Welcome back to Cars Unlocked. My name
is Christopher. Today we are unlocking
the 2025 Nissan Ultima SR.
[Music]
So, the Nissan Ultima has been a staple
of the Nissan lineup for a very long
time. Boasting a spacious cabin,
comfortable ride, and phenomenal fuel
efficiency. Let's unlock this thing and
go through the ins and outs. Now, thank
you to Nash Juan from Nissan and
Infiniti for commenting that we review
the 2025 Nissan Ultima. Your comments
keep us going. So, thank you so much for
requesting this vehicle. Now, let's
start with the price. So, the MSRP in
Canada here is 37,485.
Now, that's an American MSRP of about
31470.
Let's see what you get for that price.
Now, before we unlock this car and check
out the inside, I want to talk to you
guys about the shirt. So, if you guys
wondering where I got this nice flower
shirt, special thanks to my friends at
award.co.
They sent me this shirt to show to you
guys. So, check it out. Check out the
website if you guys like the look of
this shirt. It actually fits really nice
and I've gotten a lot of compliments on
it as I've been wearing it. So, check
out their website. Now, let's look at
the key of the Ultima. We still have our
older Nissan key. I would like to see
the new key, but it does come with your
remote start. So, you can remote start
this car, get it nice and cool on a day
like today. Get the air conditioning
going. Let's jump in and take it for a
ride.
Let's talk about the power plant in the
car. 2.5 L 16 valve 4 cylinder engine
attached to the Nissan CVT transmission.
182 horsepower and 178 lb feet of
torque. So, pretty good power plan.
Like, the car drives basically how you
would want a car like this to drive.
It's fuel efficient, it's comfortable,
it's spacious, it has a lot of pep, and
you get great fuel economy. 8.4 L per
every 100 km. That's about 28 m per
gallon for all my American friends
watching. So, really good fuel economy.
And then it's going to come with all the
Nissan safety features like the blind
spot warning. So when you're on the
highway here, someone's in your blind
spot, it's going to notify you there. It
does have the lane departure warning as
well. So if I deviate from the lane,
it's going to notify me there. And you
have the Nissan Pro Pilot Assist, which
basically I have a full demo of this on
my channel where it keeps you centered
in the lane and you can use Nissan's
intelligent cruise control to keep you a
safe distance from the car in front of
you. So, all you really have to do is
hold the wheel and look forward and pay
attention and you're good to go. So, on
the exterior, this one is in the lovely
gray sky pearl. It's kind of like a
frosted bluish gray color. You get a lot
of compliments when you're driving this
car based on the color. Now, checking
out the front end for 2025. There wasn't
a lot of changes here to the Ultima. You
can see we have LED daytime running
lights. And with this SR package, you do
get this blacked out Nissan Votion
grill. So, the traditional Ultimas, this
is going to be chrome, but you do have a
lot of black accents throughout here.
And we have our orange SR badging right
into the front grill of the Ultima. Now,
there's a few different drive modes.
There is a sport mode and a regular
mode. So, I'm just going to do a quick
little launch here and take off. We're
in sport mode now.
It's taking a little bit, but let's see
if we can get up to 100 here. And
there's 100. So, not a bad takeoff.
Like, like I said, it does have quite a
bit of pickup for this type of car. and
you're choosing this car over like
something like the Nissan Sentra or the
Toyota Corolla, if you want to go up to
maybe a just a larger sedan with more
space, a little more pep under the hood.
The fuel economy is negligible for what
you would save by dropping down in
engine size. When we look at the tires
and rims, this one being the SR, you get
these 19in aluminum alloy rims. It's
sitting on Bridgestone 235s 40R19 tires
as well. This one's going to come with
all-wheel drive. You have your front
disc brakes and your rear disc brakes.
So, lots to love. We did a snow test of
this vehicle, which I will link in the
description below, so you guys can check
that out how it handles in the snow. On
that side profile, we do have a bit more
black accents continued. They've blacked
out our window pillars here, blacked out
our mirror caps as well. They are
breakaway mirrors, so you can kind of
fold them in if you're in a tight
parking spot. You have your keyless
entry as well. So, you just push the
button right on the door there and it's
going to open up. And they kind of
blacked out the back pillar here, adding
to that floating roof look that this has
been a staple of the Ultima since they
redesigned it in 2019. In terms of the
seating, this SR package comes with this
little custom seating here. You have the
orange stitching on the seat. It's kind
of a leather with a cloth insert seat.
So, that's what you get when you
upgrade. You have the one sunroof right
at the top. So, let a little light in
the car. Let the hair start flowing a
bit there. I'm very impressed with the
2025 Ultima. Now, if you're still
looking for a sedan but have a small
family, there is quite a bit of space in
the car. And before we get in, I want to
show you guys this. They actually have
this little cover right here to hide the
anchors for the car seat. So, you can
easily find them. They're nice and
labeled. But, let's check out the back
here. The front seat's positioned how I
would be driving, and I got a ton of leg
room. Like I said, this is known for
having a spacious cabin, comfortable
cabin. The seats are really comfortable.
We have our ventilation in the back.
There's a USBC and a regular USB output
right there, so I can charge my devices.
We have a cup holder in each door. And
have a little elbow rest with a cup
holder here as well when you go through
the drive-thru.
You got paddle shifters on your wheel
here, which I wouldn't really use. Like,
I never really use my paddle shifters. I
mentioned that before. Digital
temperature control, heated seats,
heated steering wheel. I have an
eightway power adjustable seat for the
driver. And then your passenger seat's
going to be a manual adjustable seat.
So, say sorry to your misses cuz she's
going to have to adjust her seat
manually. Full Android Auto and Apple
CarPlay. You can connect. You have this
nice 8 inch color display here. I wish
they had the Nissan Google built in like
what's in the Rogue, but you have kind
of the older infotainment system with
the Nissan Connect. You have Android
Auto, Sirius XM, AMFM, Bluetooth audio
streaming. So, this one's going to come
with eight regular speakers.
[Music]
Doesn't sound too bad. It is like a
stock radio, so you're not getting like
the premium radio system like you would
get in the higher platinum packages, the
Bose audio, but it does sound perfect.
As we move along to the back, that
all-wheel drive badging that I
mentioned, like I said, you have it
stapled right on your trunk there. You
have that SR badging again. And this SR
is going to come with this little rear
spoiler, giving it a bit of a sporty
look. Our backup camera is right above
our license plate. And then we have our
rear parking sensor. So, it's going to
come with rear emergency braking, which
I'm going to test out for you guys.
You'll have your backup camera and your
forward emergency brake. Look at this.
I'm backing right up close to this car.
As I approach it, it's going to stop for
me. Hear my sensors going off.
And there, it just stops. So, really
tough to hit something when you have
those sensors and the rear emergency
braking. It's going to automatically
stop for you. Not saying that it's going
to work every time. If you go at fast
speeds, it probably won't stop in time,
but it's definitely good to know that
you have that if you have trouble
parking.
Keep it running.
I definitely like the straight back
shifter. And we got a wireless charging
pad down below so I can plug my or set
my phone right on the pad there and
charge it versus plugging it in. I
currently own a 2014 Ultima and last
year I posted my 10y year of ownership
review on that car. So, I'm going to
link that in the description as well.
You guys can check that out. But I can
certainly attest about the reliability.
The car is still going strong and I plan
to drive it for another hopefully 3 to 5
years. Now, the thing that blows me
away, every time I open this trunk, I'm
amazed by how much space is in it.
There's 15.4 4 cubic feet of space in
the trunk. Now, dead body test. I'm
thinking you could fit probably three
dead bodies in there. But if you have
more dead bodies, you can just drop the
seats down. You pull these levers here.
You can fold your seats down there. It's
a 60/40 split for the seat. So, you can
fit a couple more dead bodies in there.
There has been a murder and you are a
suspect. Okay, hang on just a sec. Let
me settle in and I'll be right back.
They're good.
Coincidentally, for 2025, we do still
get a spare tire in here. A lot of the
newer models and a lot of the
manufacturers are cheaping out on the
spare tires, but your Ultima does come
with a spare tire. My overall thoughts
about the Ultima, basically, it's got a
spacious cabin. It's got a ton of tech,
great comfortable seating with the
all-wheel drive. It gives you that peace
of mind in the wintertime, and very
competitive fuel economy. So, those are
the pros. I'm going to be honest. It's
not a super exciting car to drive. Like,
you're not excited to get in this car
and get on the road and and go for a
long drive. However, it's practical,
it's reliable, it's efficient, and it's
comfortable. And when you're buying a
car in this type of class, that's
basically what you're looking for. What
do you guys think about the Nissan
Ultima? You guys put your comments in.
Do you guys own this car? Are you test
driving one? Are you thinking of buying
it? I'd love to hear your questions. I'd
love to hear your thoughts. Again,
special thanks to Nash Juan from Nissan
and Infiniti for commenting and
requesting we take this car out for an
unlock for you guys. And if you guys are
new, we're doing all different
automotive content. So, make sure you
guys hit that subscribe button, give us
a thumbs up. Like I said before, special
thanks to Award Brand Co. for the shirt.
And I'm going to be rocking these shirts
all summer. So, we'll see you guys in
the next one.
