And it'll be crocheted a lefty four and three in the area to he
is not one at Fenway in a Red Sox uniform despite some
outstanding starts. He is oh and three.
Lindora Homer against crochet in that game in Chicago where
crochet struck out eight in three in the third innings and
he drives this one out to left field hooking away from Durant
and it's one hop against the wall and Lindora will head to
second base and make it easily with a lead off stand up
double. So the booze here is one Soto who's catching a lot of
heat in New York these days. Lindor at second in there for
strike three. Good morning. Good afternoon. Good night to one
Soto that puts him away two down. I just feel there's a lot
of indecision with Juan right now up at the plate. They're
just a hitter like himself. We've seen him take three
pitches like that not get the bat off the shoulder. It just
shows I feel and I'm speculating that it's just a
lot of indecision. Three two again to Alonzo. And in there
strike three ninety seven with the blazing fastball. So
despite the lead off double the strand that runner. And so now
it is Tyler McGill day for the Mets bottom of the first facing
the Red Sox. Jaron Durant Rafael Devers and Alex Bregman greet
McGill. And Durant foul tips it for strike three came at him
with a sinker on three and two. And McGill's got a strikeout to
start his night. Oh two coming. Oh the outside corner got him
looking at a fastball. Saw McGill with a couple of
strikeouts in the opening inning as Les Diaz has opened
up his strike zone. Two and one to Terrence. And he lashes one
to deep left center field headed back toward the monster. And
it's off the wall. Vietto's digging for third. Terrence
slides in safely at second with a well struck double. And the
Mets have second and third and nobody out. They had second and
third and nobody out here in the second and now Crochet has
himself an exit strategy. But Batey lines one in the center
field for a base hit. In to score is Vietto's. Here comes
Terrence. The throw to the plate by Rafaela is in time. The tag
made by Narvaez and they get Terrence at the plate. But
Vietto scores on the base hit by Batey. His first hit this year
against the lefty and the Mets have a 1-0 lead. Swing and a
miss and McGill fires a fastball by Abreu. And Tyler has struck
out three of the first four batters. On the outside corner
got him looking at a fastball. Five batters four strikeouts
for Tyler McGill. Hasn't swung the bat yet tonight Soto. Been
beating him these cutters. Crochet trying to get him again.
And he will. It's in there for strike three. Ninety eight miles
an hour to punch him out. He's fanned Soto both times. Three
two pitch. Strike three called got him looking frozen with 95
at the knees. Strikeout number five for McGill and there's one
away. One two pitch. Strike three called he got him with 96
on the outside corner. Back to back punch outs for Tyler
McGill. Six overall and there's two outs in the third. One out
one on fourth inning. Crochet's one two. Swing and a miss.
Strike three. He fans Luis Terrenz with a breaking ball
center cut. Fourth strikeout for Garrett Crochet and there's two
away here in the fourth. One two for McGill. And Bregman goes
down swinging. That is seven strikeouts through the first
twelve batters for Tyler McGill. Two two for McGill. Struck him
out. Ninety six right down the middle. Eight strikeouts now for
Tyler McGill. Too shy of his career high. We're only in the
fourth inning. Campbell foul tips it for strike three and
Tyler McGill strikes out the side of the fourth. Nine
strikeouts through four brilliant innings for Tyler
McGill. So long at bat here for Lindor. This would be pitch
number eight next for the Mets shortstop. Beatty with the lead
at second. One away. Line drive to the left. Duran leaps up and
snatches it. He'll fire back to second but Beatty gets back in.
Duran had to make a last second adjustment leaping up for it.
Now number two. This has been one of McGill's finest
performances of the year so far. He has struck out nine over four
scoreless. Little check swing by Sogar. Swing and bunt. Little
miscommunications. The throw and it's down the line. And a
misfire by McGill. Sogar back to first. Well you'll take it.
The pitch. Swing and a miss. Ninety six inside corner. Ten
punch outs tonight for McGill. Tying a career high. One out in
the fifth. Levi is very hot with a bat. We'll rattle that one to
short. Lindor with a flip there. Gets away from Acuna. And
everybody's going to be safe. Lindor racing out towards center
after scooping that one up. Could not get the out at second
base and the Red Sox have a couple of men on with one out.
Two nothing. That ran in. That got him. He tried to check his
swing and he's going to take his base hit by the pitch. That's
going to load him up here with one out. Struck by the pitch and
they are loaded for Jaron Duran. No place to put Duran. Swing and
a high fly ball right field. That's deep. Backing up Soto.
He will make the catch. Tagging up Sogaard. He is in the score.
And Arvarez moves second and third. And the Red Sox have
tied it. And Duran just missed one there. But he'll pick up the
RBI. His 29th. Lascar Brazoban is up in the men's bullpen. And
it looks like Carlos Mendoza is going to make the move right
here. So after four brilliant innings. A couple of defensive
miscues cost McGill here in the fifth. Tight spot for Lascar
Brazoban who's been just brilliant. How many pitchers
have over 25 innings and less than a one ERA? You're looking
at him. The only one in baseball. Tie game. Bases
loaded. Two down. Now the merry-go-round will be in motion.
Narvaez, Rafaela and Devers all will be running. And Bregman a
half swing. He went around. Strike three. Brazoban strikes
out. Bregman to strand three. Big time strikeout for Brazoban
as Bregman goes down for the third time today. He crocheted
back out there for his sixth inning. He has dominated Soto in
the game. And continues to do it. He strikes him out for the
third time in a row. Here comes Cora. So the night is done for
the big lefty. As he fans Juan Soto in the first, the third and
again in the sixth. Luis Terenz had a long double the left
center in the second. And Terenz lines one to center field for a
base hit. So Luis Terenz has his second hit of the night. And
the Mets have the leadoff man on for the fifth time in seven
innings. Three and two. Nobody out. Terenz not going. And
Taylor lines one the other way for a base hit. Terenz pulls in
at second. So the Mets with back to back base hits against
Hendricks to start the seventh. Sogar drops back at first. And
Acuna swings and hits a slow ground ball to shore. And
Story's going to have to go to first with it. Just in time to
get Acuna. I think he's safe. The Mets are challenging the
call at first base. So now the Mets have the bases loaded and
nobody out. Second straight infield hit for Acuna. And here
comes Alex Cora. And he's going to bring in the lefty to face
Beatty. And Beatty, I'm not surprised. He's been swinging
the bat good against the lefty tonight. Got the base hit. The
Mets have driven the only run against the left hander
Crochet in the second. Infield in all the way around. Base is
loaded. And he smokes one down the left field line. Terenz on
the run. He won't get there and hops up against the wall.
Terenz is in. Here comes Taylor. Right behind him is Acuna
stopping at second. And so two runs score and the Mets have a
three to one lead. So it's a two run single for Beatty. Three
RBI. He's got the big hits tonight for the Mets. Well Soto
has struck out three times today. He's had only one four
strikeout game in his major league career. That came two
years ago with the Padres. Bases loaded one out. And one hits
one deep to center field. Back goes Rafaela to the warning
track. And he makes the catch right in front of the 379.
Tagging and scoring is Acuna. Going to third is Lindor. And
the Mets now have a four to one lead. Sacrifice fly for Soto.
Soto brings in the third run of the inning. Lindor is one for
four tonight.
Bregman guarding the line at third. The 0-2. Hit high in the
air to left field. And deep. Duran turns and looks. This one
is gone. Off the light stanchion in left field. Francisco Lindor.
Finally a home run for the Mets. He makes it five to one on a
bomb over the monster in left field. His 10th of the year. His
first home run since May 11th. The Mets' first home run in a
dog's age. They've gone six games without a home run. And
finally Lindor breaks through.
So the Red Sox are down to their final out of the night.
Ground ball on the right side. Acuna is there to grab it. And
the ball game is over. The Mets put the three game losing
streak in their rear view mirror. Their pitchers strike
out 16 batters tonight. And Brett Beatty with a big night
with three RBIs as the Mets defeat the Red Sox five to one.
