for me. We have the heated
steering wheel. That's a great touch for colder climates, as well as heated seats. Beneath that,
over here, we've got USB-C, USB port, and an AUX with a 12-volt right next to it. We're not going
to get a wireless charging pad, unfortunately, but this area would be a pretty good spot to have one.
Pretty nice area for engine start, stop button. It is going to be lit in red, and we get this
really nice leather trim area for where your knee will often hit. The gear selector is going to be
outlined in aluminum with some gloss black over here for the lettering. We can throw it into
reverse right over here, and we can check out our rear view camera. So, like I mentioned, not the
best resolution, but we do get guidance lines and trajectory and a really nice 360 camera. Those
are always super nice features to have, especially for new drivers when you don't want them hitting
a bunch of stuff. They can definitely save a bunch of dents and scratches on your 2022
Nissan Sentra. But continuing back over here, as far as the cupholders, pretty interesting shape.
I've never seen a square cup, but it should definitely keep it in place. I would get that
carbon fiber trim on the outside. As far as the key fob, I guess I'll show you guys old-school
Nissan key fob with old-school Nissan badge. It hasn't even been updated to the new style badge.
Over here, we have a nice little cubby. This could be a pretty good spot to put the keys, actually.
Anyway, back here, we have this really soft center console area. It's going to have the red contrast
stitching, too. Definitely a thumbs-up. Really comfortable area to rest your arm. I like how it
leads, too, with this contrast stitching. Such a premium-looking interior. This is definitely the
best interior that I've seen in this segment. We're still in reverse. Throw it back into parking,
it immediately goes back into the original screen. But let's open this up right here,
take a look at the space. Absolutely massive. I actually was not expecting it to be this large.
You could easily fit two two-liter bottles of soda in here with no issues whatsoever.
Easily fit a 12-pack of cans. Really impressive storage back here. Just about anything you need
to fit, you'd be able to fit back there. As far as the center console, we could pop it right here.
Not the most space. It's not lined with felt. It is damped. I'd say you fit between 10 to 12
license plates. Plenty of space, but not the most that I've seen. Continuing up top, as far as the
mirror, we're not going to get a frameless auto-dimming, but you can simply dim the mirror
yourself right over here. Sunglass holder, pretty nice to have light controls. And then we are going
to have a power opening sunroof. You simply slide this open right here. It's not going to be
automatic open. Oh, it is. You just got to double click it. But opens right up. Pretty nice day
right now in Tampa, Florida. Sunny and 75. Really beautiful day. But I still don't like having sunroof
open because it affects the audio quality. So we'll shut it up right here. Before we hop out in
the backseat, let's take a look at this window sticker really quick and see anything that I may
have missed. So, of course, we are going to get the two liter dual overhead cam four-cylinder
engine with 149 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque. Xtronic CVT, dual pinion electric
step power steering, active understeer control, independent strut front and multi-link rear
suspension, intelligence trace control, active ride control, all that. As far as the advanced
safety features, as we mentioned, we're going to get auto emergency braking with pedestrian
detection, intelligent forward collision warning, rear automatic braking, blind spot warning,
rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning with haptic steering wheel,
high beam assist, rear view monitor. We get Nissan advanced airbag system with dual stage
supplemental driver and passenger front curtain airbags. Not going to go through all that. You
can pause, take a look at all the rest of the advanced safety features. As far as comfort and
convenience, we are going to get the Nissan intelligent key with push button ignition,
remote start, dual zone auto climate. We get power one touch for the driver for the up and down
manual tilt steering wheel. We get the intelligent auto headlamps, intelligent driver alertness and
rear door alert. As far as the standard audio entertainment on the SR trim, you can pause,
take a look. We are going to get some options over here, which gets rid of most of these
standard features. Outside, we get our 18 inch alloy wheels. We are going to have a $700 upgrade
for them to be black alloy wheels. We're going to have 215, 45, R18 all seasons, LED headlights with
LED daytime runners, LED fog lamps as well. Black painted heated power outside mirrors with turn
signal indicators, dark chrome V motion grill, rear spoiler, lower body side sill extensions,
chrome exhaust finisher. In the interior, we get a six-way manual driver's seat. Of course,
we are going to have the upgraded six-way power driver's seat with two-way lumbar control,
but these are just standard features. We're going to have the leather wrapped steering
wheel standard, leather wrapped ship knob standard, sport cloth seat trim standard.
We're also going to have upgraded seat trims, but after all these options, the base Nissan
Sentra SR is going to come out to an MSRP just over 22,000 bucks, 22,100. As far as options,
we are going to get a few of them. For 75 bucks, we get the clear rear bumper protector for 250.
We get this absolutely gorgeous two-tone metallic paint. For 205, we get the carpeted floor mats
with a trunk mat. 80 bucks gets you these door sill plates. They are going to be illuminated,
so pretty good value for 80 bucks, but the big package for 2,500, we're going to get this SR
premium package. This gives us the thin type LED headlights with LED daytime running
lights too. We're going to get the power sliding glass moonroof with tilt feature,
Primatex appointed seat trim. That's going to be this faux leather trim,
really comfortable, really high quality trim, especially with these red accents. The seats
also are going to be six-way power for the driver's seat with two-way lumbar control,
heated front seats, heated steering wheel, eight-speaker Bose premium audio system,
intelligent 360 monitor, Nissan services, sun visors with illuminated vanity mirrors,
Nissan connect with Wi-Fi hotspot, and the 700 bucks gets you these 18-inch black alloy wheels.
After about 1,000 bucks for the destination, we're going to be sitting right under 27,000 bucks,
pretty good value. The vehicle is not going to be the fastest, but as far as fuel economy,
expect 32 combined MPGs, 28 city, 37 highway. I know people that have gotten up to 34 combined
MPGs, so really, really fuel efficient vehicle. The interior, it's unbelievably luxurious. I love
the exterior styling. Definitely a thumbs up so far. Can't wait to take it out for a drive.
Before we do that, let's check out the back seat real quick, see how much space is offered back
there, as well as the overall quality of the materials. All right, guys, step into the back
seat of the 2022 Nissan Sentra SR. Up top, unfortunately, we're not going to get the same
soft touch that we had in the back. Not a big deal, though, because that super soft leather
trim with the contrast stitching does continue as we come down over here. The aluminum door handle
also continues, really high-quality resistance to that faux carbon fiber trim. Right down here,
no power one touch for the window, but still a power window, of course. Super soft trim over here
for the elbow pad, solid little storage area, Bose premium audio system with a really large
cup holder, which will probably be able to fit a big gulp back there. Not the most space for the
snacks, but the area over here should fit just about any size bottle or cup that you would need.
The seats back here, they're going to be pretty well bolstered, surprisingly bolstered for a back
seat. The padding continues all the way out for the door frame, so the seat's going to feel
pretty couch-like. Solid headrest, it's not going to be adjustable, not a very big deal. As far as
legroom, as you see, looks pretty impressive. We'll take a step in here and really check it out.
So again, I'm six feet tall, sitting behind my seat settings, and I still have at least two,
three inches of legroom. Pretty impressive space for a compact sedan. My feet have more than enough
space back here, too. We're not going to get any air vents, unfortunately. We do get a USB port back
here. Air vents will be nice for a top trim. We do have a map pocket back here behind the passenger,
no map pocket behind the driver, unfortunately. And this little center cubby right here does not
have a string, so you got to jab your hand in between it, but the little area over here for
your elbow is going to be very soft. Cup holders, not rubberized, but should still fit just about
any size cup you would need. The light control is right back here. You can turn it on or off
right back there, but that's about it for the back seat. It's about it for the interior overall.
Let's check out the trunk real quick, then take this car out for a drive. All right, guys, so to
get into this trunk, you simply pull this little latch right up here, and it does give you a little
bit of a boost coming up. And this opening is absolutely massive. One of the largest openings
in the segment. It's about just as wide as the trunk itself. You can be able to fit just about
any size suitcase back here with literally zero issues. So huge thumbs up to Nissan
for engineering such a massive opening for the trunk. You do get the additional little
Sentra nameplate right here. Only complaint is that we're not going to have any little
covers for these hinges. So if you pack up the trunk a little bit too high, expect these hinges
to crush a little bit of your cargo if you do pack it high. So definitely be aware of that.
Other than that, really massive trunk space. Definitely impressed. We can shut this thing
up, take a look at the rear styling one last time, but that's about it for the inside and
outside of this all new 2022 Sentra SR. Let's take it out for a drive. All right, guys, now
we've just about seen everything we need to see with the inside and outside of this all new 2022
Nissan Sentra SR. Let's take it out for a drive and really see how it performs. And first thing
I noticed, of course, steering wheel, absolutely wonderful shape, one of the best steering wheels
in the segment, one of the best signals that I've ever viewed on this channel. Honestly,
Nissan's been absolutely killing it when it comes to the steering wheels on all models,
starting with the Pathfinder. The Frontier has a great steering wheel, too. One of the greatest
steering racks in the business as well. But taking a step out here, really sharp throttle response.
As soon as you start tapping the gas pedal, this vehicle really starts to move. It goes to about
2300 RPM and you get to about 30 miles an hour, basically zero gas pedal. Surprisingly sensitive
when it comes to the tuning. We lean into the gas pedal a little bit more throughout this test
drive to really see how this power plant works with this 2022 Nissan Sentra. My first impressions
are definitely, definitely impressive. All right, guys, we've got a little open road right here.
Should give us a good opportunity to see how this car can accelerate off the line. So right here,
off the line, matting the gas pedal, pretty soft off the line, but once you cross about 4000,
it really starts to pick up. You don't have to push it a whole lot farther than that,
but we get to pretty decent speeds, more than quick enough. Definitely sufficient for a daily
driver. Expect zero to 60 times to be around nine seconds. You may get a little bit quicker.
You may be a little bit slower, but around nine seconds should be the average zero to 60 time on
this car. But just cruising around here, going about 35 miles per hour, really soft. You don't
feel the bumps really at all. Not a lot of wind noise. Once we take it to a little bit higher
speeds, we'll see if the wind noise picks up. But just cruising around right here,
really impressive. The steering also directly on center. As soon as you even think about turning
the wheel, the vehicle changes directions, even with these 215 tires up front. Really impressive
car so far. But all right, taking a step out here into this multiple lane road, the sun is
really brutal right now, but about half throttle, we go to about 4000 RPM and we get highway speeds
pretty effortlessly. It's just the tuning is kind of aggressive. So when you step in the gas about
like halfway, it takes off pretty well. You feel like this vehicle has really, really strong power.
It's just once you push it further, so from halfway to full throttle, you don't really feel
that much more. So the tuning definitely prioritizes the first half of the gas pedal,
if that makes any sense. And I'm sure most drivers care a lot more about the first half
of the gas pedal than the second half. And that's what this vehicle is all about. It's
about the commute. So when you're commuting, you want that first half of the gas pedal to
be as strong as possible. The second half isn't necessarily as important, but taking a step over
here, we'll do that into about halfway one more time. You'll see. You get the speed really just
about effortlessly. Just cruising on this road about like 40 miles per hour. You do hear a little
bit of road noise, pretty competitive with the segment, not quite as quiet as the Civic. The
Civic's a little bit quieter when it comes to road noise, but just about the same as the Corolla.
Right here, we can take a look at this vehicle's turning radius. The steering is so on center,
so sharp, really, really impressive. And this turning radius is ridiculous too. Like, I don't
know if you guys can pick it up, but we're just about perfectly flat. And this is like a zero
turn lawnmower. We didn't even finish the lock on the steering wheel. One of the more impressive
turning radiuses in the business. I'm going to have to put on the POV hat, try to show you guys
firsthand how sharp this vehicle really does turn. All right, guys, taking a step out here in the all
new 2022 Nissan Sentra SR. I apologize for the sun. I know it's probably really bright,
but stepping out here, we'll lead on the gas right over here.
See guys, it does have simulated gears too. This is a CVT transmission, but the simulated gears
definitely make it feel more like a conventional automatic. And right here, you see the steering
just responds instantly. And this turning radius is absolutely absurd. You see the steering wheel,
it's not even done being turned. We got an, look at this. This is like an actual lawnmower,
how tight this vehicle can turn. And stepping back out right over here.
You definitely get to speed. It's not going to blow you away in terms of acceleration,
but you definitely get there. Again, the top speed in this vehicle is going to be well over
a hundred miles an hour. As far as overall speed, definitely nothing to be concerned with. You're
definitely going to get there. It's just may take you a little bit longer. The engine note though,
I think it sounds pretty good. This naturally aspirated four cylinder engine,
camera mount just felt a good thing. We're using the POV camera right now,
but as you see going about like 35, 37 miles an hour, you definitely hear a decent amount of road
noise. All right, we can take a step out onto this road and it's going to be really rough.
This is one of the rougher stretches of pavement in the area. And you'll see how this Nissan
Sentra handles it. And I think it's handled pretty well. The ride quality in this vehicle
is very impressive, but right here, boom, handles the bumps really well right here.
It's like absolutely nothing. This car is actually really impressive when it comes to
handling the bumps. Taking a step right back out onto this road, as soon as we get the chance,
we'll try out one more little acceleration run. We'll lean into about halfway, third of the way
right here, halfway right now. Boom. See, it goes to about 4,400 RPM and we get to highway speeds
really effortlessly. Not a bad performer when it comes to highway acceleration. The only complaint
I have is that once you get past the halfway mark, there really isn't a whole lot left.
Right here, we can take a look at the on-road turning radius of this car. That guy who's
playing along, he made it for us. And you'll see, we get onto just about any road with basically
zero effort whatsoever. But light acceleration, daily acceleration, we're not even crossing 3,500
RPM. We get to 45 miles an hour just about effortlessly. Really torquey motor when you're
low with the throttle. So they definitely did a great job tuning it. I wish they didn't get rid
of the turbo option if we had an optional SR turbo like we had in the earlier models. That
would be great. I'm sure not a lot of people bought it. That's why they ended up discontinuing
it. But that VC turbo that we had in the Altima, I can only imagine how good of a performer this
car would be if it had it. But right here, check out this response in the steering wheel. As soon
as you start turning the wheel, this vehicle does an absolutely fantastic job when it comes to
changing direction. Great steering rack, great steering wheel, really impressive overall. We'll
hit the sharp turn over here a little bit quicker than we should. Give you guys a good idea of this
vehicle's body roll right here. Way quicker than we should. Boom, basically zero body roll, no
understeer. I'm actually surprised on how flat this vehicle remained. Really impressive. All in
all, guys, I'm really impressed with this 2022 Sentra SR. It's not the fastest car. It's about
as fast as the Civic. I think it's a little bit torquier than the Civic when it comes to the gas
pedal. And the Corolla that we reviewed was with a manual transmission, so it's not a fair comparison.
I feel like the Corolla had a little bit more power, whereas this is more comparable to the
power plant on the Civic. Either way, though, this has better handling than both the Civic and the
Corolla. I think the ride quality is a little bit softer compared to both vehicles, too, and the
body roll is essentially nonexistent. I think this is the best handling vehicle in the segment.
You do have a little bit extra road noise. Maybe it's the tires, maybe it's the Hankook tires,
but either way, the road noise in this vehicle is a little bit more apparent than the Honda. About
the same as the Toyota, but still, it's a little bit more road noise than I would want for a vehicle
starting to approach close to $30,000. But anyway, either way, this is a super impressive vehicle.
The interior, best in the segment. I haven't seen a better interior in the segment, especially
considering the price tag. The Civic Sport that we reviewed is about the same price as this. We
have cloth seats. We have just about no soft-touch materials anywhere in the interior. This vehicle
has got Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, premium eight-speaker Bose sound system. Really a fully
loaded compact sedan with a very solid power play and great tuning. I would definitely recommend
anybody looking for a fully loaded compact sedan with good performance around the $25,000 price tag
mark to definitely check this vehicle out. And huge thanks to Courtesy Nissan here in Tampa,
Florida for making this review possible. I'll leave a link to their inventory below.
I'll definitely suggest anybody looking for a new car or truck in the Tampa area to come check
