Gonsolin faced these Mets a
couple of starts ago in New
York they got him in one inning
but other than that was pretty
sharp.
Francisco Lindor leads off
against Tony Gonsolin.
He hits Lindor on the foot and
Lindor is going to go to first
base hit for the eighth time
this year as the Mets continue
to be plunked at a prodigious
rate.
The Mets have now been hit thirty
nine times this year more than
any other team in the National
League.
So now Brandon Nemo ground ball
the second a chance for two
minutes under the glove of Kike
Hernandez Lindor around second
going on his way to third and
the Mets have first and third
and nobody out.
So Dodgers is some trouble here
in the first inning and one
Soto coming up and there goes
Nemo first pitch to throw the
second by rushing not in time
and the Mets have two in scoring
position for Soto and he hits it
on the ground that'll get a run
home.
Hernandez makes this play and
gets the out.
But it's a doubly productive
after Soto.
He gets the run in and he gets
Nemo to third one nothing New
York.
So Soto drives in his thirty
first run of the year and now a
chance for Alonzo to drive one
in.
There's no time driving one out
to deep right center field back
in the gap.
He takes a look and it's out of
here.
Pete Alonzo with a two run
homer his thirteenth home run of
the year.
He's got 50 runs batted in and
the Mets have a three nothing
lead in the first inning.
He is a beast.
So Gonsolin has been plagued by
the home run ball here at Dodgers
Stadium gives up his ninth home
run in thirty one innings this
season.
And for Pete Alonzo home run
number two hundred and thirty
nine he is three shy of David
Wright who is in the building
tonight.
The Mets with a three spot in the
top of the first and Griffin
Canning on the mound for the
Mets.
He started against the Dodgers
in that first game in New York
that was rain delayed.
Walks have ticked up eight walks
in five and two thirds innings
in the last two starts.
Well Tony Betts and then Freeman
Dodgers have some work to do.
Tony Gaviria should be easy for
McNeil and Jeff puts it away for
the first out.
That was a successful return to
the lineup for Mookie Betts last
night at two hits got to test
out that toe immediately.
Here's the change up and he got
a swing and strike from Betts
and that's the second out.
Freddie Freeman two doubles
yesterday including the game
winner in the ten he swings hits
a high fly to right Soto going
back toward the track McNeil now
on the track makes the catch.
Freeman just missed it.
So Griffin Canning gets Ohtani
Betts and Freeman in order.
Gonsolin has retired three in a
row since the two run home run
by Pete Alonzo.
And here's the lefty Jeff
McNeil and McNeil lines a base
hit in a right field and he's
got a one out single on the
Mets up their second hit.
So the Mets have a one out base
runner and now Luis Torres
bouncing ball left side Muncy
cuts it off goes to second one
Hernandez to first a crisp
double play around the horn they
go to end the top of the second
four up and four down for
Canning.
Here comes Max Muncy Muncy had
himself a night last night with
a game tying home run in the
ninth and he struck him out got
him with the change up.
Second strikeout for Canning who
was set down the first five
Andy Pajas trying to snap that
ground ball to the hole it's
short Lindor show off his arm
close play but an infield hit
and the hitting streak extended
to nine games for Pajas.
That's in there for a call
strike three a slider sits
Conforto down and Griffin
Canning is through to scoreless
innings in Los Angeles Nemo
reached on an error came in to
score on Alonzo's home run pull
down the ground toward the whole
base hit for Nemo and Nemo is
aboard with a one out single
he's on and Soto's up and Soto
takes inside ball for the Mets
have two men on Soto is down in
the count over two but he works
out his forty sixth walk of the
year first walk in the night for
Consolant and it puts two men
aboard for Alonzo.
Pop up shallow center field
Betts goes out Pajas comes on
Mookie's got it Alonzo's out
number two.
So it's up to Brett Beatty here
in the third inning grounds this
first ball to first and Freddie
Freeman who will feed Gonsolin
and a scoreless top of the
third.
The Mets train the pair their
show hey two outs here in the
third Ohtani rips a single right
field in the first pitch and
show he is aboard with two down
everybody doing the day court
over there.
It needs some thunder after that
lightning fly ball center field
McNeil ranging back to the
warning track.
He's got a world right at the
fence to make the catch.
Jeff got there in time for the
final out in the third.
The Mets on a lead off base
runner in the fourth second walk
for Gonsolin as Mauricio who
struck out his first time up on
a two to swings and misses his
strikeout number four for
Gonsolin as the fastball was on
the outer half and Mauricio just
could not catch up.
Young advances to second with
two out and Luis Torres will try
and get him in.
Torres grounds it off the
Catman who pounces on it and
throws him out to the end.
Luis San Jose playing a kid's
game taking himself too
seriously.
Then the ball rolls over one
foul on a splitter.
Did he catch that.
Very happy with himself.
Oh my the helmet and the glove
and he got one.
He's ducking to framed it.
Oh easy hop.
Well it's an infielder.
He should be able to feel it.
It's just hard to hard to do with
the catcher's man.
Wilson Hill is very tuned in to
every pitch.
It looks like series to haunt
the umpire.
He's pretending to push the
pitch.
So good one common theme.
All those guys they have a lot
of fun playing baseball.
Tom Soto knocked in a run with
the grounder his first time and
then walked the smiling that
you're seeing here is him
interacting with Soto.
He's really enjoying.
Both these guys are enjoying
this matchup.
It started with the Soto
shuffle and we started seeing
the stare down.
Tony's just giving it right
back.
Soto with a smile across his
face waits on Gonsolin to drain
that pitch clock and fire
fastball pulled down the line
foul.
That was a good pitch and he's
just so quick almost adds a
payoff.
Check swing no swing for second
walk Soto's run.
This is when you wish you had
microphones on both of them.
Good banter going on and I think
it's all clean.
They're just having fun.
Alonzo strikes out and the Mets
are down in the fifth.
Here's Rushing to strike out his
first time.
Smack the right center field
rushing with the base here.
Just the third hit tonight to
the Dodgers and now Kike
Hernandez.
And it's on the outside corner
got him looking at a fastball
fifth strike out of the night
for Canning two out of the
inning.
Dodgers still trying to crack
through against Canning.
Here's Ohtani and Ohtani takes
strike three call a change up on
the inside corner and Canning
gets Ohtani looking Griffin
Canning heads back out there
with a three to nothing lead.
Freeman's been up twice flied
out both times and Freeman goes
down swinging good slider by
Canning to strike out Freeman
for his seventh strike out of
the night.
One shy of a season high and he
drives one out to center but
McNeil hurries in and the side
retired Canning with a one two
three six six Shetty or Griffin
Canning in L.A. Jose Castillo
will take over on the mound
after six brilliant innings from
Griffin Canning Pajas as one of
the Dodgers three hits.
Pajas with his second knock of
the night and it's going to
scoot by Nemo extra bases for
Pajas first man in scoring
position for the Dodgers on a
Pajas double in the seven.
It hit him.
Dodgers catch a break here and
get the time run to the play.
Rushing comes up representing
the time run.
Rushing hit his first big league
home run on Saturday against the
Yankees to have his really big
moment though.
And he struck him out three
straight sliders from Castillo
and he disposes of the rookie
left hand batter for the second
out and now probably the most
important at bat of the game
because you got two on tying one
of the plate and he got that guy
looming on deck struck him out
back foot slider Jose Castillo
with back to back strikeouts
pitches out of a jam in the
seventh and Ryan Ludis returns
to the big leagues for the
Dodgers made his Dodger debut
on May 16.
So Nemo was hit by a pitch
second batter to be hit for the
Mets tonight and they've got the
leadoff man on in the eighth
Nemo at first nobody out three
and two to Soto and Soto takes
a low ball for and he's walked
for the third time tonight.
So here's Alonzo delivered a two
run homer in the first inning
and he drives this one a deep
left field forget that that is
way up in the second of the
night.
The Mets lead it is six to
nothing.
New York have a night twenty
second career multiple home run
game for Alonzo a five RBI
night and that was crushed four
hundred and forty seven feet
three quarters of the way up in
the pavilion in left field two
hundred and forty.
Now it's only two behind David
Wright for a second on the Mets
all time list.
No they're back at it.
I mean Akun Akun is in the game
now.
You wouldn't think that he would
put the catcher's gear back on.
But they're they're doing the
bottle flip trying to get to
land on its bottom with just a
little bit of water in it.
That's a hard thing to do.
I've never tried it.
You can see how hard it is.
These are trained professionals.
Oh there you go.
Is it Soto who got it.
Was of course it was of course
of course it was Carlos Mendoza
goes to Ryan Stanek for the
bottom of the ninth inning here.
Paez two of the five hits for
the Dodgers tonight.
Drilled the left center field.
Andy Paez finds the seats and
gets the Dodgers on the board.
His third hit of the ball game
and his twelfth bomb of the
year.
Single double homer for Paez one
on nine off of the bat.
So the Dodgers are down to their
final out of the night.
It was Dalton rushing fly ball
shallow right in Acuna is right
there to grab it.
And that is the end of that.
The Mets defeat the Dodgers six
to one.
They've taken two out of three
in this series.
They've clinched the season
series against L.A.
